Fixin' some physics and adding some endings. And error shit so you thugs don't break the game by being dumb

Years in the making, the Evilbore's Duke Nukem Forever. :bow2
-
Awesome. PM me if you want some people to try and break it for you.

Shit worked like crap on my old pc.
:bow Guillod :bow2

HTML5 or bust.
stfu.
Just kidding. HTML5 is great except for the fact that it's mercilessly under supported, under documented and under utilized. I;m not gonna spend 400 hours doing it in H5 when I could spend like 2 hours doing it in AS

SUCK MY COCK

If you know JS it would probably only take 3 hours... Well doesn't matter now. :P
-
in honor of this occasion i have changed the front page
-
:lol
-
Dumpster > Plinko
-
:bow
-
I wonder what the source of the human figure was. Looks oddly familiar :ninja
-
Just want to chime in,
Rape dumpster is awesome.
-
Yup
-
Best front page ever. :lol
-
No seriously. Great front page. Slick and minimal.

Gonna try and finish this up today. I don't really have much left to do, just being lazy. I'll probably put out the first version in the nezt day or two and then re-write the physics engine for a better release next week. There's a weird bug where the puck can get stuck going in the same direction for 5 or 6 hits. I re-wrote my collision class so I can better reporting on where it hit to create more realistic physics, but that;s a pain and I'll implement it next week or sometthhhhinnnggggg
-
Yearrrgh. Gonna have to wait until tomorrow- CS5 started acting crazy on my work machine. It'll save like 75% of my work, but the other 25% it'll revert to whatever was in the last save. Not good.
-
Arrrrrghghghhhghg. I'll literally open an object, swap it's base class, click okay and then CS5 will just swap the class back to whatever it was before. What the fuck?
-
Good luck GilloD, I have googled plinko since I don't know what the hell it was.
-
In HTML5, you just use basic text editors. 8)

Yeah, if you're gonna rag on my boy GilloD, you better be packing more than hot air and an animu avatar, Andrex.

Should be done this month. :-\

Looks like you're using someone else's library. Meh... GilloD's is from scratch.
-
Looks like you're using someone else's library. Meh... GilloD's is from scratch.
Well I don't think anybody's made a library for Plinko...
Besides that using Flash is almost like using a library in itself. Sometimes it's powerful and sometimes it's a pain in the ass. :lol
-
I'd actually volunteer to make a HTML5 version but I have no idea how you play Plinko. :lol
Maybe Himuro pinball or something, heh.
-
Plinko: you drop a coin in a slot, it bounces of pins on the way down, it lands in one of the slots.
See: Peggle without the shooting and power ups.

So... there's no user interaction whatsoever? It's just random?

I'd rather make Demi's Bore-ing World, where you play as demi trying to free The Bore from Willco.
-
So... there's no user interaction whatsoever? It's just random?
That's the joke.
-
Yeah, it's an oldschool thing, used to be made out of wood and nails.
-

HTML5 is nice, but it's woefully undersupported and full of weird wiggles. I understand your evangelism for the product, but give it a few years. Plinko is ridiculously easy to program, I got the core stuff done in like an hour and then I've just been a lazy fuck.
-

Ah yeah, cool. Can't wait to "play" it. :P
-
I don't know how old you are, but I get it: You're totally excited to be a programmer and really, really excited to be working in an up and coming language. That's awesome! It's a killer skill you have and you're on the cutting edge. But you really need to be less antagonistic about the way you evangelize your excitement.
I love love love the idea of H5, but I work in Flash because the install base is enormous, it's ridiculously easy to prototype and a portal like Kongregate.com can get a (popular) game upwards of a million hits. In contrast, my buddies who work at an app studio were over the moon that they moved 400k units.
We all understand why H5 is a "better" platform- It's open, it's accessible, it's native to the browser. And in 10 years it might well be THE dev language. I hope so! In the meantime, try and understand why Flash is still a serious going concern and why someone might use it. When you start chattering about H5, try and provide some examples other than ITS BETTER DUH.
As for "play", you're right. There's not a lot to "do" in Plinko. But there's also not a lot to "do" in Slots and they rake in billions of dollars a year- We, as a species, are wired for an attraction to random elements. We get an especially wonderful dopamine boost from unexpected rewards. Something like a slot machine or a Pachinko game make us feel good because we get to 'quest' for a pattern (Of which there is none) and we get a healthy boost of feel good chemicals when we 'win'. Point being: Even if there is less to "do" in a random game of chance, on aggregate you're likely to have a better time.
It's also a lot of work to get the physics right. When I release mine, take a peek: My physics are a wacky mess. There's a particularly hilarious bug where the puck gets stuck oscillating between moving left and right at 24 frames a second. Which is to say that there's a lot more to it than "if (puck hits peg) REBOUND".
Back to the point: I'm sure you're super smart and I'm glad you're a brave dude leading the way with H5, just learn to be a little less. Agressive?
-
So, whenever I use CS5 at work it starts getting all fucking goofy. And I found it that it was basically undoing weird little things here and there, reverting objects and changing classes on me. Such a mess. I had to start a new project at home and port eveything over. Should be another day or so. Good news: It runs better!
-
Is this game ready yet? Stop fucking around GilloD.
It was almost done before CS5 fucked it up! And I'm moving back to the US on Monday, so I'm getting durnk every night. teehee

-
You being a cunt probably.

