Post by: demi on July 25, 2011, 08:10:52 AM: The domain (evilbore) is set to expire around the end of the week, and countless calls to Swineco were left unanswered so we could get it moved over under our care. So unless something changes, you might find that we disappeared under not so mysterious circumstances. Unless we swoop in and buy it while it's available.

Because of this, we took the liberty of grabbing two new domains, and when I get to settig them up, nothing should be different.

For those who read this thread by the end of the week, bookmark these domains:

Fortunately it only lasted a couple months - I think they might have just been experimenting with the tactic and ultimately decided against it.

Your work actually blocked a site that probably only you are reading? Why the hell don't they just write you up a couple times and then fire you? Seriously, that's some passive-aggressive garbage.

The company I work for is part of a larger organization that recently put our department under a new server. Since the server change a lot of sites were blocked if they hit certain tags. Evilbore was tagged under "Games" and was blocked. I guess the change to The Bore bypassed that. Not going to get fired for it. That would mean shutting down the company since everyone here uses their computers to browse the web during downtime.

Actually I've been meaning to ask this too but what is the deal with this site's internal search? The few times I've tried using it seems to take forever or not finish at all. Sometimes it even takes the whole site down for me as well to the point where I have to close it and wait a few minutes before I attempt to go on again. Is that just on my end or is that normal behaviour?

The search is fucked but I think it is because of some settings I dont have (for example, indexing is disabled afaik) - I suggest that when people search, you drill down and search exactly of what you are looking for instead of a catch-all. You can be surprised how useful the search is then.
