Outside of the DS, there isnt much being happy about. The Wii, despite great sales is a pile of shit. I haven't played on mine since Mario Galaxy, and that was in 2007. So why have Nintendo had such a poor output of games in the last 2 years? It does not make sense, because they make shitloads of money and they should spend some of it in new studious or something. But no, they're too cheap and there is no REAL reason to use the wiimote in games, because there are no games that are amazing with the wiimote.
Oh and Zelda isn't even relevant anymore. Mario is still pretty fun, but that's about it.
-
Nintendo is no longer caters to your needs. Buy a 360
-
What difference does it make? Find something else to do with your time.
-
What's a Nintendo?
-
Woah there, bashing Nintendo on Evilbore? You're treading on some thin ice, buddy.
-
Nintendo is no longer caters to your needs. Buy a 360
I have one. Very happy about it.
-
I refuse to buy a Wii, the jaggies cut me to my soul
-
Mario Galaxy is the only good Nintendo product of this generation.
The rest is utter shit.
-
forget nintendo. just buy a ps3 to get all your waggle needs (assuming you're crazy enough to feel that you need waggle) since that's where failed third party wii games will be heading :lol
-
You seem pretty jaded, dude. :/
-
Nintendo is best if you just take the good, leave the bad. Buy a 360/PS3 (preferably a 360) and see if you want to spend the money on a Wii/DS for their core franchises. You'll feel better about yourself and gaming in general that way.
-
Metroid Prime 3 was good too.
-
Nintendo is best if you just take the good, leave the bad.
Sorry, just Mario Galaxy doesn't work for me.
-
And that's your prerogative and I have no issue with that. To me though, I really enjoyed Twilight Princess, Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Mario Kart, and a small few third party games. I keep the system around for those reasons. I can see why people don't keep it though and don't like it, it's no big deal.
-
Buy Mini Ninjas, it's on the Wii.
-
yeah, I haven't touched the Wii in ages... If it wasn't for Metroid and Mario coming next year I probably would've sold it by now. Most recent game I've tried was MadWorld, but that got old after 3 levels and I never really went back to it. There are other titles that I might give a shot like Muramasa, but in general the Wii just doesn't have any appeal compared to the 360 and PS3. I've gotten so used to the features there that it's getting kinda hard to go back to a prev gen system.
-
Metroid Prime 3 was good too.
Compared to the first two. No.
-

First one is the best, but 3 is better than 2.

no ntard, they are not :lol

Cool dude

This gen? I know SantaC probably got off to Batman Dark Tomorrow, but Nintendo systems have been hot since SNES. It may be nice to look back at the entire console life cycle at the end and say "N64 had OoT and Mario 64 and..." but those games also had monthly/yearly gaps. And the Wii at least has some good Nintendo games once or twice a year. Gamecube had long waits for Mario Sunshine while PS2 was rocking house with three different platformer series with three games apiece. It looks bad because we're in the thick of the Wii era. At the end, whenever that may be, the culmination of titles will trounce the Gamecube and cum on its corpse.
DS is a different story. It does have the worst real Zelda game with Phantom Hourglass and kinda disappointing return of 2D Mario, but it still has a lot of good games, both from Nintendo and third parties. I'm not a fan of the hardware and still can't think of a single game that benefits from two screens (let alone two touch screens...DS2 tard wish lists ::)) and none of the iterations are comfortable to hold.
-
"take the good, leave the bad"
So... nintendo is still shit
-
I haven't bought a Wii game since last April. If there were 2 worthwhile Nintendo games a year I'd be happy.
-
I'd really like to get Little King Story, since it's apparently one of the best Wii games this year. Don't have the money right now, though. :'(
-
First-party wise I definitely prefer the Mario and Zelda on Wii over the GC ones... where Wii is really failing for me is with the RPGs. You'd think the 3rd best selling system in Japan would get some good ones, but no not really. I'd still rather play the genre on console than handhelds, no matter what others may say about handheld superiority.
-
The Zelda on Wii is the Zelda on Cube :lol
-

It's one of the best Wii games periods. It's like a much better Pikmin.

I'd also like to get Rune Factory Frontier, but haven't for the same reason.

