Get a job :smug
-
Haha bet yall was gonna come in and type "Buy a PS3" :lol
-
Download Steam instead. :smug
-
XBL went up in price? Fuck.
-
get a pc :)
-
:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol NO POWER GREATER THAN X
-
Oh, it's in November. Well, considering I have a hard time justifying the current price for how little time I actually spend playing online, looks like 2011 just about wraps it up for me and XBL.
-
Just $10 more?
Not enough MS, I wanted to shell out more. Sure is tough being a fanboy viral these days.
-
oh, and don't think you'll continue getting that free ride forever, methodis
i guarantee any form of console online will cost next go around
-
:lol
BTW, you guys are welcome. Or did you all forget who gave you a shitload of free Live?
-
The only thing you gave me was a ban.
-
That's because you are a loser. Hope this helps
-
I thanked you in the random gaming talk thread. :bow2
-
$10 more?...pfft,you don't need a job for that
-
That's because you are a loser. Hope this helps
This just prooves that Sony cares about their fans where's Microsoft doesnt.
-
i always miss all the free live stuff :(
-
Why would I buy a PS3? That is about 4 years of Live. A much better deal.
-
$10 more?...pfft,you don't need a job for that
Yes, handjobs should cover that and more.
-
That's because you are a loser. Hope this helps

the only thing i see is sony kicking themselves in the ass over offering it for free and watching that river of xbl dollars roll by
don't think nintendo hasn't noticed it, either
i just don't play enough online to make any of it worth it, really
-
me either thats why i dont buy xbl or psn plus. if i played online i would care but all i do is watch netflix
-
XBL until 2012
(http://imgur.com/O5cyU.jpg)
-
Don't care. I'm tanked up until 2012 or so thanks to Demi.
Even still I think I can scrounge up $10 over the course of a year.
-
:rofl
I can't believe MS is doing this. Absolutely distinguished mentally-challenged.
-
XBL until 2012
Perfect :smug
-
distinguished mentally-challenged move - and we have Sony to thank. If it wasn't for their cocksucking PLUS pay for service then MS wouldn't be able to point at it and go "Look at this pay for service! it's fucking DIRE compared to ours! We have clearly been under charging! Up those $$$ people!".
stupid dumb move from MS.
maybe if microsoft cared about their consumers and gave away free games like sony does or a extended warranty then it would be different
hope you like paying a premium
NO POWER GREATER THAN X
-
I'll still be good 2 years from Sept. 12th. :smug
the 362 will be out by then.
-
What exactly do you get for free / rent with XBL Gold? NOTHING. You have to pay for everything. AND you get advertisements.
:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol
-
he's got you there
-
It's true, XBL has always been a scam. But at least party chat is nice.
-
Did a jew take over MS' Live division?
-
Pick up a year subscription card at the Microsoft Store suckas
-
Maybe I should download Steam...
Naaaaaaaah.
-
Why would installing a virus on your PC justify the new price? ???

I'm sure nintendo has noticed. But with all their "expanding audiences" rhetoric I doubt there going to start charging for online. If anything I suspect their next online service to be kinda like the one they have now, except with demos, one universal friend code/username, and a genuine communication solution.
-

At least it's a free virus.
-
Steam is a virus? ???
-
Nintendo should have a Virtual Console annual fee instead of forcing you to pay for each overpriced rom dump individually. Or they can give both options.

This would require maintaining user accounts and like, needing the console to be online to play your rom dumps. Not gonna happen!
-
And increasing the price for the service aint that outlandish
however

I do agree that this is the real problem. If you could access everything for one blanket cost ... it be acceptable?
-
Tons of Devs/Pubs would love to make DLC free (many have been vocal), the problem is that iti is Microsoft's playground and what they say goes.
-
:lol
BTW, you guys are welcome. Or did you all forget who gave you a shitload of free Live?
:bow Free Live 'till 2013 :bow2
-
... That doesn't make any sense.
There's is free dlc on the marketplace yes? You make it sound like Microsoft forces publishers to charge for dlc when they wouldn't want to.
-
Yet Sony allows free DLC all the time (Mafia 2)
-
... That doesn't make any sense.

They do. Cliffy B said Microsoft forced him to charge for Gears DLC.
-
Considering the fall update will have a voice chat upgrade (audio will be of a higher quality), I'm sure there are other things like a larger friends list or ESPN3 that they can hold up as being worth more money. It's not, but it'll be enough for a good fraction of people to get over it for the most part.
You have to pay extra for ESPN3, and only certain people can get it.
-

Rockstar couldnt make a pack free, so they bundled it with their upcoming DLC for Red Dead Redemtion. They said there was a limit on what they could do for free.

Gears of War was published by Microsoft. Understandable.

