Title: Grrr Vista Pisses me off.

Has anyone had to deal w/ Vista not producing sound? I have Realtek High Definition Audio on-board. Just installed Vista (I have no idea why, other then I couldn't find my XP disc) according to RealTek's site it's compatable w/ Vista. But apparently I still get no fucking sound. I upped to SP1, still nothing. Reinstalled Drivers several times now. Even called Microshit and they want to know my Mothers Maiden name, my childhood friends, my finger prints, and the size of my cock. so fuck them, hell no.

Anyways, according to Vista my mixer shows audio being played the little thingie bobs up and down when I play something, but yet nothing comes out of my speakers... Yes the shit is plugged in correctly. It all worked just fine before (XP) but apparently not on Vista. What a joke.

Anyone have this issue and had it resolved? Sorry if I sound a bit pissed off... I am though, I've been dicking w/ this pos for 3 and half days now. ugh. I've looked all over the place to find the correct answer, but apparently everyone fixes their issue some way that isn't helping me none. :P

Any help would be welcomed. I also hate other forums, so I figured my EB brothers/sisters can help me, instead of random dick snot from Ilovevistaitrocksmyballsallnightlong.ms.

did you download new drivers from the manufacturer's site, or just reinstall the ones you had?

Switch your OS language to Swedish... that should fix everything.

ACtually if you go into the mixer is something turned all the way down? An individual program.

Have you tried a complete uninstall from device manager for the audio and then reboot and let Vista re-install?

That may do the trick.

Hmm...

so it installs properly.

shows up as working properly.

still no sound.

Question: does your pc/laptop have a auto mute button on the keyboard? Its possible that is messed up and muting you when it is not supposed to.  But if T234 has seen this before and has a solution, maybe he will post it soon.

On your fourth screencap, move the volume pane down a bit, and take another screencap.

Take a cap of the "stereo mix tab in the fourth screenshot too.

There is an option somewhere about auto equalizer or some such that is a check box.

Edit: not a driver issue in my experience.

gimme screens for sound effects, room correction and default format. With NOTHING IN THE WAY PLEASE

There is is option on the Realtek HD audio manager that is fucked, and basically I'm trying to find it through a proxy.

did you try to mess with the bios audio settings?

i had to enable hdmi audio there to get sound from my hdmi (asus bios), i know this isn't really relevant but worth a try.

I just fixed-up my sister's computer today.

Having to google to find out how not to have Dial-up Connection pop up every goddamn 5 seconds while even thinking about such an obsolete problem is making me haaaate.

Try a set of headphones in the green jack your speakers are plugged in to. That will at least eliminate the speakers as the culprit.

Uncheck everything that says 'mute' next to it. :lol

If you don't have Remote Desktop available (not everyone does), I recommend setting up WinVNC, or TightVNC for T234 to use to access ur box.

Can you mute your sound through the keyboard? My computer has that and sometimes it gets bumped and mutes the sound.

Yeah, but I know that isn't the issue. I dicked with that already. :P Plus anything like that touched on the comp automatically shows in windows.

I scope out my bios settings and see if anything has changed in there. I reformatted this comp from XP. I couldn't find my XP disc, all i could find is my vista disc. So... I installed Vista. It's pretty, but damn. This audio issue is pissing me off. I'm not sure how just installing Vista would change my Bios settings, but w/e it never hurts to try I guess.

Thing is... everything worked great in XP, just landed an annoying virus (never let your kids use your comp) and said ah fuck it. reformat.

Maybe... BUT I think they owe me one for having me think that Vista is a pos... because it was/is... IMO I think it's pretty and runs just fine on my sys. But I built my sys about a year or so ago, so it should run it just fine. :P

Also, their tech support line is a joke and IE sucks asshole. :lol

I mostly run Firefox (on Vista at work, Ubuntu at home), actually.  But I definitely prefer Vista to XP, at least with RAM >= 2GB.
