I'm still bummed about Indy4. It could have been a fun adventure movie, instead Spielberg went along with Lucas shitting it up. They deserve equal blame, since Spielberg decided to direct that pos script.

The direction was just as shitty as Lucas's writing on Indy 4. Spielberg post-Schindler's List just doesn't seem able to do the light fluffy blockbusters. He lost his ability to do innocent sort of movies. Just look at the difference between Jurassic Park and The Lost World in quality. Go rewatch The Lost World, it is unwatchable. Jeff Goldblum's daughter doing kung-fu moves on raptors? He is at his best nowadays doing stuff like Munich. Hopefully Lincoln that he has out next year with Daniel Day Lewis falls into that side of things. When he tries to be the old Spielberg like he did with Indy 4 & The Lost World (and Tintin it looks like) he tends to fall flat on his face.

Crystal Skull was just kind of lazy and half-baked all the way around. Outside of some truly terrible moments [Shia swinging on vines, Shia in general, CG prairie dogs, and the refrigerator], a lot of the movie was just disappointingly mediocre.

The animated clip from the Holiday Special is up on YouTube (MUCH better quality than the old tape recordings), haven't seen anything else. It was really cool to finally see all those deleted scenes from the original trilogy. Don't know if I'll ever bother with the prequel discs, though.