Yeah, this is just distinguished mentally-challenged. I'm kinda ignorant about THIS side of gaming, but it really sounds like Microsoft is way too up in other people's kool-aid here.
-
not my problem

Also why Valve never issued an update for TF2 on XBL, and why the L4D packs cost money on 360. There's your reason for Gabe Newell coming out onstage during the Sony E3 conference.
-
Sony = the gamers company. :bow
Microsoft = the stock markets company :smug
Nintendo = :lol :lol :lol :lol
-
You're right, Nintendo is the jolliest company around.
Iwata: [laughs]
-
Their machines PRINT MONEY. Why wouldn't they be jolly?
-
Nintendo has online?
-
goddammit, i already hate paying for xbl, and i really only use it for l4d and netflix. looks like i'll be spending a lot more time with my ps3
-
Pick up a year subscription card at the Microsoft Store suckas
Pick up 40 1 month subscriptions cards from the internet store.
:bow demi :bow2

couldn't they just offer a free XBLAH game to make it seem somewhat reasonable? I only saw one page on gaf, but people defend it by saying things like "it's just $10". $10 gets you a game, or did before downloadable game prices increased by $5. Give gold subscribers Trials HD for free; increase the value and culture the audience in one swoop :tophat
all I know is that Demi saved me $240 now instead of $200. Demi :bow2

Why would they give away something for free when arguably this will have no effect on their bottom line? (negative effect I mean) It's a business. And whether I want to pay that price or not only concerns them on the bottom line. I mean I have no problem with somebody saying they don't want to pay for online gaming. That's cool. But I always find it weird when people still sort of think these companies are our buddies or make decisions based on being our friends. This goes for all of them. This is like internet fodder that draws big threads on gaf but ultimately doesn't matter. In the end it is $10. If somebody wants to pay that. They will. (me) If they don't they won't which is also valid.
-
Xlol 360.
-
But Valve is our Buddie! They do everything we want!
Yep. They've got the best trojan horse program selling you software and taking a cut off the top scheme going ;)
I'm definitely not trying to say that some companies aren't better for consumers than others. Or that people shouldn't vote with their dollars to reward some companies who have better policies in place than others.
I just find it a bit weird when people treat these companies like their best friends instead of just another cable company or utilities company. That's why they exist. To steal every bit of money you have. Not aimed at Linkzg btw. Just a general observation I've wanted to get off my chest for awhile now. It's Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo. Not your best friends. They all have policies in place or prices on their hardware in other cases that soak you. That's the price of console gaming. If it's not your thing then bail.

:lol

All I meant was that some people are slow enough to think that an extra item increases the value. No different than "I got Wipeout HD for free with PSN Plus! I just have to pay $50 a year to subscribe". Maybe it is just their justification for buying that stuff, or maybe it was what put them over the edge. I just think that, potentially, there is more to gain than lose if they offered an old game as part of the package. I don't think it is unlikely if only for that time Microsoft gave away that scuba game when Live went down for a bit.
-
monster hunter tri is the only wii game worth playing online
coincidentaly it doesn't use friend codes,it let you talk with strangers so you can molest little children and it doesn't run off nintendo service
-
Demi, id be all over you if you werent into fat hairy slobs.
Demi :bow2
you saved me a shitload of money i wouldnt have payed anyway

This is obviously to cover the cost of the Kinect disaster.

Like I said I was more using your post as a jump off point to attack a certain attitude. Not even necessarily an attitude you were displaying per se but one that I've seen voiced. The only reason that thread over there is so big is because its just another front on the console war.
But from a legit standpoint the only reason they would offer something for free is if they see a business benefit to it. And for them I'm sure this is a pretty easy one. This isn't bad enough from their perspective that they need to do such a thing. MS only gives away something for free when they think it needs a boost that free marketing gives it, or its a loss leader. Like adding ESPN. For them to give away something right on the heels of raising the price is like admitting they are doing something wrong. And they would never ever do that because that questions the very idea of paying for Xbox Live.
-
not everyone can rake in cash off of ssi checks, dumi
-
This price increase only affects Xbox LIVE Members in Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom or the United States.

And you said exactly what I was essentially trying to say but much more concise.

btw these are the sort of annoying asses like in this op that I was targeting earlier with my comments.

If XBL pricing was increasing where I live I'd be super pissed, as we dont get Netflix and whatnot here!
Still, expiry is in 2012 thanks to the best scam ever 8)
We need a scam for free MS points now, I could use 10000 or so.
-
I've started just getting a month when a game comes out. After a month, I'll probably get rid of it anyhow.
In Canada, it's actually only the monthly rate that's going up by a buck. The annual rate is staying the same.
-
So people paying $50 for Playstation Plus and now MS increases XBL by $10 dollars
:'(
-
And distinguished black fellow Ops

PSN+ comes with free games each month + a lot of discounts. A much better value than Xbox Live.

How are those games FREE?
Not, I guess. LOL
But it's still better than paying for XBL. Only Microjew is asking a fee for online gaming nowadays.
I think I'm going to upgrade to PSN+. There are some awesome deals going on.

Shut up, I still have until November 1st to fix that...