It's been downhill ever since the N64. The NES, SNES, Gameboy, and Gameboy Advance were Nintendo's best systems.

pretty much

The Wii has a much better library than the gc and n64. Like I said about the ps3, despite the fact that if you compare it to a current system with a superior feature list, its still a step up from its predecessor. I love the virtual console and wiiware. I like motion detection when done right (mostly tilt and m+ games) and the IR pointer is arguably the best control innovation this gen. Their online setup is convoluted if you want to play with people you know, but compare that to the maybe 3 online gc games with no communication or friend lists either.
So I can understand if you have a pc or 360 or ps3 and have no interest, but compared to other Nintendo systems I'd say its better than gb, gba, n64, and the cube. Yes, I didn't care for the gba. I bought alot of games for it but the only standouts to me were advance wars and the yoshi island port. Now if we're comparing it to the snes, ds, or nes- then yes, it has a ways to go. But its got a few more years to flesh it out.
edit: gba had warioware twisted and zero mission too. So maybe 4-5 games I personally enjoyed when all was said and done.

Nintendo is just lazy. When the same shit sells 300,000 copies a month worldwide for several years, why bother trying?
I wouldn't say Nintendo is shit but they are extremely unambitious. They believe that just the hardware will sell alone and they are right. Other than waggling, Nintendo just does not give a fuck. If you want proof, check out their library past Mario Kart Wii, probably at the point where Nintendo realized that they didn't really need to make any new games. The end result? Wii Music (lol), Punch Out (Flash game), Metroid Prime Trilogy (useless; you can play all three games on the GC already), Wii Sports Resort.
That is the new Nintendo.
2010 has a few interesting things. My guess is that Nintendo believes people will get tired of Wii Play three years after release and that they should throw a few bones to the owners that aren't grandmas or soccer moms. The gaming media (lol) will accept this and cheer loudly, saying nobody does it like Nintendo. Some people already consider them the download kings, which is absolutely laughable. Nintards get it wrong; Nintendo gets all the free passes it wants if they show something that isn't total derivative shit is on the horizon.
-
It is insulting that you have developers who are trying to push the boundaries of game design who only sell a few hundred thousand copies of their game while Nintendo dominates the sales charts with yet another Mario Kart and Pokemon game.
-
How can anyone say wii has a better library than n64?
-
Did Grammar just say that PS3 is better than PS2?
And yea, Nintendo would obviously rather have an old ass game keep appearing in the top 10 then have to pay to develop a new one. What boggles my mind is why you'll see Nintendo fans snatch that talking point right up, and wear it proud in topics like this one (at other sites). Why would anyone be smug about a content provider being 'so confident' in their device's sales potential that there is no need for further support? When Jack Tretton or whoever the fuck said exactly that about the PS3 when it launched, he was ridiculed for months or years.

Because it does. I guess Wii doesn't have starfox and fzero but it has more stuff to offer on a consistent basis.
Admiral, I was saying that both the ps3 and wii have a better set of features than their predecessors. When developers take advantage of it good games are had.
-
How can anyone say wii has a better library than n64?
I hope no one. The N64, while few games had some amazing titles. The big Wii games are just lazy.
Because it does. I guess Wii doesn't have starfox and fzero but it has more stuff to offer on a consistent basis.
The difference is that Nintendo spent effort in their N64 titles.

N64 had huge stretches of nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooootttttttttttttthhhhhhhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggggg. I was embarassed to own the system when they had to resort to advertising Glover. MOTHERFUCKING GLOVER
09 has been so consistent that I had to just forsake some games. I didn't pick up dawn of discovery, or rune factory frontier for instance.

Is that more insulting than Activision dominating with ANOTHER Guitar Hero spinoff, or a shitty game based on a movie license, or the yearly Madden game dominating?
Most of the best games ever made sold like shit, since the start of the industry...

