watched trailer, graphics looking good... read the preview: fps, co-op, new character. awesome
oh wait, it's on rails. fail
-
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
-
wii :lol
poor nintendo fans getting their hopes up only to be disappointed once again
-
Heh, at least it seems to look pretty good. I certainly have more interest in something like this than a port of the original game. This is something that might be worth a look, unlike an actual port.
-
There's a Wii-exclusive Need For Speed coming instead of a port-down of the next real console Need For Speed, I is guessing that Dead Space will follow suit and be something made from the ground up for the system.
I know that Nerf game was a big seller for them, if they made a Dead Space light gun shooter I'd be shattering windows with my squeals of delight.
The House of the Dead Space really rolls off the tongue, no?
I called that shit (http://www.evilbore.com/forum/index.php?topic=28400.msg772543#msg772543). And I wish for it to be known that I'm the guy who coined "The House of the Dead Space".
Hell it could be okay. Rail shooters do tend to rock, the Wii already has a surfeit of quality zombie killing games, why not one more?
-
medal of honor heroes 2 was more fun in the on-rails arcade mode, that sort of game works well on the wii
i'm actually interested in this now that i know it's not just some ported-down blurry version of the HD game with jankass waggle controls
-
It also doesn't release until fall 2009
oh god.
it's too funny
i can't stand it
-
Good decision.
If they tried to replicate PC,PS360 experience on Wii,it would have failed.
-
its kinda funny. Capcom made a boatload of money reusing art and assets from their previous games and turning it into Umbrella Chronicles, now EA is doing the same thing.
Would EA be doing this, eeking out more cash from Dead Space with a product extension like this, if the original game had sold better? I dunno. But hey, if you're gonna make a Wii game, might as well make one that caters to the systems strengths. This is already more interesting then every other 2009 EA game that I can immediately remember.
I'm pumped. Bring it on I say.
-
hopefully this sells so it can fund Dead Space 2 for ps3/360/pc
-
everybody wins
i get another shooter-type game (which is all i like to play on the wii), ea gets some cash, you guys get a sequel
-
if dead rising had been on rails i would have been interested in that, too
but they chose to go the route of bullshit instead
-

well fucking said.
The gaffers are crying that its not a 3rd person shooter, but there still isn't a FPS or otherwise on the Wii that's as good as the rail shooters on the system are. I know Umbrella Chronicles and Overkill are somewhat acquired tastes, but for me, this is all damn good news.
Dead Rising Wii is almost certainly going to suck very hard. This could be pretty good.
-
I don't understand. Third person shooters actually work on Wii (Resident Evil Remake), why would they fuck that up?
-
huahuahua Wii
Graphics are impressive by Wii standards and I like RE:UC so I'll give it a shot. It might be an entertaining side-story.
-
EA trolls the Wii and kills nintard dreams
:bow EA :bow2
-
I don't understand. Third person shooters actually work on Wii (Resident Evil Remake), why would they fuck that up?
i dunno, i found myself waving the gun around and shooting into the sky or at the ground a lot - but that's probably just me, since everyone else seemed to love the control scheme
-
why put the effort into trying to make it like re4 wii when you can just slap the bitch on rails and call it a day?
i mean just look at this thread and the folks excited about this. i guess this kind of response is expected when you have to constantly lower your expectations in regards to wii gaming
-
light gun and rail shooters are fun on wii, and most other types of games aren't, that's why
-

Well, to be perfectly honest I never played Umbrella Chronicles or any other on rails shooter in Wii, so I really can't comment on that. It's just that I thought Resident Evil Remake had a damn near perfect control scheme on Wii, and in my opinion it improved on the original.
-
you know what else i heard was fun on wii? re4. which is what this should've tried to emulate
but as a wii owned you got to take whatever you can get
oh and in other news the dsi is going to be priced at $169.99 :lol
(http://i44.tinypic.com/2qnm6ie.png)
:lol
haha i pointed this out on gaf. is quite funny now

i just couldn't wrap my head around it
i have the same problem with flight controls in games
you know what else i heard was fun on wii? re4. which is what this should've tried to emulate

