i have never watched star wars and i have no idea what's this thread is about ???
was the original different?
Nice try, magoose cooscoos.
anywayz who cares about these again? just dl it himu.
George's excuse still makes me lol. "but teh kiddies would be confused if Han did something bad." He's an amoral bounty hunter who changes just enough to get into a princess's pants. That shit pisses me off son.Yeah, this, times 100. It's as though Lucas has forgotten the role of the shapeshifter from the Campbellian structure he's mirroring.
I'd have less of a problem if the scene looked decent, but it looks like such a bad edit job no matter how many times it's tinkered with
I did a quick run-through of The Phantom Menace to see if it was still bad and, yeah, it was.I watched it in Japanese with my kids, and it's better that way. Jar-Jar doesn't have a goober rastafarian accent, and the Trade Federation guys are not poorly-veiled Asian menace types.

/complains about games often having cliches
/hasn't seen star wars and other iconic films such cliche's come from
/lives in bubble
Opened thread for Manabyte damage control. Was disappointed.

Actually he was laughing at the butthurt SW fanboys on twitter. I was shocked
How can you say that? At least the original content of The Warriors is left untouched, it's just some transition effects. George Lucas is literally going back in time, stealing your childhood, and replacing it with plastic poop.

Those are available on DVD. They're OOP now, but you can still probably find them at Best Buy for about $30 total. They're non-anamoprhic widescreen, but much better than VHS.

I got exactly what I wanted, thank you very much.
You know you've got a shit argument when you have to rely on VHS tapes to watch fucking STAR WARS.
Which are now OOP.
I really don't see the point in not allowing fans the opportunity to buy a high quality original cut of these films. They could be included in this Blu Ray set, given how much shit can be crammed on one.
btw Rumblar, I got that vhs set for like $10 at the Salvation Army lol
The visual effects shots were faced with the same problems as the conventional opticals: a deteriorated film stock (in CRI instances; in others, milder color fading), and dupe grain and dirt. The shots also contained matte lines, which were beginning to become a thing of the past as films began to utilize digital compositing. Footage from documentaries on the SE reveals that ILM had gone back to the original special effects elements, which had been meticulously saved, and then scanned and digitally recomposited them (in some instances, their placement is slightly different than the original, even though the principle was to match them as closely as possible--for instance, the seeker ball in the scene of Luke's Millennium Falcon training is positioned not quite the same as the original composite, though the difference is basically imperceptible while in motion). In American Cinematographer, it is never stated that this re-compositing process was enacted for every visual effect, but it seems that at the very least most of them were. [31] When these were finished, they were printed back onto film and cut into the O-neg, again replacing the originals. The O-neg was slowly being subsumed by new material.
Had the film remained like this, we would have a restored version of Star Wars, perfectly matching the original release but with pristine quality, even to the point where it was better than what could have been possible back then (as with the higher quality optical transitions). However, this was only part of the process of making what was eventually called "The Special Edition." ILM was working on many dozens of new shots, and an even larger amount of enhanced shots, using digital effects to re-do, expand, re-edit and otherwise alter many scenes in the film. When these were completed, they apparently were printed onto film and re-cut into the negative, replacing the original negs, which were undoubtedly put back into storage. As a result, the negative for Star Wars is filled with CGI-laden modern alterations. When Lucas says that the original version physically does not exist, this is what he really means--the negative is conformed to the Special Edition. Of course, it would be very easy to simply put the original pieces back and conform it to the original version, or use the separation masters and IPs, or simply scan the old pieces for a digital restoration, but I digress.
Where? The flea market?

you must be fucking joking
Maybe these small changes all just contribute to the reality of how corny this franchise has been all along. :smug
Search yourself, you know it to be true.
I dunno, its a grabbag of literature archtypes running around with muppets arguing about whose magic is better but ,like, in a totaly not subtle way. I can never go through them in one sitting. Maybe the fans (and of course the prequels) make it hard for me to see the redeeming qualities.
edit: And I'm pretty sure it typecasted several talented actors into oblivion or mere voicework. Poor Hamill. Which had nothing to do with my point come to think of it.
Are you posting this while playing Wii Music?
He was on Mad TV.
Mark Hamill
Maurice LaMarche
Phil LaMarr
Billy West
John DiMaggio
Tress MacNeille
Those guys are in EVERYTHING.

Like, if you've got a black guy in your show/game, Phil LaMarr is going to voice him. But if you have *two* black guys, Kevin Michael Richardson will voice the other.

i'd like to watch it
Yeah, I was pretty amazed at how good the Clone Wars show was (especially seasons 2 and 3)Season 1 was pretty average, but since then it has gotten really good. Like some of the best sci-fi on tv good. Which is something I would never expect. It's nice to see stuff put out there with the Star Wars name that is good. Kids today watching this are far luckier than the kids who grew up with the prequels. The genndy shorts were really good too.
As for the common voice actors, I'd also add Cam Clarke, Jennifer Hale, and Kevin Michael Richardson. Like, if you've got a black guy in your show/game, Phil LaMarr is going to voice him. But if you have *two* black guys, Kevin Michael Richardson will voice the other.
And Jennifer Hale is without question the most prolific female voice actor working today.
Cam Clarke is just fucking everywhere in spite of having the range of a shotput thrown by Willco.
Clone Wars is the only current animated show I keep up with and Jim Cummings plays a Bounty Hunter that is a recurring character on it so he is still around.
Jim Cummings and Frank Welker used to be among those guys, but I have no idea if either of them are still alive or not. :/
Yet somehow the Clone Wars animated series that is on right now is probably the best thing related to Star Wars since the OT. Probably since as far as I know Lucas has never written or directed an episode of it.

While George Lucas is visited in the night by the specter of Young George Lucasrattling chains laden with puppet souls and softly moaning, NOOOOOOOO!his self-described best friend Steven Spielberg has already seen the error of his ways, telling an audience at a 30th anniversary screening of Raiders Of The Lost Ark that he now repents for all of his own special edition sins. I tried this once and I lived to regret it, Spielberg said of that time he digitally inserted walkie-talkies into E.T., thereby reducing gun violence by approximately 25 percent. Yet even though our streets are safer, Spielberg says he feels bad about it not because of fan outrage, but simply because I was disappointed in myself. I was overly sensitive to some of the criticism E.T. got from parent groups when it was first released in '82 having to do with Eliot saying penis breath or the guns... And then there were certain brilliant, but rough-around-the-edges close-ups of E.T. that I always felt, if technology ever evolves to the point where I can do some facial enhancement for E.T., I'd like to.
But after his those enhancements, Spielberg had an all-too-rare moment of clarity: I realized that what I had done was I had robbed the people who loved E.T. of their memories of E.T. And I regretted that. By way of penanceand reinforced by informal audience pollSpielberg promised that the upcoming Blu-ray release of E.T. would have only the original, untouched, guns-and-penises version. Meanwhile, George Lucas began brainstorming all the ways he could incorporate those abandoned CGI walkie-talkies, if Spielberg wasnt going to use them.
Why does Spielberg still hang around with Lucuas, dude's a loserSpielberg at that same q&a said Lucas is his best friend and the greatest filmmaker he has ever worked with. :lol

He’s the greatest person I’ve ever worked with as a filmmaker/collaborator. He’s a conceptual genius, and he puts together these amazing stories, and he’s great at what he does.
Crystal Skull is one of the worst films I've ever seen. I don't see how anyone can defend it, even from a "well it was bad but had some cool action scenes!" angle

I wonder what the highest selling catalog title on Blu-Ray was before Star Wars quickly passed it.
any of the set's unreleased footage on the net yet? particularly youtube?
