Title: Let's pour an E-tank for Mega Man
Post by: Himu on July 23, 2011, 01:46:19 PM
Since there's not any Mega Man projects currently and Capcom seems bent on turning down any Mega Man related thing (mvc3 dlc character for instance) we might as well just celebrate the good times.

What are your favorite MM games? What are your favorite robot masters? What's your favorite MM series?

Rest in peace (for now) sweet prince

My favorite MM series is a toss up between Mega Man X and Mega Man Zero.

I still think Mega Man X4 is the best Mega Man has to offer.

First Mega Man, then Amy Winehouse. Is nothing in this world sacred?!  :(

Be honest, you only created this thread because you've just thought of a title.

The X series will always be my favorite, but I also love the Zero series, and the first 2 or 3 Battle Network games.

I loved the first three.  I loved breaking Mega Man 3 by using that super jump cheat.  MM9 and 10 are alright, but I like the first three the best.  The arcade fighting game was pretty cool too.  I downloaded isos of MML1 and 2 cause of all the hype for MML3, might give them a try some day.  From what I hear MML1 kinda sucks, so should I just skip to MML2?

I like the series but once again, internet fans quickly squandered any possible sympathy by overblowing some shit.  It's like no one could just think to ignore or at least, not give as much reaction to the EU Twitter guy, as it's obvious that Capcom Japan is the one who made the decision.  And that, like all Japanese game companies with international branches, their international branches are barely above forum-poster level, in terms of control over and information about the Japanese branch, who literally calls all the shots.  But no, now MML3 bitching comments are a cancer on all streams and forums.   I don't know, maybe I'm asking too much for people to chill.

The reason I even mention that is because there's nothing to indicate that Mega Man is dead.  So MML3 got canceled and there's nothing in the pipeline that we know about.  They're not going to react quickly to internet fans and make a formal announcement of a new game or something just because a couple hundred people are spamming about mega man.  They're smart enough to know that this "controversy" is a drop in the ocean, as nobody outside of a couple thousand nerds has any deep brand loyalty (or is even informed enough to care about what company makes what games.)  Because of this, they don't have to react or make statements in any serious capacity.

The fans' displays of emotion are enough to tell Capcom that next time anything the mention anything Mega Man related, the people bitching the loudest will probably be the happiest and the first in line for the overpriced, high profit margin Collector's Edition when Capcom "changes" and gives them a Mega Man game.

Why do people keep bringing up MML3? Fuck MML3. There hasn't been a non-classic MM in years. Some of us like MMX and MMZ.

MML2 is great, as is Tron Bonne.

well, my point was to ease off the doom and gloom that MM is dead.  but if you didn't want to hear about MML3, your timing for a MM thread is bad.

they haven't released a Starforce game in years?  Maybe I started taking their 10 times a year releases for granted.

Well, what I meant was that people are acting like MM fans are doom and gloom just because of MML3, when MML3 is really just one element when there's multiple reasons and different parts of the fanbase. Some people flat out don't like classic MM. They prefer the more speedy MMX. The last game in that area was MMZXA, which was average and that came out how long ago? 2007? That's almost the same age as Evilbore!

Universe could've been amazing if they had stuck to 2D and didn't fuck the physics/controls up. Sadly, what I played was pretty shitty.

I was hoping MM Universe would be like Konami Wai Wai World on the NES (an action platformer that let you play as a bunch of different Konami characters), but as far as I know it was turning out to be a LittleBigPlanet type game. So I guess I won't miss it.

It'd mostly be amazing just to download whatever inevitably bad ass shit jarosh would come up with. I bet he'd make some sweet, sweet Mega Man,

Is MegaMan some american thing? I don't know anyone who likes it.

I always assume everyone is being ironic with their love for Megaman, the same way they love Zelda or Metal Gear

NES Megaman was quite popular in Europe. SNES and onward it lost it's appeal somehow. I don't even know what Legends is besides not-a-platformer, never heard of it outside of people on gaf clamoring for a third one...

it's an action adventure game with tank controls, there are dungeons to explore, loot to find,a shitload of weapons to get... it's the kind of game that makes you all giddy when you find a chest oh and it got a bunch of incompetent sky pirates as villain so you know it's good stuff

the third game in the series is particulary amusing because you take control of the incompetent sky pirates which are mostly composed by these guys

so yeah basicaly you control an horde of : D looking robot into stealing the shit out of everything and it's awesome

mml3 cancellation sucks because fans of mml had been waiting TEN YEARS for it, and now there undoubtedly will never be another one.  classic mm fans got a couple new games released a few years ago, mmx fans got the whole mmz series, but us mml fans will be forever neglected :(

anyway, here's to mm2&3, mmx1&4, mmz3, mml2, mmpu, and all the other mm games that were fucking amazing.  rip blue bomber

you know personaly i thought MML3 just feel un-natural,you are doing the game because fans want it? what a silly reason,at this point you might as well start doing 2D sidescrolling beat'em up again,i'm pretty sure there will be someone that wants it

Luckily for me there's still a shitload of megaman games I never played.  Yummy so many options.

I watched my brother play legends, looked godawful.

Legends is a really, really rough game that gets by more on its style and charm than on its gameplay.  Legends 2 took the concept and actually made a far more playable game out of it.

legends 2 has that water dungeon
seriously fuck every water dungeon
every single one of them! >:(

Still kinda want a new X game, even though I hear the story went to crap later in the series (only played X1 and X3.)

I'd love if they stuck to sprites or went with some hand-drawn digital art, but at this point I'd settle for 2.5D or vector art.

Wanting a new X game and you've only played X 1 and 3? Go ahead a play 2 and 4! 2's design is much better than 3's, and I felt 4 was second best of the series. Also, despite it's flaws, 5 is good fun as well. Past that is when the series goes really downhill.

I couldn't even get through MMX3. I've never beaten it. The repetitive enemy palette and average level designs kill it for me on top of the randomness that is switching from Zero to X. In comparison, X4 is my favorite MM game.

I like MMX2 more than MMX1, but I get sick of fighting the bonus bosses every time I play it.

For me it goes like: MMX4 > MMX2 > MMX1 > MMX5 > MMX8 > the rest don't matter

Like-wise, with classic MM:

MM2 = MM9 = MM3 > MMPU > MM6 > MM10 > MM5 > MM7 > MM > MM4 > MM8

you know here's how it worked, like around 10 years ago i had this huge megaman boner and i played like every megaman game ever,i played all of 6 nes megaman,i played X1,X2,X3,i played rockman & forte and megaman 7,i even played the gameboy version of them (did i mention the gameboy version of 5 has original bosses named after planets?) but i'll be damned if i can remember anything other than i love megaman 2

I'm surprised at the love for command mission.  Its less talked about than the weird soccer/kart offshoots and publications were very dismissive of it in that era.  It never registered on my radar at the time, although I was elbow deep in the awesome of Viewtiful Joe.

edit:  Wait, I was thinking of that other Cube Megaman that no one ever talks about something something Transmission?

I will, as soon as they're put on the Virtual Console. :P Or I find the carts cheap somewhere.

Oh wait. Some of them were on PS1 weren't they.  :-\

Edit- Oh wait the GC collection, yeah I might just pick that up.

Although the GC controller is garbage for 2D. :/

I really don't. In fact I wish it would have as little story as possible. Which is why I fear the later entries in the series, apparently they got invasive with the story?
