Netflix is cool, but it's really limited.  Not worth paying 'till the selection really expands, which may take YEARS.

The HD selection is limited, you still have access to the lesser vids too. I am not registering until I get me a month trial code, which seem to be absent from the internet.

Anyone tried installing Gears 2 yet?

Not that there's any real loading except when you die, but still curious.

I love the new interface.  The blades interface of old was beginning to look dated and cluttered compared to the Wii and PS3.  The avatars are lame and it sucks that they are mandatory.  I love the install feature, my only gripe is that you need to change discs.

Just finished watching a Netflix movie. The quality is about the same as the PC streaming quality and it too less than a minute for the video to prompt and buffer. Awesome.

One thing they need to fix is being able to close the disc drive without it automatically launching the game when its not needed if you have it installed. Or is that already possible?

I was really only looking forward to the party system, but I really like the new dash as a whole. I thought I'd just use the Guide button for everything since the blades are now there, but I only need that for the friends list. It's so fast, it's nice to have my XBLA shit and my achievements appear right away. The new achievement listing thing is awesome.

It's lame that only one pic from a theme appears in your background - why not let you pick which one you want, or have the different little tier things each use one of the blade's pics? I never bought a theme, but still.

People installing,

Comment on effects of installing!  Someone needs to make a site that says the effects for installing each game.  No point in a 10 min install if it doesn't do anything.

Also do they sell those transfer cables?  And do you need 2 X360s to use them?  I still got my 20giger, so at most I can install 1 game at a time.

You only need one 360.  And the transfer cable are not sold separately, they only come with the hard-drive.  There are some hacks out there though.

8 player party chat is completely amazing.

Also are all 20 community games supposed to be buyable right now? Because buying and downloading trial are both greyed out for me, but people on GAF are speaking as if they are playing at least some of them. I managed to rummage around the menus and download the trial for one game without getting a glitch, but even then Buy was greyed out.

That's incorrect.  The licensing deal did not include the 360 as a stream able device.

Quote
There's a lot being written about the disappearance of Sony films from Xbox's Netflix streaming service, and most of it is wrong.

Several blogs have suggested that Sony pulled movies from Columbia Pictures, owned by Sony, because it has a problem with Microsoft or the Xbox. That isn't the case. It turns out that Netflix simply didn't get a licensing deal done with Sony that included the Xbox or some of Netflix's other distribution partners, according to sources close to the situation. This is a bad goof on Netflix's part.

"This issue is not specific to Xbox or any other individual platform," the company said in an e-mail statement on Wednesday evening. "Sony Pictures is currently in discussions with the relevant parties to resolve certain licensing matters related to the distribution of its motion pictures. Given the ongoing nature of these discussions, we don't think it is appropriate to comment further at this time."

Steve Swasey, Netflix's spokesman, refused to discuss any specific studio licensing deals but did say that titles "come in and out of licensing all the time." He acknowledged that some movies once offered as part of the Netflix streaming service on Xbox aren't there anymore. He said the company hopes it's only temporary.

Netflix has done a great job of moving streaming movies from the Internet to TV sets with the Netflix Player from Roku and by partnering to offer its streaming service via Xbox.

But one of the main complaints I have with the streaming service is that it's still light on titles. If Netflix loses those they already have, they're frustrating customers and hurting themselves. This is the kind of basic blocking and tackling the Netflix guys are typically so good at.

(Note to Netflix CEO Reed Hastings: Don't flub this kind of thing. I'm sure you're aware some of the studios were lukewarm about Xbox offering Netflix and would have preferred to see Microsoft build its own film offering).
