My brother is getting a 3DS for Christmas...maybe he'll hate the 3DS if I show him this.Im guessing that attachment wouldnt work with my extended battery either lulz- not that id buy it just pointing somethin out
Nyko or PDP will just put out an extended battery that with this. Imagine the size.
This one of the few times I actually burst out laughing while on the internet.
If we are to believe our source, the chairman of the board, Satoru Iwata, is now in very delicate position, if not on an ejection seat.
3DS is such a clusterfuck.
Where's Andrex? I want his spin on this.
0.1net is going into my favourites, I love me rumourslol, awesome. Fuck you Iwata, fuck you. :gunQuoteIf we are to believe our source, the chairman of the board, Satoru Iwata, is now in very delicate position, if not on an ejection seat.

I'm starting to think the DS was a massive fluke
Nah, the DS was Yamauchi's idea and plan. His last one. Things start making sense when you look at it that way.
Hey it's Wario's 1st thread here. Stick around, mang.
What could have been the reasoning to not include this second stick from the get go?
Like really?Hey it's Wario's 1st thread here. Stick around, mang.
You just had to post this again :lol
The add-on "connects" in the worst way I could entertain when wondering about the rumors: using the IR port, which requires wrapping around the entire unit, blocking the wireless switch, the SD card, stylus and game card slots. So you'll need to remove it every time you want to access any of those features.
And since it doesn't connect to the power slot, it cannot provide additional battery life and will require batteries itself to power the IR connection. No matter how cheap it is, the inconvenience is massive: I can see people leaving the add-on home when they take them 3DS with them.
- slide pad itself is said to look identical to the system's current slide pad
- release date and price TBA
- attachment clips onto the whole 3DS
- attachment sticks out 1cm at left, 2-3 cm at right, 2cm at bottom and 2-3 cm thickness
is Tri without shitty underwater combat
The game will reportedly retain the water elements of Wii's Monster Hunter 3
wait is this legit!?

I bet there's never a dual analog revision and this remains a sidelined peripheral for a couple games like Monster Hunter, which won't do well relative to the PSP heavy hitters anyway....
I don't want 3DS to fail. I thought it was a nice decision to stay simple and keep with stylus + dpad/slider input, they just need to have better portable sensibilities with battery life in mind. Left analog/dpad + stylus + right analog would be a clusterfuck. I think it's ugly enough moving your hand to the screen from the face buttons on vita let alone going from the face buttons to stylus input. It's good (sometimes) to give devs options too though so :/ Anyway it's nice remembering when 3DS was announced and I thought either Sony were fucked or out of the game :lol I'm happy the tides have changed.
Even further proof that you should never buy a first generation Nintendo handheld.
Ambassadors = suckers
You should never buy the first generation of *any* hardware. Especially nowadays. From the DS launch onwards we've had:
DS: Ugly as shit, shitty screen
PSP: Square-button, shitty blurry screen
360: RRoD
PS3: YLoD
Wii: lol it's a wii
iPhone: lol
3DS: lololololol
Even further proof that you should never buy a first generation Nintendo handheld.

after getting burned by first-gen DS, PSP, 360, PS3, and Wii, I finally sat out the 3DS launch. I'M LEARNING
01net also called IWATA GETTING THE BOOT :hyper
I kind of want this to happen. I don't think it will happen anytime soon, 01net or not, but I want it to happen for some reason.
Of course, these are just my speculations and given my track record for the last while, they are almost certainly wrong.
I think we are spending too much time focusing on how dumb the analog stick looks, and not enough time focusing on how the thing is TWICE AS THICK AS THE 3DS ITSELF

