yeah the 19th
most will like it, I didn't have a problem with the blades but eh.
its much faster, prettier and stuff.

I like it except for the way the friends list displays. I keep finding myself hitting the guide button and using the old-style friends list every time.
Not excited for it. The blades were fine, the new avatar stuff reeks of Wii, and the new look reeks of boring Sony presentation style blah. The blades are slow as hell, though. Trying to use most of its functions results in lots of waiting. If you want to take a look at demos or XBLA games, for instance, you had to wait for the list to repropagate every single time. NXE immediately lists all of your content. There are lots of speed improvements throughout.
I knew where everything was in the old system, the whole 'you had to wait' argument is bullshit. Take some drugs for your ADD and sit down.It has nothing to do with patience for me. I simply prefer a smooth, polished interface and the blades could not deliver that.
you have the choice of using either a gamerpic or a portrait of your mii, but you've got to make a mii and it's going to sit on the top layer of your interfaceSo there's no way to turn that thing off? :\ That's far and away the most annoying aspect.
there's nothing remotely 'sony style' about nxe's hideous candycolored pseudo 3d look -- it's pure microsoft
i'll definitely check out the netflix thing tho

Yes, there is.
Basically they threw out the good, simple design of the XMB and filled it with horrible avatars and some pretty damn bad style.
Instead of moving the stick left to right and up and down to access options/media/games, you move the stick up and down to select what you want to access and left to right to access options/media/games. It's the same damn fucking thing with a big bunch of ugly microsoft shit added that's supposed to appeal (somehow) to casuals.
Again, I'm not going to trash it totally until I see it in action, and I'm not going to deny that it's an improvement over the blades, but to say that the XMB and this new dashboard aren't similar in their basic design is just not correct.

I agree, but I don't really think it's "sony sterile looking" as MAF put it.

look at you guys
getting all excited about a dashboard update
you might as well be SONY FANS!
New xbox dash really does reek of a ps3 style release. you've got the rabid fans, the failed promises, dropped features, the hardware crashes, official threads, cheering for features already on other platforms.Except for the delays upon delays.
In participation with this program, you should not move your storage device (hard drive, or memory unit if you do not have a hard drive) to any other console as it will also update that console. If an unregistered console is updated with the NXE update, that console will not be able to connect to Xbox LIVE until the NXE has been officially released on November 19th.
Sony fans are the new nintendo fans, while xbox fans try and become the new sony fans. What are Nintendo fans then?

A dashboard update that has actual use, though. Difference!
I think my drive is about to go....it's stuttering during banjo...i'd install NXE now but I am not sure about bannings. not worth it with it like 24 hours away.

IF YOU WANT TO PERFORM THIS FUNCTION YOU MUST QUIT THE GAME.
Still Nintendo fansouch

Well I think it is, so shut up.
it's slow on certain areas like the game library menu when you have more than 10 arcade games or so.
with NXE, it loads everything there in an instant.
I can't believe every avatar stands the same exact way.
All those months ago it just got less slow. It's still fairly slow, but the new dash seemed to be quick enough. It's gonna be good to go into my downloaded games and not waiting for the list to load before I can select game.
If you think back to how many problems the 360 had when it first launched it's just amazing with how far the came. I wish I could revert my 360 to see how it was way back when you couldn't background download and it was super slow.
Installed the leaked dash. Installs are a godsend.:lol
(http://avatar.xboxlive.com/avatar/xeroxinlola/avatar-body.png)this could be a character in the next rare game
Zero Hero... PS3 installs arent even full, lulzIt's just my weak attempt at trolling. :-\
Got my update, btw
We need a Hot of Not avatar thread just for drohne
These things suck. I bet the avatars in Home are much better.
there are no tv shows i want to watch on netflix
so i put father ted in my physical queue
so much for new technology
microsoft quite literally spent the gdp of a small country on rare and since nobody wants their shitty games we've all been subjected to their shitty miis

