"We have not forgotten about SF 3. In fact, from it. We've just started producing to bring this back to you. Street Fighter 3, Third Strike, Online Edition."
Mike Nelson:
Now a fight has broken out and the producers from Tekken have walked in the door. Madness. They are handing out copies of Tekken to fans at a Street Fighter panel.

and it looks like it will be 2 games with Tekken X Street Fighter.
The concept is similar to what Capcom did with SNK in the past.

:omg
not sure how i feel about it, tekken's character designs are boring compared to street fighter's and i hate tekken gameplay, but more fighting game goodness is always good
-
That just became more than a rumor.
-
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v287/luigidude/CapcomVs.jpg)
-
Sounds like it's tag-based too.
-
boring cast vs. boring cast
if it was capcom vs. namco could've had Captain Commando vs. Kos-mos
-
tekken has tons of weird character, the problem is that they are going to use the boring popular one like jin, hwarang and heihachi
-
Curse you Borys :'(
but yea the games are similar to what Capcom and SNK did in the past when both were all the rage
-
Also, why hasn't Capcom vs. Guilty Gear/Blazblu happened yet. Now that's a crossover that would be amazing (ASW version).
-
So the rumor about two cross games being developed is true. I'm interested.
boring cast vs. boring cast
FRIENDSHIP OVER
If you want to play SFIV characters, play SSFIV
If you want to play Tekken characters play Tekken 6
At least SF has a lot of good characters when you put SF + Alpha + SFIII series together. Tekken characters though....lol Chun Li vs. Panda!
-
just seem pointless. i would have much preferred capcom vs sega/konami/snk, sf/guiltygear/kof or tekken vs soul calibur
-
:piss Tekken :piss2

try to ignore the commentary.
a better vid will be up soon more likely
-
I was like "eh," was hoping it was Namco X Capcom/Capcom X Namco for the rosters, but then I watched that video...
...DAMN. Looks too fucking good.
-
no, but seriously isn't tekken the least popular fighting game? didn't soul calibur, mk, kof, doa, mvc2, and every other fighting game outsell it? WHY?
-

Not sure about Tekken 6 home version's sales numbers, but Tekken 5DR/Tekken 6/Tekken 6 BR have been the top arcade games for a couple of years now. More popular than SF4 ever was.
-
After making a response i saw that the board was moved.
But yes Good Day Sir basically said what i was going to say.

Yeah, Tekken does great in Japanese arcades.
No one cares about Tekken anymore in the west or Japanese console market.
-
I want the namco version, love me some tekken.
-
So basially neither Ono or Inafuna get to make their games people want

...Except that Tekken 6 is a big part of MLG and featured in big tournaments like EVO.
-
Tekken 6 looked like shit. It was just one guy doing the same shit and he perfected everyone. What a shit game.

where's my thread at :'(
Also the Tekken vs SF game is real :o :o
Yea both companies are doing their own take of the game.
The matchups should be crazy now.
Bob vs Rufus :lol
Any shoto vs Eddie :lol

So now on the horizon, we have:
-BlazBlue Continuum Shift (for 'Merica)
-Virtua Fight 5 Final Showdown (arcades...hope there's a home version!)
-KOF 2002 UM XBLA
-KOF XIII
-Arcana Heart 3
-Marvel Vs. Capcom 3
-Mortal Kombat (lol)
-SF X Tekken
-Tekken X SF
-SSF4 3DS
-DOA 3DS
Good times. :D
where's my thread at :'(
Merged. The other thread title was better.
-
is there a video of SFIV for 3DS? I saw that they briefly showed a slide or two regarding it, so I was curious.

They sure don't fucking shut up.
Capcom should be ashamed, Tekken should never be at the same level as SF.
-
Kinda makes me wish I still played fighting games.
I loved Tekken back in the day.
-
:hump
-
I'm still amazed they went with tekken.
-
This is going to be awesome. Getting both the Namco and Capcom games day 1.
3rd Strike with GGPO for XBLA is going to be great too.
:bow Capgod strikes back
-
I'm still amazed they went with Tekken
versus what other game. What other fighting game sells in America in any numbers outside of Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tekken, or Soul Calibur.
-
I don't know. I just don't like Tekken. Street Fighter vs Virtua Fighter would be amazing. But since this is handled by the guys at Capcom, I bet I'll love it anyways and they'll manage to make Tekken playable for me.
-
Okay, the gameplay vid was sick. I doubt I'll care for the crossover game made by the Namco devs though.
-
I don't know. I just don't like Tekken. Street Fighter vs Virtua Fighter would be amazing.
I won't argue the quality of fighting games since I don't play them but honestly these mash-ups simply seem to be what is popular or what sells. I'm not sure why sticking Tekken characters in Streetfighter is worse than Virtua fighter characters outside of what an individual thinks is cool.
That being said obviously Virtua Fighter has hardcore niche appeal in this country although it certainly doesn't seem to be a big seller. I understand though that among the hardcore Virtua Fighter has more cred than Tekken.

Lyte's wallet is gonna cry. :lol Are you gonna get both console versions of SFXTekken and TekkenXSF?

