The first Hannah Montana movie did $30 million opening weekend on 630 screens. The new Hannah Montana movie is opening on THREE THOUSAND screens.

It is making the studio a shitload of money, obviously. But 60%+ dropoff is pretty much always a sign of bad word of mouth. Incredible success due to lowbudget and huuuuge opening weekend, but bad word of mouth.

I don't think word of mouth has been all that bad. It did drop off quite a bit from Friday to Sunday, but it's been doing about $4-$5 consistently this week and it looks like it'll make another $25 million this weekend, putting it way ahead of any of the other movies in the series.

my impression, from what I've read of its plot diversions and clips seen, is it's only really 'funny' from just how unpleasantly over the top it is, and the story being kinda empathetic towards their unhinged central character. that humour's bizarre ugliness just strikes me similar to tom green's monstrosity.

I don't get people suggesting F&F had toxic word of mouth.

This movie is a cheap thrill.  Those who wanted to see it, most have seen it now.  At this point, the only people who are watching it are those who are seeing it again and those who want the matinee discount.  Mid 60% dropoff seems about right.

I only want it to outperform Watchmen though.   Which it will do.  Then one of my two shows that I want to fail will be fulfilled (the other one is that I want Dollhouse to fail)

Movie was good. I was surprised at how serious on tone it was, especially considering the last two. The little twist actually caught my by surprise.

It made 20 mil in asia so it didn't even make back half its budget if it is really 50 million. And they talked about a sequel before it came out. Tons of movies have sequels talked about before they come out and tank and the sequel never comes.

There is no way there will be a sequel to a movie that makes under 5 mil opening weekend, not a chance.