I'd agree but for the Conker remake. Reminding Nintendo fans it looks better than any game on Wii almost, almost, erases the trauma of buying the PDZ CE.
The fucking CE? Really?
These things suck. I bet the avatars in Home are much better.
:lol I find it hilarious that the mini blades are still sluggish, maybe even more than the blades pre-update. It's like they really wanted to capture everything about the old system in there for better or worse.
You guys are the reason Microsoft still holds on to RARE! YOU FOOLS!
pdz was the reason i bought a 360
So if you guys plan on using Netflix, dont plan on watching Sony movies :lol

New set up looks really good. Very fast. MS is the king of software.

They're just so fuckin' expensive.
Apparently you get 2 weeks free of netflix right away
How do you delete games with zero gamer score?hit guide button --> achievements
Amazon has 13 month cards for $38 going on now
Netflix is cool, but it's really limited. Not worth paying 'till the selection really expands, which may take YEARS.
Already possible. It's in the options
Rock Band 2 load times cut by 1/3. Fallout 3 seems marginally faster.
Comment on effects of installing! Someone needs to make a site that says the effects for installing each game. No point in a 10 min install if it doesn't do anything.
People installing,

That's incorrect. The licensing deal did not include the 360 as a stream able device.i dont like how half the movies I want to watch "are not streamable on xbox" thoughBlame Sony. :(
There's a lot being written about the disappearance of Sony films from Xbox's Netflix streaming service, and most of it is wrong.
Several blogs have suggested that Sony pulled movies from Columbia Pictures, owned by Sony, because it has a problem with Microsoft or the Xbox. That isn't the case. It turns out that Netflix simply didn't get a licensing deal done with Sony that included the Xbox or some of Netflix's other distribution partners, according to sources close to the situation. This is a bad goof on Netflix's part.
"This issue is not specific to Xbox or any other individual platform," the company said in an e-mail statement on Wednesday evening. "Sony Pictures is currently in discussions with the relevant parties to resolve certain licensing matters related to the distribution of its motion pictures. Given the ongoing nature of these discussions, we don't think it is appropriate to comment further at this time."
Steve Swasey, Netflix's spokesman, refused to discuss any specific studio licensing deals but did say that titles "come in and out of licensing all the time." He acknowledged that some movies once offered as part of the Netflix streaming service on Xbox aren't there anymore. He said the company hopes it's only temporary.
Netflix has done a great job of moving streaming movies from the Internet to TV sets with the Netflix Player from Roku and by partnering to offer its streaming service via Xbox.
But one of the main complaints I have with the streaming service is that it's still light on titles. If Netflix loses those they already have, they're frustrating customers and hurting themselves. This is the kind of basic blocking and tackling the Netflix guys are typically so good at.
(Note to Netflix CEO Reed Hastings: Don't flub this kind of thing. I'm sure you're aware some of the studios were lukewarm about Xbox offering Netflix and would have preferred to see Microsoft build its own film offering).

mine is pretty close to me, cept I dont have a jacket that nice. I should get one. Then next halloween I can just go as myself and say im dressed as my Xbox Avatar :(
Banjo was really quick. Faster than most optional or mandatory PS3 installs and this was 6+ gigs. There is actually a good reason for it. PS3 installs have more in line with PC installs in that the installer copies a selected group of files to the hard drive. The problem is, copying a large number of smaller files takes significantly more time than copying one large file. This holds quite true on the PC side. It's simply a limitation of the technology. The reason games like DMC4 take so much damn time is that Capcom decided to copy over a huge number of small files. It's the same reason why some PC games take ages to install while others finish quickly. If you want to experience pain try installing the PC version of Shin Sangoku Musou 5. >_<
I'm not even joking...wow, that's really sad. How the fuck does that happen? ridiculous

This is the equivalent of Sony licensing their movies to HBO but saying that DirectTV subscribers are not allowed to view Sony's movies on HBO.
