I'm betting Dead Space: Chronicles, or Dead Space: Legends for the name.

EA Grabs Bourne License
Starbreeze Studios at work on first game.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
EA has secured a deal with Ludlum Entertainment allowing it to create videogames based on the works of acclaimed author Robert Ludlum – the first of which will be a game based around the Bourne character to be developed by Starbreeze Studios.

Bourne's last videogame outing launched to a muted response, Vivendi and High Moon Studios effort last year receiving mixed reviews. With the developer behind the hugely impressive Chronicles of Riddick games at the helm, expectations will no doubt be high for the latest Bourne project.

Several of Robert Ludlum's works are currently receiving the Hollywood treatment, with The Maltarese Circle due to hit cinemas later this year and Leonardo DiCaprio set to star in an adaptation of The Chancellor Manuscript.

For the time being, however, EA's focus appears to be on the Bourne series, with EA's Mike Quigley saying,"Robert Ludlum's Jason Bourne is the most exciting action hero to emerge in decades, thrilling audiences around the world. EA is excited to enter into a long-term relationship with Ludlum Entertainment, bringing the action, intrigue and intensity of Robert Ludlum's fiction to life for casual and core gamers around the globe."

They did pay north of $800 million for BioWare/Pandemic. Kind of dumb. At least Bono made out like a bandit.

I think it's brilliant.

MS wastes time, money, resources on launching a franchise....that ends up being a multi platform affair by the second game. Which probably sucks for us gamers, as i can already see Mass effect 2 not giving a shit to most of the events that happened in the 1st game, i already see them pull a KOTOR2 and introducing a new main character, and not allowing us to take our character from the 1st one and keep playing with him in the 2nd one. And that's gonna be dog shit.

Huh. Based on Casamassina's hints, it was obviously gonna be Dead Space or Mirror's Edge, but I was expecting ME. It seemed to fit the Wii so much more.

I haven't played Dead Space yet, so it doesn't matter to me if it's a port-down or not, but an original game or "reimagined" version would obviously be better.

I thought the RE4 remake on Wii actually improved the original game, so I could see Dead Space Wii being solid. Microsoft is terrible as a publisher as of the last 2 years, they're obviously not serious about the Xbox, even though they have the cash to secure franchises and/or acquisitions.

I agree RE4 Wii was better, but it didn't have a massive graphical downgrade.

They need to do something totally different since most people interested in such a game probably own Dead Space and won't want to play a graphically downgraded equivalent.

RE4 on Wii is really great.  It's one of the only, if not only, multi-console games on the Wii that is superior.

Huh. Based on Casamassina's hints, it was obviously gonna be Dead Space or Mirror's Edge, but I was expecting ME. It seemed to fit the Wii so much more.

from the new write up, it seems like it's going to be a new game and not just Dead Space 1 on the Wii.  And if you want to get Dead Space, get it on PC then.  No reason to avoid it until it's on the Wii.

DS Wii - Bring more money to fund 2010 DS2 for X360/PS3/Wii.
DA delay - boo
ME2 2010 - booo, but games do take time to make so oh well.  X360 version will look better of course since it's UE3.0
Bourne by Starbreeze - Hmmm, could be alright.  Though I guess Riddick 2 isn't going to be for a while now.  Btw, isn't Bizarre doing James Bond racing as well?  It's interesting seeing good studios doing movie franchise games.

Isn't MS2 going to be a continuation of the story (as part of a trilogy)? What about the sfans who never played the first?

Aren't there a few games on PS3 like this?  Condemned 2, Dead Rising 2, etc..

The Bourne game is kind of interesting.  I hope they make a specially designed game for Dead Space wii and don't just give it a port.  It sounds like a good new franchise and ruining it with one bad port could hurt its marketability.

lol @ dead space wii

one of the things dead space nailed was sound design. oh yeah and the graphics were pretty nice as well. would love to see a wii version of the final boss :lol

i guess the game might be alright if it isn't a port but it's funny how wiitards don't care if everything that makes a ps360 game good is sacrificed. as long as it has pointer controls, they're happy!

