My car is broke. So you gonna come hang out this weekend?
I'm actually getting my car back today!
FOTR: 10
TTT: 8
ROTK: 9
:bow
Two Towers was hard to adapt; the book is kind of meh compared to the others as well.

And yeah, FOTR is fucking perfection.
When I was growing up I preferred The Hobbit to LotR as well. LotR is dry. The Hobbit is colorful and fun and full of adventure! And I was worried PJ would miss out on the light fun element of the book with his addition of the Gandalf vs. Sauron material but the behind the scenes videos shows he is getting the humor with the dwarves (that glimpse of them going crazy at Bilbo's dinner table throwing plates and shit around and dancing) PERFECTLY.
I'm still kind of bummed it's a two film affair. The Hobbit is so simple, one three hour film should do. I really hope this isn't an attempt to milk itHe has the whole White Council stuff with Sauraman, the whole battle against Sauron. And we know there is a whole other elf sidestory going on with whatsherface from Lost having a large role as a elf and Orlando Bloom is down in NZ filming for 6 months, that is a bit more than a simple cameo.

You're shitting me.You didn't know about all this additional stuff? They are going to show the entire battle agaisnt the Necromancer with Gandalf, Elrond, pre-baddie Sauraman & Galadriel.
I'm going to have a fucking hard on when I watch this movie.
I was never worried about PJ not getting the humor. LOTR still has some of the most memorable lines for humor. My wife and I throw around "But what about second breakfast?" all the time.

Po-ta-toes. Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew.
We need to have a Bore meat-up to watch the entire FOTR Trilogy Extended Edition Blu-Rays and have a 12 hours non-stop wankfest.
I'm in.
wtf Frodo in Hobbit? huh?Yeah, Elijah Wood has been confirmed officially to be in The Hobbit playing Frodo Baggins.
First movie is real good.
Rest are ok.
I dozed off in the theater during Fellowship. Watching it again later, it's easily the best one. TT and ROTK are both pretty bad.
It really isn't just The Hobbit. There is tons of other stuff he is having in there as well. I mean Legolas wasn't even in the Hobbit but Orlando Bloom is filming for 6 months. There is a lot more going on in this.
Legolas is going to be front and center in the Battle of the 5 armies from what I have read.
Tons of surfboarding Legolas and the like it seems but I don't give a fuck it's The Hobbit I can't wait.
you know what sucked about the return of the king?
totally cut out the scouring of the shire. that made the book! they even teased it in the galadriel scence iirc. lazy!

It was already over 4 hours long. You really wanted them to add another hour and a half?

Screw you guys for not remembering The Matrix.
Screw you guys for not remembering The Matrix.
The Matrix was a good movie
Not a good trilogy.
TTT has a shit ton of awesome parts, but the Merry/Pippen stuff was beyond annoying. Same as in the book. And I hated that Aragorn death fakeout scene ::)
absolutely, but that's not even fair to compare. i can't think of any instance where an adapted movie has been better than the book.
The Books>The Films :smugOf course the book is better. A book is almost always better than the movie, whether we are talking about a trilogy or single film.
also i'm still made they fucked up frodo's (second) fakeout death in the spider's lair. that was one of my favorite scenes in the book.

Hell a lot of the times novelizations of movies are better than the actual movie.
The Godfather and Die Hard beg to differ.
2001: A Space Odyssey the movie is better than the book as well I think.
The Books>The Films :smug
I'd say its the average opinion (of those who read them) that the books > the films. The Books>The Films :smug
you're fucking joking
No way. The books are a bore.
Harry Potter book series was a decently enjoyable young reader book series, the films were mostly god awful.
So what I'm saying is if someone who loves a book is disappointed with the movie adaption, the book was probably shit to begin with.
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep>>>>Davinci Code (novel)>>Davinci Colde (film)=Blade Runner
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep is better than Blade Runner but I love both.
Films 3 and onward range from good to great. Suck it!Harry Potter book series was a decently enjoyable young reader book series, the films were mostly god awful.

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep>>>>Davinci Code (novel)>>Davinci Colde (film)=Blade RunnerNice troll, PD.
Sorry, the 4th HP film (and book) is fucking awful. Made me quit the whole series.I have seen it a few times and don't really remember it but I don't remember thinking it was worse than the 1st or 2nd movie. The 2nd movie is definitely the worst. Ugh.
DH part 2 is awful. The book ending ofThe ending was totally underwhelming in that regard. I was expecting something more. But I found the majority of fights boring and the ones that were exciting were way too short.spoiler (click to show/hide)Voldermort having the spell backfire on him quickly and fall into a heap on the floor in such a weak manner was awesome. Huge endlessly long lightsabe rip-off fight with him and Harry with him screaming YAAAAARRRGHHH constantly then dying by being turned into stone then literally exploding into scraps of paper just...blah.
The Snape stuff was handled very well though at least.[close]
also i'm still made they fucked up frodo's (second) fakeout death in the spider's lair. that was one of my favorite scenes in the book.
What changed? I can't remember

Sam is my favorite character in the series.
This explains a lot.
read em anyways. they're awesome
this thread should be about naked gun
Sam is my favorite character in the series.
This explains a lot.I bet finchers dragon tattoo will be better than the book. The trailer alone is already way better than it or the sweedish movie.
I haven't read the book but I do love the Swedish film. The swedish film already has the better looking chick so
Come 2012, this thread will be about Nolan's Batman trilogy. :patelFor a few weeks in july and when the trailer is released. Plenty of awesome shit next year other than just Batman.
Both Nolan Batman movies were fuck awesome
Compare them sans Dragon Tattoo getup. Rooney Mara wins in a landslide.

Rooney Mara:

Yep Noomi still wins.
I am pretty sure she wasn't.
A couple of months ago. The first hour or so is good. Not great, but good. But then after it's fucking terrible. The entire climax of the movie is a snoozefest and none of the characters are compelling.Begins is friggin boring. TDK is good shit though. I love Nolan movies but Begins and Following are fucking terrible, boring movies.
Oh come the fuck on mups, Following I liked but I can agree on. Begins though? Dude when was the last time you've seen it.
They don't ruin the quality of the movies to me, still love them but the rabid fans of them are so horrible to witness at places like gaf.
Though it isn't the greatest trilogy ever, I'd put Indiana Jones (yes Temple of Doom is weak but Raiders is just that good), the original Star Wars, & The Lord of the Rings ahead of them still.
