It's more expected. At least Sony understands where some of their competition is. Of course if they're priced like console titles and not digital titles then they're still in the same boat as Nintendo. "All your iOS favourites at 500% of the price!"

It's ok launch, nothing really must have, but I can see about 5-6 games I'm buying day 1 (Uncharted, Gravity Daze, Wipeout HD, Hot Shots Golf 6, Shinobido 2, maybe Ridge Racer/Lumines/Katamari depending on how much recycle they are).

Way better than that god awful 3ds launch for sure.

you can always buy planet of the apes on dvd and watch it on your dvd player/blu ray player.

Since games are system specific, and many systems no longer have bc, I think it's a good thing. It's not like all of us can crank out the ps2 and play an old gem, and many people haven't played these games.

I don't understand the hostility towards re-releases of old games.

My only problem is that is the only thing Vita represents now.

like dcharlie said that is not indicative of my psp experience at all. sure there were lots of ports and remakes but there was also a lot of new, fresh, innovative stuff. two years in, psp was THE puzzle system for instance. Puzzle Quotient, Lumines, Crush;etc

No internal memory is truly distinguished mentally-challenged. 32gb max won't even hold that many PSP games. VITA games are bound to have much higher quality videos that would take up a lot more space.

It's pretty LOL since this was just one conference. Everyone should have expected the Vita to not have a removable battery after all the PSP battery-related piracy issues and the Go and new Euro PSP 3000 not having removable batteries either.

Sexy hardware & a half dozen interesting launch titles.

Ys IV in 2012, and pretty much guaranteed support as all the devs like Nippon Ichi move their PSP software lineups to Vita lineups in 2012/2013.

Still in this day 1 and fairly excited about it. Only thing that bummed me about this conference was proprietary memory sticks that are stupid overpriced.

Feeling slightly better about 3DS now. 2nd analogue means hopefully less chance of awful camera in Kingdom Hearts and Bravely Default looks pretty even if it's going to be bad like 4WOL.

I don't think there is a question that this thing will bomb. I'm just in it for the PS2/PS3 era ports that I missed out on or haven't played for a while and I'm sure Falcom will put out a few good titles. The PSP is chock full of underappreciated gems and if Vita is even half of what the PSP resulted in in terms of quality late stage software, I'll have no problem with the Vita.

PSP remote play only worked with specific games like Bionic Commando Rearmed and Lair

It goes against what this device is supposed to stand for.

I know all the usual excuses for propriety route, but realistically speaking, how much cost or security concerns would equipping the Vita with a 2GB internal flash memory actually cause? The Gopher had 16!

I'm sure you could get a 64GB SDHC card cheaper than what Sony has priced their 32GB card. Such a large markup must really help with that Vita price point.

I guess it all comes down to how fast the costs of the system goes down, as I can't see them budging on stick prices before then. Considering the internals of Vita, it shouldn't take as long as their previous devices. I just hope it goes down fast enough before it causes much harm.

For some reason I was under the impression that 3 hours is the worst case scenario without network play, which is in the PSP's ballpark, but now I realize that the 3-5h estimate is given under these restrictions: type of game, all networks off, headphones on, and "default brightness" (betting it's lvl 3 out of).

Uncharted with 3G on, full brightness, and speakers sound will be joke material for years to come!