and as a ps3/360 owner, Dead Space 2 more than likely depends on whatever scratch this game makes, so fans of that game ought to hope wii owners take it
-
One dude keeping a positve outlook
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=14820319&postcount=165
It should be interesting when this game comes out.
-
That dude is one of the biggest Nintendo fans over there. He will defend anything on the Wii.
-
This is pretty sad. So far of the two big rail shooters for the one, I hated REUC and Overkill is just alright. hopefully it's good.
actually, the defense for this game on gaf is even more sad.
Some of the best games ever made are on rails.
Stop talkin shit about rails.
::)
-
i didn't much care for umbrella chronicles, either
-
if you're playing as the chick from downfall then she is gonna die at the end of this game
-
holy shit :rofl
-
By the time this comes out, I could probably spend $25 on the real Dead Space instead of $50 on yet another wii rail shooter
-
I don't get it. It's a good looking on rails game. Problem?
Most of the wii haters hate on it not having games, yet this is a game. A pretty cool-looking one, I might add.
But whatevs, wiifag total, etc.
-
the problem (well not a problem, should say "the funny) is that everyone was excited about getting Dead Space on Wii. "Yeah! I saw that game on ps3/360/pc once and it looked pretty cool! I'd love to try that!"
but they aren't getting Dead Space. They're getting a rail shooter with Dead Space enemies.
It's very similar to when the MGS4 Iphone game was announced in so much that we're all excited about a new MGS game then we find out it's a fucking rail shooter on the iphone.
-
Yeah this looks like really nice so far, Dead Space is a really cool new franchise that EA needs to support.
Not gonna lie, I'm disappointed that such an obvious candidate for a game with RE4 Wii-style controls has been overlooked, but if it's a fun new game I don't see why the hate.
It's very similar to when the MGS4 Iphone game was announced in so much that we're all excited about a new MGS game then we find out it's a fucking rail shooter on the iphone.
That wasn't even a rail shooter, because the player didn't even move on a rail. It was a static shooting gallery based on a Flash game. :lol
-
It's hype that causes this shit. I've been keeping my attention on Wii games to a very minimum lately, and just recently I scoped out what's supposed to come out for it and I'm honestly thinking about having a Wii spending day soon. Overkill, Madworld, Dead Space, that Deadly Creatures game looks alright. Punch Out. I don't know, as a side console I'm very happy with the thing.
-
EA is awesome :rofl
-
wow, Wii owners are never going to get that spiritual successor to RE4 that they long for.
-
there is no problem that it's a rail shooter outside of 50% of Wii made rail shooters being junk. It's just a bit funny that it went from Wii fans suddenly interested in it (as opposed to playing it on the PS3, 360, PC...which was apparently not interesting before this) to now getting shafted and getting a totally different, probably still good, game.
See Crushed, aren't you happy you played it on the PC instead of waiting?
and I will probably buy it. Working in Statis and dismemberment in a rail shooter would still be pretty cool. The slow mo in Overkill is pretty awesome.
-
You guys are disturbing. Its like watching a swarm of bees dry humping all in unison.
As I was saying in the other thread, too many rail shooters on Wii. Won't be getting this. It's a perfect fit for the Wii audience since "lightgun" games are easy to understand. Have to applaud EA for being smart.
-
this sounds kinda cool as a supplementary experience. don't be hatin' arcade light gun games, hillbillies! like cohen said, better this than a dog-ugly busted-ass port. if ninthings want the original experience, WHY THE FUCK DON'T THEY BUY A REAL CONSOLE.
-

because they're ninthings.
-
:bow Wii continues to fund games I want with shit ports/spin offs.
:bow Dead Space 2
:bow Dead Rising 2
-
Well Nfags wanted something made just for them. There ya go.
-
Oh and isn't GAF talking starting to show up too much on threads outside of the OLT?
Seriously. It's getting worse.
-
So Wii owners get the definitive version of Dead Space?
haters annihilated yet again
-
Oh and isn't GAF talking starting to show up too much on threads outside of the OLT?
Seriously. It's getting worse.
Is anyone else trying to wrap their head around this one? Is it just me. Anyone, feel free to chime in. Hello
-
dead space was apparently running on xbox hardware at one point. so i don't really understand why they chose to make it rail shooter instead of making it like re4 wii
now some of the best parts about dead space like zero g won't even be in the game
this is just simply making a rail shooter and slapping a coat of ds on it
-

