Yep. UCs are more research focused than the CSUs. But with the recent tuition hikes, it's hard to find lower priced public universities in California.What university?

That's not too bad a school. If you do well there, you can easily get into a top graduate program anywhere in the country. Friends who've studied at both Cal Sate and UCs told me that the teaching was a lot more intimate at Cal State and it's generally a more nourishing environment. So yeah, I think you've found a good place to build a solid set of fundamentals.
I thought you were a developer? Didn't you work in the games industry? Congrats, BTW. College is fun times.