Dead Space might work on the Wii.  Re4 worked also great.

But I'd rather have superior graphics + great controls instead of last-gen graphics and hit/miss waggle controls.

I don't know why a multi console owner would rather buy Dead Space on the Wii instead of Ps360.

There's a Wii-exclusive Need For Speed coming instead of a port-down of the next real console Need For Speed, I is guessing that Dead Space will follow suit and be something made from the ground up for the system.

I know that Nerf game was a big seller for them, if they made a Dead Space light gun shooter I'd be shattering windows with my squeals of delight.

The House of the Dead Space really rolls off the tongue, no?

While not 100% ea related.

Its rumored that Crytek bought out Free Radical.

Funny how EA was invovled with both companies at one point.

I don't see how it fits the Wii.  Are you simply thinking that do to the brighter colors?

For one thing, the controls of Mirror's Edge probably would not work very well with the Wii-mote for a number of reasons.  The game is very precision based and requires the player to chain together large numbers of actions that would be difficult to execute with the Wii control scheme.  I'm not saying it would be impossible, but I do not believe the controls would benefit.

Furthermore, the visual design is part of the games appeal and simply couldn't be executed properly on the Wii.

Dead Space, on the other hand, relies on small, dark areas and features gameplay that would work very well with the Wii-mote.  It's a better fit.  The graphics will take a hit, of course, but it could be a decent game for those that missed it the first time.  They wouldn't have to worry about online functionality either (Mirror's Edge offers leader boards and the like).

They just don't get it. Just because Black and White and no sound was the shit back in the 20s, doesn't mean we will gladly go back to it, after we have experienced surround and colors.

It's the whole pre rendered bs. Remember when pre rendered was going to save the wii? So was the word spread by ntards.

They are really weird, they would rather have a shit Nintendo console with no games of their liking, than buy a good console with games of their liking.

If EA gets Dead Space too look like Doom 3 on Xbox, nfags will be saying it's one of the best looking games of the gen, you just wait.

Did Mass Effect not do well or something?
Pretty sure it did something in the neighbourhood of 1 million sold (to consumers or retailers, I could not say.) Not a bomb, but not a hit for an HD game, either.

N'Gai Croal asked EA's PR about a ME2 PS3 version and they only confirmed the 360 and PC versions.

EA PR not confirming Mass Effect 2 for PS3, only 360 and PC. That's all folks. Back to a more manageable tweetstream.

It makes me sad to see Dead Rising look like an N64 game.

The thing is, and I'm not even marginally joking, Dead Rising could have easily been made as a PS2 game. There's nothing so overwhelmingly graphically or processing intensive in it that's integral to the gameplay. Graphics, sound, yeah -- they're doing some intense shit especially considering it was a launch (or launch window) title. But those bells and whistles are not central to the game's core.

Lower polycount on the zombies. Fewer texture variations. Shorter draw distance. (so, yes, /less/ zombies, but still an overwhelming number in close proximity).

To a degree, yes, it can be applied to many of the games this generation -- which is a sad statement to make. Most of what's out there is a prettier version of what was available last generation.

However, for a couple alternate examples of games that would not have easily been possible last-gen, I think effective graphic presentation on something like Fallout 3 would have been very difficult, and the way the environment stays eerily static and consistent, with items and bodies left wherever you'd dropped/killed them. That's something that would have been hard to pull off with a save on an 8MB memcard. Viva Pinata and Banjo Kazooie N&B would also have required a lot of simplification to put on a GameCube or PS2.

When I saw "Mass Effect 2" and "multiplatform" in the same sentence, I quickly went over to GAF, but I couldn't find a thread about it there. Was it a bloodbath that's now locked, or what?
Well, for a few posts there were PS3 fans celebrating and 360 fans celebrating ("now they can play this great game!"), then N'Gai Croal asked EA about the platforms and they said 360/PC, no PS3, then that spread to GAF and that killed all platform related discussion.