Sorry?
I haven't brought Neogaf links into threads outside of the Outside Link Thread. So whatever notions you have based on that thread, don't bring it here, because i don't.
-

Dead Rising is on PC, PS3, and 360. Unless you just gave up playing video games in 2006, you should have one of those consoles or a good enough PC.
-
I think EB exists only for the congregation of hopeless cynics that would be banned elsewhere. And then there's people like me who have morbid fascination and too much free time.
edit: then again alot of people are defending the game here. As a ninthing, I'm not bothered by the direction they took. There's just too many pointer shooters already on the system for me to care about this. Boom Blox 2 is going to be sex though.
-

Good idea. Why take a good game, make it ugly, and give it controls that break the game. Better to go a different direction. Will buy.

eb elite have spoken, whiners shush mouths
-
I feel like throwing a tantrum out of spite then. Drinky doesn't even have a Wii. He won't be funding Dead Space 2.
-
i have opinions on lots of things i don't own
so do you :shh
-
I could be a lot more vocal, but I'm more apathetic than that.
-
An on-rails shooter spinoff? :rofl
Anyway, it looks awesome for a Wii game.
-
Sounds hot. For being on a shit system, that is. It will probably sell worse than a PS3 exclusive, too, because Wii owners suck.
-
:rofl Eurocom. Wii owners trolled hard
-
eb elite have spoken, whiners shush mouths
:zzz
-
Are there people out there who genuinely think companies spend millions of dollars to undermine a console? I'm seeing this line of thinking alot lately.
Dead Rising Wii is pretty convincing however.
-
:rofl Eurocom. Wii owners trolled hard
WHY
edit: this from GAF made me lol though:
You're misunderstanding this a bit imo. There seem to be *loads* of people (like me) who like 3rd person shooters because of the Wiimote and want more games like RE4. I'd never even consider playing DS on any other system, just like RE5 btw. You can't blame us for being disappointed when getting another on-rails shooter. DS might be awesome and RE5 might be the game of the forever, I'm still not interested in them on anything else but the Wii. For some people graphics are more important and I can understand that and not calling them stupid (except if they don't understand what this implies on the cost side), but for some other people, Wii controls beat anything else. I know you don't feel this way and in some other threads you didn't even believe that people can feel this way, but it's true! People really do have different tastes and preferences :-)
oy
-
Whatever, other than QTEs Resident WiiVil 4 had nice controls. Only problem is that sometimes I would shift in my seat and accidentaly knife a merchant.
-
:lol
-
So, Genghis Cohen, how is your development on Dead Space: Extraction going?
-
It's okay, because when the NPD numbers come out, you will have enough money to dress like this: :tophat
-
and as a ps3/360 owner, Dead Space 2 more than likely depends on whatever scratch this game makes, so fans of that game ought to hope wii owners take it
:rofl
-
Pretty good. Lots of pissed off Nintendo fans, though. But what else is old.
Pissed off about what?
I don't think he works for EA. Ubisoft. Wilco is joshing.
-

I'm dying to know what nthings are pissed off about. THEY GOT EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANTED.
I don't really care either way, but I assume most ninthings wanted a game that was a third person survival horror game with the controls of Re4. Alot of them are offended that EA would make a lightgun game for the Wii with the dead space ip. Diagnosis? Entitlement issues.
-
It's been common knowledge for awhile that Genghis Cohen took a job with Redwood a bit ago.
-
and as a ps3/360 owner, Dead Space 2 more than likely depends on whatever scratch this game makes, so fans of that game ought to hope wii owners take it
:rofl
yeah, you're right, dead space blazed new trails on the sales charts
-
I'm waiting with bated breath to see if Dead Space Wii on rails shooter can sell well enough to help create Dead Space 2. Makes perfect sense!
-
Dead Space sold over a million units, the animated feature and comics were a success and the game was a hit with critics. I don't think we need to worry about Dead Space 2.
-
It's been common knowledge for awhile that Genghis Cohen took a job with Redwood a bit ago.
He's really not famous enough for it to be "common knowledge".
-
Haha, if you only knew!
-
Well I don't.
So obviously if I never heard of it, not a VIP. Excuse my ignorance. Redwood is just providing some input to Eurocom anyway. Never heard of the developer, but it brings the LOLs for some reason.
-
He keeps it on the down low - don't fault him for your ignorance!
