looks boring as hell, the creature creator had all the fun and now that's old hat
I'm pretty sure everyone here knows what the game is about. The question is; is it any fun? Probably not.
Anyway, i watched some IGN videos, and wtf, this is like a rts, i thought this was about creating shit and letting it "live", play god.
this seems like LBP to me. sure its fun to create stuff but i cant imagine playing it will have any long lifespanwhy is it so hard for you to grasp that these games where you create something also involve PLAYING them like any other game? when you add the ability to create, you aren't taking anything away that somehow makes them lesser than other games.
Update: We’ve just been told that other major German PC mag, Gamestar, has scored the game at 79 percent.
Uh oh. Leading German mag PC Games has reviewed Spore at 73 percent, VG247 has learnt today.
Apparently the review can be summed up thus:
For:
* The Creature Creator
* Great animation
* Endless Content through downloads
* Tons of community features
Against:
* No real depth until the fifth stage
* Uneasy mix of simulation and strategy
* It’s easier to wage war then to be diplomatic
* No “one more go” aspect
We’ve also been told this morning by German and Scandinavian sources that online European reviews are strictly embargoed until the game launches on Friday.
EA was unavailable for comment at the time of writing.
The German score comes after UK’s PC Gamer gave the game 91 percent in a cover review.
Consider our ears pricked up.
I don't really see the review as negative. Anyone that expected this game to be a strategic masterpiece isn't thinking to clearly. The "game" aspect of it was never really the focus until late in development.
the first two stages are by no means unsatisfying -- at least the first playthrough. but i think much of the enjoyment comes from evolving your own creature.
i hate the sims and don't really have a history liking any of maxis games.the first two stages are by no means unsatisfying -- at least the first playthrough. but i think much of the enjoyment comes from evolving your own creature.
Well, millions of women love the Sims, and I think you are about as intelligent as they are, so I'm writing you off.
Borys, you're dangerously close to having your PC gamer status revoked. I've been asked to tell you to watch it.
Spore?
More like Bore amirite
you guys are really letting one review kill it for you? half-life got a 74
Forget the reviews, I agree with TVC - Spore doesn't look fun. I think there are some folks that'll convince themselves it'll be fun, but I'll wait for some level headed reviews before I buy it.

Company of Heroes, Civ4, Civ3, RA3, Dawn of War II, SCII, Diablo III...etc > Sporeone of those is in an entirely different genre

Anyway some analyst dumbfuck on Kotaku or Joystick or VoodooExtreme says it will sell 2M copies THIS MONTH.
Eurogamer score 9/10

Haters am cry...
This is one game that I'm definitely not touching until the Qt3 bitter people, who cling to their turns and hexes, shake it down. I'm pretty convinced that this game is all about editing crap and not about actually doing anything, and that few of the decisions in the game are at all meaningful becuase there's little point to the game anyway outside of editing crap.the decisions you make have an effect later in the game, though it's somewhat limited. lean more toward one of the three paths and you'll get specific bonuses in the next stage. as an example - because i was aggressive in the tribal stage, i got a nuke bonus in the civilization stage that made it even easier to capture cities.
That works for some people, but it's not my cup of tea.
Well I'm getting it. It will probably run like shit for me, but I'll try.running creature creator can give you an idea of how it will look/run
If it's comparable to that it will be a mediocre framerate but look ok.Well I'm getting it. It will probably run like shit for me, but I'll try.running creature creator can give you an idea of how it will look/run
Buy the DS versoin insteadYeah, like I'll I trust your good taste.
I'm willing to bet that Spore is going to be huge with Game Development classes.be a herbivore and very friendly, and you'll end up religious in civ stage
By the way, can I make Religious monster? I'm interested in seeing how they'd act if the met non-religious monsters(that looked like penises).
But will I crush all non-believers with my race of giant pussyfoot monsters?more like you'll make them so happy they'll just join you. you'll probably be pretty weak.
Question: I am still in the creature phase, but I can only find carnivore mouths. How do I find omnivore mouths? I hate having to kill things for food since it's so easy to get swamped.what you did in the cell stage determines the kind of mouths you can get in the creature stage.
I'm kinda digging this game quite a bit. More than the Sims at least.

This game is pretty damn fun. The space phase is very addictive, but yeah, the pirate babysitting crap is garbage. I think I'm just going to start ignoring it and see hat happens.