Actually, Capcom vs Sega....
oh man
Anyways can't wait to use that one chick from Tekken 5 on SF x TK

-
the one disappointment from SF x T footage is that the game's flow looks pretty similar to SF4's. I figured it'd be faster. Not MvC2 fast, but all of the Capcom Versus games tend to be on the fast side.
-
FUCK that looks amazing
:bow CAPGOD :bow2
-
Guys you're missing out on the fact that NAMCO is making Tekken x Street Fighter. Which is the game developed with Tekken gameplay in mind.
How the fuck would that even work? How would projectiles work with Tekken gameplay? It's easy to put Tekken characters in SF because all Tekken characters use melee and there's no projectiles, and there are quite a few SF characters that don't have projectiles so that'd be an easy transition. But SF characters in a Tekken game is a whole different ball game. I'm shocked to say I'm more interested in Tekken x Street Fighter than SF x T just to see how in the world it'd work.
-
Tekken Vs Street Fighter by Namco.
Street Fighter Vs Tekken by Capcom.
Two games? Why?
I'm more interested in the Namco game anyway. I haven't played a SF game since SFII on the SNES.
-

It's basically going to be SFIV - the $60 Tekken characters DLC pack + tagging.
I'm really hoping they take out focus just to change up the gameplay from SFIV.
-

Smash Bros.
:teehee
-
Seriously, how would SF characters work with tekken gameplay? Tekken x SF seems to be the one that's not a straight up cash in here.
-
Tekken has laser beams and stuff. It'll be fine. Just gotta dodge or crouch dash or block them.
-
Tekken has laser beams?

-
There's a big difference between that, and a ranged Street Fighter character. Either way, that game is going to be interesting and I can't stand Tekken outside of Tekken Tag. I wonder how they're going to pull it off.
-
I would guess that fireballs won't be a huge issue in Tekken since you can just sidestep them. They'll probably only be safe to use during combos and juggles, or else the recovery could leave you wide open for some big damage.
But who cares, FIGHTING GAMES ARE MORE ALIVE THAN EVER HOLY MOTHER OF MARY IN HEAVEN I CANT BELIEVE IT WTF WHERE ARE MY SEDATIVES AAAAHHH
-
It's the 90's!
-
Tekken side-step system versus projectile characters...
that...shows promise. You could potentially throw a hadouken, the other player will side step it, giving you the opportunity to rush in and throw, creating a perfect bait opportunity. Wait, throws work with side stepping characters in Tekken right? Either way, this could give Tekken a level of dimension it's lacking for me.
-

Uh...

Fuck Tekken.
-
sorry boo

it's all good :tophat
-

My guess is that it'll conform entirely to Tekken gameplay. Projectiles will not be a factor, all of the inputs will be changed to traditional 3D commands, and the moveset will be greatly expanded.
-
Seriously, how would SF characters work with tekken gameplay? Tekken x SF seems to be the one that's not a straight up cash in here.
They would likely remove the projectiles and give them normals/specials that are similar to the characters' supers.
Look at Kazuya. He has a "shoryuken" and "hurricane kick" in the game. Look at Paul. His smashing fist could easily be used in place of a fireball.
Without knowing anything, it's a good assumption to make that if you like SF-style games, you'll want to give SF X Tekken a chance, and if you like 3D fighters, Tekken X SF will be your thing.
The two games are going to be completely different from each other. They even said that the two teams are not sharing information with each other and are free to change up the character designs as they see fit to. I wouldn't even take the demo shown as any kind of indication that's what the final game will look like, graphically. It's not supposed to be out for like two years (damn!). Ono said that they are thinking of going with a more classic character roster (read: SSF2T Vs. Tekken 2) but the Namco crew could go a different route entirely. Since (S)SF4 already brought back all the SF2 people (again), that's already a little disappointing, but I guess this game could end up simply being "SSF4 Turbo" anyway.
-
A game with Street Fighter in it without a hadouken :lol Gotta see this

I'm sure Ryu will still spam fireballs in the 3d one.
-
The side that's going to get gimped the most is the Tekken cast in the 2d one unless they make up moves and give them projectiles. If the entire Tekken side has no projectiles it'll be :lol

They will do something to make up for it or give them new moves. It's not like you need projectiles in Street Fighter. Quite a number of characters don't have any of them. I don't see Rufus/Gief/Honda/Bison/Cammy/etc players complaining about a lack of projectiles.
A game with Street Fighter in it without a hadouken :lol Gotta see this
:facepalm.jpg
What I'm saying is that the fireballs will still be there, albeit in a changed-up form. This is all just guessing anyway. Namco hasn't said anything.

??? Not sure if want ???
-
So let's say in Tekken x SF, Ryu's hadouken COULD be just a small spark coming from his fists and the move would be more akin to a thrust like Akira in Virtua Fighter? I was thinking it'd probably be like the hadouken in Street Fighter the movie (live action) where Ryu throws a hadouken but it's like a small, wimp, sparkling thing.
-
It COULD be like that. They could also go with huge projectiles (against what seems like the better alternative of scrapping them). Can't say. I'm not terribly optimistic that Namco's version will turn out very well, in any case.
-
I hope they're completely unable to balance these games and scrap the idea.

In the gameplay video you can see Kazuya dash under/through Ryu's fireball (and then get kicked and wall bounced), so it probably won't be a problem.

You have to pay for the costumes? That's gay.

It's been like that since the original SF4.

Tekken vs. Street Fighter - 3D by the people who can fucking make a 3D fighting game

Seems fucking obvious to me.
I will still only be buying the Capcom game though. Fuck 3D fighting games.

The Soul Calibur team is developing this? Or is it Sega?