Gamecube :bowMan the 'cube was so rad. WTF happened? :gloomy
I was counting situations where the early adopters got screwed, not where *everyone* got screwed.
Wii: lol it's a wii
generally machines last longer if you don't use them, yes
the launch ps3 is the definitive version, but i would definitely say paying $599 for a PS3 is the definition of being screwed
iunno, 01net's called for a hardware revision, and at this point i'm inclined to believe them
the launch ps3 is the definitive version, but i would definitely say paying $599 for a PS3 is the definition of being screwed
I also paid $299 for GC WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
That's part of the speculation, since it now has every input the Wii U controller has. They're probably preparing the 3DS for cross platform titles, such as Smash Brothers (or to be used as a Wii U controller, maybe). In other words, people hoping it would be a Monhun only accessory are in for a surprise.
I thought the Dreamcast had some version where the disc drive died?
i actually see the launch PS3 as the definitive version , at least - the 60gb version
Fully (almost) BC - stupid glitches at the start that got ironed out - now gone
SACD support - now gone
Multi-AV out - going
No YSOL for me yet - stilll going like a tank.
GC was an awesome little machine - didn't even mind the handle.
after this last generation with your sweet princes at sony, it's nice for the shoe full of shit to be on another company's foot, eh third?
iPad is sort of the only hardware that's launched that hasn't been shite, unless I'm ignoring something.
That $299 GC I got was the SEX BLACK Metroid Prime bundle.
I never played:
- a Metroid game
- an FPS on console
before.
I was in for a H U G E fucking shock.
Few years later and I have completed pretty much all pre-Wii Metroid games (2D, 3D).
:bow Metroid :bow2
Other M is about as good as any of the Prime games.
Yes, I love it.
When Nintendo fails at something, they fail hard. Can't wait for Wii U. Sound like a disaster in the making. 8)
it's going to be awesome, because i can't see any way it actually succeeds
Quotewho are the denialists who don't see the hardware revision writing on the wall?
this shit is so built in by March 2012 or my name's not ... whatever my current avatar name is
i expect the new model revealed next week
i then expect to see crazy ninthings pull the "yeah, this addon is shit - i always thought it was - i mean, who isn't going to buy the new 3DS ? looks amazing! Vita is DOA now for sure!" posts right after it.
"I actually prefer the controller add-on to the redesign - the extra heft makes the system easier to hold. It brings back fond memories of the original Xbox controller."The only handheld that can cripple both your hands and eyes

Also - i love the idea that people are apparently sitting around going "gosh... 3ds or Vita? 3ds or Vita?"
they've already DECIDED on the 3DS - a resounding DO NOT WANT. So why would they be thinking that? I'm sure it's either "want Vita!" or "... don't give a shit , same as i did with the 3DS". There is no one-or-the-other.

OMFG i've just had a vision of what's going to happen next tuesday at the Nintendo conference.
They're going to unveil a NEW DS, not a new 3DS per se..... a NEW DS.
It's going to be called DSXL++ or something similar. It'll have the DS XL form factor, but with the 3DS controls + a second analogue stick and the ability to play 3DS games but only in 2D. It will have Wifi built in. It might add back in GBA compatability via slot. "Large" internal storage (16gig)
$250
Laughter.

And wouldn't you laugh at the games the ambassadors were "exclusively" given being sold to regular customers as well?

Kojima productions` foreign staff comments from their latest podcast.
“I saw it today in the office. I mean I’m sure it’ll enhance gameplay… it’s a little big.” – Christopher Johns
“It feels good I think… it feels good. It’s just it’s an add-on, so I think the only concern is how will that kind of split through the users. Because there are people who are gonna wanna just carry around a really portable 3DS and then maybe only the really hardcore guys want to play some FPSs on there or something will maybe want to get that attachment.” – Sean Eyeston
“I don’t know if people want to carry it around, right? That might be the tough part.” – Christopher Johns
“It is kind of big.” – Sean Eyeston
“I think it adds a new level to gameplay, so it’s definitely worth it.” – Christopher Johns
“Gameplay-wise I think it definitely adds a lot. It’s just size-wise and I guess aesthetics, right?” – Sean Eyeston
“For those who do play for long periods of time, I think that will win over a lot of people…” – Christine Kogure
It's been reported/circulating on a few websites (very recently) now that team working on it has the add-on in studio. That coupled with the delay could possibly accommodate for that. I can't link any of them because they have the scans there in the same story.
We'll know all for sure when the conference happens. I just happen to think it seems more likely than not, especially given the overwhelming complaints about the PW control scheme.
