How about a cautionary tale of a young, homeschool valedictorian named Maurice going off to college and instead of having a good time he gets hooked on heroin after trying weed for the first time cause his roommate told him everyone was doing it, and then he has to start peddling his ass on the street corner for some black tar goodness.  Eventually he manages to kick the habit just in time to enlist in the army and stop the horde of brown skinned jihadists from pillaging the defenseless, limp wristed fey Yooropeons that have been advocating appeasement the whole time.  Instead of ending on an up note, tho, we'll have Maurice outed as a former queer by one of his old johns after he becomes a celebrity back home, and he'll die penniless, universally hated and AIDS ridden in a cumstained dumpster in Seattle somewhere.

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift is the only FF movie I've seen and it was surprisingly entertaining (I don't even like cars that much.)

It was clearly from the Earthbound & Down guy, huge focus on the white trash type of America stuff with the same type of humor. If you liked his show you'd like this but it isn't for everybody.

I wouldn't say that it's that bad of a dropoff. It's still going to break $100 million in two weeks, if that's accurate.

It is making the studio a shitload of money, obviously. But 60%+ dropoff is pretty much always a sign of bad word of mouth. Incredible success due to lowbudget and huuuuge opening weekend, but bad word of mouth.

I don't think word of mouth has been all that bad. It did drop off quite a bit from Friday to Sunday, but it's been doing about $4-$5 consistently this week and it looks like it'll make another $25 million this weekend, putting it way ahead of any of the other movies in the series.

my impression, from what I've read of its plot diversions and clips seen, is it's only really 'funny' from just how unpleasantly over the top it is, and the story being kinda empathetic towards their unhinged central character. that humour's bizarre ugliness just strikes me similar to tom green's monstrosity.

I don't get people suggesting F&F had toxic word of mouth.

This movie is a cheap thrill.  Those who wanted to see it, most have seen it now.  At this point, the only people who are watching it are those who are seeing it again and those who want the matinee discount.  Mid 60% dropoff seems about right.

I only want it to outperform Watchmen though.   Which it will do.  Then one of my two shows that I want to fail will be fulfilled (the other one is that I want Dollhouse to fail)

Movie was good. I was surprised at how serious on tone it was, especially considering the last two. The little twist actually caught my by surprise.

I watched Chronicles of Riddick Unrated in Hi-Def, then watched Vin's short movie Multi-Facial, then played Assault on Dark Athena. Now I just put Wheelman on my Gamefly Q just behind Resident Evil 5. I'm swimming in Vin Diesel and it feels good.

It made 20 mil in asia so it didn't even make back half its budget if it is really 50 million. And they talked about a sequel before it came out. Tons of movies have sequels talked about before they come out and tank and the sequel never comes.

There is no way there will be a sequel to a movie that makes under 5 mil opening weekend, not a chance.

The movie had a 45 million budget, not 100 mill. It's easy to see it when you see the movie. Few special effects, very basic ones at that, and a very short film.