Just joking around really.

they aren't mutually exclusive

Andrex destroyed.
Flash isn't going anywhere soon bro... it aint cool to bust a BoreBro's balls for no reason other than using flash.
I'm currently learning Flash coding myself, I have a game design project coming up, so you guys can look forward to my game too!

I really don't hate Flash, I actually love it for animating stuff. But the concept of programming games in Flash has always perplexed me I guess. But in the end it doesn't matter what you use to make a game, what matters is the game itself.

AS3 really goes a long way towards uniting the animation and gaming ends of the Flash spectrum. Games in Flash were kind of a weird abberation of the tech in AS1 and they were tolerates in AS2, but AS3 almost favors the gaming end of the spectrum.
Anyway, when I'm done here I;ll post the source and we can discuss. I didn't work on it today because I had to go to the Pension Office. 5 days left! I just made 20 grand off the pension, tax refunds and severance pay. MAD BANK

Go booze it up man. A programmer with money and a life, living the dream. :lol
Can't wait to see the code, curious how you solved some things.

this is the problem with kids. nothing even remotely aggressive or tirade-like in gilloD's post and he's never had the experience of getting sick and staying home from 3rd grade to watch the Price is Right. Although it's not too late for that :teehee
-
Should be done tomorrow- I wanted to get it done today, but then CS5 started doing that thing where it undoes work I just did. Argh. Anyway, fixed a few major issues. It needs a lot of little tweaks, but those can come later

Update!
-
vaporware.
-
Today is his last day in Korea, so I think it'll take a while.
-
Atleast it'll be American :american
-
It's COMING SOON.
-
When it's finished...
-
Don't worry guys he has half the code written!
-
The DNF of Plinko games.
Please understand.
-
This is obviously vaporware. Just make a few durnk threads and all will be forgiven.
-
good
-
Has himu black-mailed GilloD? Hmmmm......
-
fuck
-
Never forget:

I think we can put the blame on Andrex. Clearly GilloD has secretly switched engines because of this HTML5 nonsense.
Someone get Pitchford on the line. Somebody has to finish this on time.
Have demi wire me $5000 and I'll do it for free.
-
The game can be vaporware for all I care, his response to Andrex is highly entertaining with hours and hours of deep engrossing game play.

Textbook case of overreacting.

No thanks, I want someone with experiance, you know, a person who can rise above all that stands in his way...
It'd suck but at least I'd get it done. ::)
-
:lol SOMEBODY get it done, I don't give a crap who

Borys would do it for 10 euros and the ff12 artbook.
-
Make Borys an icon and he'll do it
-
If GilloD goves me his source code so far I can finish it off. I am not starting from scratch
-
Guys, he'll be back in America like tomorrow. Probably have it done in a couple days. It'll be ok, I'm pretty sure we'll survive until then.
-
Still waiting on that 5 grand demi.
Edit- Where's the original GIF?
"It's completely broken and looks like shit but it's done"
Young people smh
Hey if it works for Apple why not?
-
Please understand.
-
Sorry dudes, had a crazy last few days in Korea. I was drunk for like 4 days running. Got back to the USA like 3 days ago and I've been chillin' with my patriotic bros ever since. I'll upload the 75% done version tomorrow in the afternoon sometimes, but it'll be a week or two before I get settled in Chicago to finish up work
-
I am pleased to understand.
-
where are you at in Chi. Next time I am there I want to please understand your wife
-
Version .00000000000001 done. Pay 20 bucks and get access to the Beta, please understand.
Anyway, it's pretty shitty at the moment. Some of my photoshops are super awful. I didn't add any instructions. There's an unfinished talking Drew Carey. No animations. A weird physics bug when a puck lands on top of a peg. The left and right border walls are still visible (lul). My peg offstes got fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu'ed by that bugged version of CS5 at work.
Anyway, drag the puck from the start on the left and drop it anywhere in the header. I'm gonna be busy the next week, but should be settled in Illinois next Saturday/Sunday, so I'll make the rest of the changes then
-
I JUST GOT TO PLAY HIMURO PLINKO
I LANDED ON JEWISH
-
SHALOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
-
Oh man. This game is such a mess, haha. I can't wait until I'm settled next week to clean it up.

I can't believe this is real! :lol
