Like you're going to wait until it releases. More like "releases."
Not me. Going from DQVIII to IX is a huge downgrade thanks to the shitty DS hardware. Not going to waste my time with this.

Sorry, but my standards are higher. When I want to play a sequel, I want it to be better on all fronts. And DQIX fails.I'm sure most people felt the same before handhelds got popular.
Buying this day one.Same. Love DQ.

Get this shit out of here. You've had 4 years to accept this and you aren't even a DQ fan to begin with.
Can we ban Third from this thread and discuss the game part?
DQ9 is not as long as DQ7 or 8. It's pretty standard DQ size-wise. 40-50.
And what you want are great graphics?
Stop playing games and kill yourself.

Depends.
The main game is pretty short. ~30 hours or less.
The post game is like infinite grind game with tons of optional bosses and you gotta get strong enough to fight them.
And the battles are shorter than VIII.

Not only better graphics. But better sound as well. Better controls probably too.
The whole presentation would've been much better if the game would be released on a more capable console.
From what I've seen, DQIX looks worse than a Ps1 game.
But oh well. I guess people are too easily pleased nowadays.
this is how dragon quest ps1 looks like

don't you have metal slime for that tough?
is the job system distinguished mentally-challenged like in DQ7?
In DQIX you drop to level 1 when you change jobs and don't keep any of the spells from your previous job.
To be fair, you can change back to that other job at any time and you use it at the level you got it to, with all those skills, just like FFXI. And I've played the game for more than 200 hrs. You could say I like it a lot.
from reading gamefaqs it seems that switching to a high level class to a low level class once will make your character useless but jack of all trades can get decent since they can get more skill points and therefore more stat boost from the skills tree

That sounds like a pretty standard job system then.
smh @ bebpo
Whatever it takes to make DQ popular in the west....
i don't know bebpo... couldn't you have done that on the post game? level up the job a bit and then return to your old job? i mean... i don't understand,if you thought doing so was a pain in the ass,why you did it?

Sorry, they're not changing the gameplay

All they'll need to do is recolor the game to a brown/yellow/grey overbloomed mess, and then replace the game mechanics with FPS mechanics, and BAM, instant hit!
I would be if I could buy it, still haven't played the Japanese version, either. poooooooooooor
sell me on this game, nignogs. is it totally solo'able?
Has DQVI gotten announced yet? I'm more interested in that one than in IX.
Yeah it was pretty kiddy, but remember that I am a weaksauce gamer and my e-peen can only be viewed under a microscope :(
So ideally if you want to multiclass you should constantly go from multiple jobs levelling them up equally? Good to know.
How much slower is the combat versus the 2D DQ games?
Couldn't I just use the same classes from start to finish to enjoy the game without grinding?
Here is a quick example of shit you can do with the job/level system.
Learn the "weak spot" attack on spears.
Go hunting for metal slimes / metal bros / metal kings.
Level up a ton, and save all the points.
Change to a new job, e.g. thief.
Invest all the points you saved up into the "treasure" skill line.
Change back to your last job.
Bam, you now have your old job + a full list of thief skills, including speed+40, treasure find, monster check, etc.
According to Kotaku, there's a big release party in New York today, Yuji Horii will show up and autograph your copy*
*If you're one of the first 30 people there. He's only signing 30 of them. :lol
