btw, i just wondered, is it important to know the story of the former MGS'es as well, or will i be able to understand the storyline even if i just start with MGS 4?you'll be able to enjoy it if you have a general idea of the past stories
Prepare yourself for -massive disappointment- after act 1 and 2 though. It's a sharp drop off in quality.it just goes in a slightly different direction ::)
i wish there was more gameplay like the first couple chapters, too, but the game definitely didn't approach being "shitty" -- it mixed it up and did it all well. i wouldn't wish for any of it to be taken out (maybe move that post-credits movie to a seperate 'epilogue' thing) -- if i had my way, there'd simply be more like the first couple chapters peppered into the later parts of the game.Quoteit just goes in a slightly different direction
... from "awesome" to "shitty"

"understand" the storyline is somewhat of a misnomer, but yeah - you can get through, you just won't get some of the references.

The actual assassinations, though, were perfect. The rush of killing somebody and running away ASAP with awesome controls and animation...so amazing. The main story along with the Kristen Bell subplot was pretty cool, too.
6/10 game.
mmmm, assassin's creed was one of the best games of last year, AND it was the best looking game of last year on consoles -- well, the superior 360 version was:lol

joke post
If you didn't play Assassins Creed without the HUD you're a fuckhead and a aint' know shit about games.Err, what does Uncharted have to do with anything? It's a completely different type of game. Why would it be hard to believe that people who enjoy one of the games wouldn't much care for the other?
AC was simple yet you people will talk about Uncharted, wtf. Cover cover cover cover. lol

• Skate: I don’t understand what the graphical problems of the PS3 version are, that have been talked about in a lot of places. I played the game extensively for around an hour, and didn’t notice any frame rate problems. When I read that stuff back then, I thought If I ever buy a PS3, I would have to wait for Skate 2 to be really playable, but that’s complete nonsense. The game works perfectly as it is, and everybody else complaining is probably a Xbox fanboy.

what about the analog controls?the fact that you constantly bring up that argument in these contexts just shows how little you understood about said argument.
Uncharted's platforming is made for 8 year olds that have Lego Star Wars as their main game, not to mention it's a one way street.i wouldn't disagree with that. but that puts AC's platforming on a 2 year old level. you seem to have forgotten that i was only comparing uncharted to AC.
And then i read something about Uncharted fighting system being complex, and i just got lost in the pure retardness of the post son. Sorry.i never said uncharted's fighting system was generally complex. again, you seem to have missed the whole "in the context of the genre" -- meaning, the melee system is more complex than... gears.
AC is a breakthrough game, Uncharted is a me too game. That's why AC sold over 5 million copies and Uncharted received a big "Who the fuck cares".i definitely disagree there. AC had the potential to be breakthrough, but it ended up being very mundane.

Coming off of like 60 hours w/ the 360 version, then playing the PS3 demo @ Circuit City - you can see a huge difference.
Right, now it's the marketing campaign. ::)
from what i played of mass effect, it's way above assassin's creed.
i wonder what went wrong with PS3's marketing? :(

Why did people want AC?
Marketing.noooo it was the...proliferation of its...graphics to the 4.9 million people that don't read message boards
QuoteWhy did people want AC?
people want to live out thier dirty inner middle eastern fetish?
maybe people just liked the fact it was different?
Game did pretty well for a honky game in Japan with very little marketting, not sure how that one is explained :O
You guys can complain about GOTY2007 Assassin's Creed all you like but the fact is it was awesome, sold awesome, and will therefore get a sequel.maybe the sequel won't suck. looking forward to seeing improvements.
Which I can't wait for. :heart
QuoteThe game's Japanese sales indicate to me that there is still a hardcore gaming segment in Japan that follows the news as ardently and feverishly as message board crawlers do in America. 40,000 on the 360? When you're looking at the 360 demographic in Japan anyway, it's not too much of a stretch.
Maybe the hardcore section in the west is just that big? If Two Worlds can sell close to 250k copies, that tells me that the X360 fanbase are just rabid game buyers.
AssCrud? Smelling more like LastassesPeeved to me.
I'm dying to see where they go next. The setting was great but getting another game in the same locale would not be remotely as interesting as something brand new. In that respect, I think the way they set up the game with the memories is awesome.
I have no idea where they might go next (I'm not into hyper-analysing the ending like some) but it seems Desmond in a modern world is pretty likely at some point. Maybe they'll do some more games in his memories first though.i think it's going to alternate years with pop maybe. but they haven't confirmed asscrud 2 in development but what's BABE RAYMONDONMYFACE doing?
I think Ubi's intention is to wait quite a long time before the next game comes out so there'll be ample time to do new environments I guess.