You weren't exactly a nintendo fanboy back then, what made you decide to go wii exclusive for a year?
I didn't own any system at the time and I had to have Mario Galaxy. That meant owning a Wii and with Smash Brothers (that game turned out to be a tchotchke collect-a-thon more than a game) and Mario Kart on the horizon, I figured it would be worth my while. Plus at the time I believed that the Wii's success would produce more games than it has. I didn't expect third parties to go Wii exclusive like some still hope but I expected something. So I kept it for a few months. I got tired of it after beating enough 12 year old Euros online in Mario Kart and after Nintendo's fuck awful E3, it was clear that it wouldn't last me for another couple of months. With Wii demand still high, I sold it. With all the games I sold with it, I think I made a slight profit but I don't remember.
It was pretty bad. It meant waiting for good stuff (well, potentially good as Brawl sucked) while poking around the B and C grade quality stuff (Zack and Wiki, Metal Slug Anthology, HOTD 2 and 3, Ghost Squad) to see if they were down at a price that would be considered worth it. The wait was too long and that was at a time when the Wii arguably hit its peak. I don't know how they do it now, except depending entirely on the B and C grade stuff like Little King Story. During its prime, it was still pretty boring. Half of it was full of fun and dare I say, whimsy, but the other half was arduous waiting or stomaching the crap that was now considered good by the likes of Andrex and jrricky.
I will most likely re-Wii when Galaxy 2 comes out. With that, I can replay the original Galaxy, NSMB, Sin and Punishment 2, and maybe a couple of more surprise quality titles. In other words, it will most likely get sold again after a few months.
Is that more insulting than Activision dominating with ANOTHER Guitar Hero spinoff, or a shitty game based on a movie license, or the yearly Madden game dominating?
Not really but I would point out that at least they came out yearly. The same shit for Wii from early 2007 is still on the charts now. That makes for good fanboy fodder but it is obvious that all it did was make Nintendo lazy. Since Mario Kart Wii, Nintendo has not really given a shit. Why would they when a game that is a year and a half old still sells hundreds of thousands a month? At least with yearly Maddens, you get various tweaks, new features, etc. With the Wii, Wii Play is the same in September 2009 as it was September 2007.
Nintendo is kind of the same way with the DS. Outside of a few token efforts here and there, they don't care. It must be pretty easy down at EAD.
-
You're supposed to buy Nintendo's product at the END of a generation. That way the hardware is 100 bucks and all the great games are less than 20.
Doing anything else is a rip-off. You should have learned your lesson back with the N64.

Wii Sports Resort is fun. I haven't been able to play it much with friends because everyone seems so out of the Wii now. It's not like they play other video game systems, but even just a year ago they were still all about it. Now it's a lot of apathy. Even my cousin who was crazy for it 2 years ago ditched it to invest in PC gaming (smart lad, that one).
-

Get off his dick
I agree with him. The only time we'd ever fire up Wii Sports is when my roommates and I were back from the gym and just wanted to unwind for a bit. That or when we were piss drunk. I mean, nearly falling on the floor drunk. Wii Sports works great for spontaneous multiplayer. Something quick and easy to get into, to fuck around, and then shut it off in a half hour.

And all the best N64 games can all be downloaded for VC, with an upgrade in resolution too. Actually, no Mischief Makers though, but still who cares about N64 anymore? I don't even have mine hooked up.
-
Relative to their eras, N64 probably had the better library than the WII. During the N64 days, Nintendo was one of the few developers that knew how to do 3D games properly.

No. N64 was the shittiest console (Virtual Boy was a "portable") Nintendo ever made. "Quality over quantity" my ass. You can count its best games on one hand.

Two zelda games yet you forget starfox and smash. Although smash64 isn't that great when you consider the lack of content.

It's understandable if you don't like wagglewand, or don't want to play in standard definition, or if Nintendo's archaic online isn't something you're willing to settle for. But there are games whether or not people are paying attention to the release list.
Excitebots, Punchout, and Tiger Woods m+ are good shit and all came out this year. Highly recommendable. The Wii is also the first Nintendo system after the SNES where I can think of a few multiplatform games that edge out their counterparts. Pro Evolution Soccer is better on Wii, so was Shaun White snowboarding.
edit: Hmmm, I should put a disclaimer that I haven't played other versions of said games other than Tiger Woods. So if you'll excuse me for pulling comparisons out of my ass I'll just say I liked the controls in said games and can't imagine how they would emulate such controls on other consoles.

I can think of more without including games I didn't play, like Ogre Battle. N64 had a lot of good Nintendo games. They managed to even take F-Zero and make it way more awesome, paving way for Nagoshi to come in and refine it into GX. :bow F-Zero GX :bow2
and yeah, thinking about it more, it did have better third party exclusive games compared to the Wii.

I will say its very weird that there is no indication of what the major dev groups are doing at Nintendo, and its been that way for a very long time now. Almost all of their releases are outside collaborations
sin and punishment 2-treasure
other m-team ninja
endless ocean 2-arika
punchout-next level games
excitebots-monster games

There's something to be said for the time and place, as well. Sure, DKR might be on DS now, but it can't replicate the feeling of playing it in 1997. Entertainment doesn't exist in a vacuum.
And 1080 Avalanche is an abomination. Let us never speak of it again.

Atleast N64 had competetive graphics when it came out, now playing a 360 game then firing up a Wii game bleeds my eyes
