I hate these virtual doll avatar things. They're like Miis, but better dressed.

However, I like how much more functional everything is. You have to relearn where all the buttons are but it becomes faster navigating to what you want.

I installed the game I have with the most loading (PGR3) and it took it about 10 minutes to install the 6.2 GB disk. The menus were much smoother and it looks like the load times were cut in half from 20 to 10 seconds. This will be good for games that have lots of restarting.

Whoever has the "cafe de bore" account needs to make a gay doll. Like so gay, it looks intentional.

Honestly NXE kinda sucks. Avatars are gay, Sony is being a dick about Netflix and the marketplace is pretty confusing. HDD installs are still pretty sweet, though.

Hmm, doesn't seem to work with the new dash. I held Y+RT as it booted up, but the system didn't reset so I assume that it didn't default anything.

None of those steps worked. I can press up to get through the "what's new" or whatever, but after that I can't get any sound effects of going through menus, so I'm assuming that there's something I need to do to progress. I keep resetting my system and trying, but no luck. Ah well, I guess I can always contact Microsoft if worst comes to worst, but I'd definitely rather find a way to fix this.

It's great for its actual engineering-- speed, the installs are great, has great multimedia streaming.

The design is meh-- 3/6 channels are pure advertising, the Avatars are really atrocious, and the friends list is a horrible layout.

Since I will use the engineering features much more than the crap, I give this update two thumbs up.

I think they were aiming for presentation over everything. It's more vibrant and very nice to look at compared to the static blades. More "approachable" if that makes sense

BTW, I'm impressed.

First of all, the download was ridiculously fast considering it was a complete firmware overhaul. It was literally like 2-3 seconds. Wow. Definitely beats a major Sony update, that's for sure. PS3 installs take at least fifteen minutes at the most.

Second of all, it definitely doesn't look as ugly as I remember. I still prefer the XMB, but it became immediately apparent how aged the old system was almost immediately after downloading the new interface.

I really want to see what Netflix and the gold functionality has to offer with the new dashboard.
