Well then. Saw the official sales numbers for the first 24 hours of Minecraft Xbox 360, and it's very, very good. Profitable in an hour.
Well it did have over 200,000 people on the leaderboard as of yesterday. At 20 bucks a pop for a port of an old version of the game....yeah, I could see them making some money pretty quick.
absolutely.
Could have major legs, a-la Castle Crashers.
The cunt that came up with Minecraft must be sitting on top of his pile of gold and laughing his friggn ass off
Recent trends have told me if a game isn't promoted several months before release, it will tank.
I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it broke the one-day record set by Trials just a few weeks ago. Wouldn't be a bit surprised if it broke the rest of the sales records, either.
It’s official: Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has has broken all previous Xbox LIVE Arcade digital sales records, selling more than any other title in the first 24 hours on Xbox LIVE Arcade. I just looked at the leaderboards and there are over 400,000 people playing…so that will give you an idea at how well it is doing.
Earlier today, creator Markus 'Notch' Persson revealed via his Twitter feed (https://twitter.com/#%21/notch) that the console version of his game was profitable within an hour of going on sale.lol'd
However, his Tweet then set off a little consternation at Fez developer Polytron, who suggested Notch might have been singled out for preferential treatment by Microsoft.
"How did you get those stats from MS?" asked Phil Fish's crew. "We still don't know exactly how much Fez sold almost a month later. You get stats in 24 hours?
Notch replied: "What? Really? I thought it was standard procedure! That sucks. :( "
The Fez studio then stated that "standard procure [sic] is: you find out how much you sold when you get your first check 3-4 months later."
"You're also getting free updates," they added, "which is something every other developer on the platform is told is simply not an option."
Notch responded by explaining that "we had to fight for that, and we got a limited number of them. Not sure why they don't like it."
Update Monday, May 14th: In less than one week on the market, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has sold more than 1,000,000 units globally .
But forums and Sony told me 360 users only like dude bro shooters while PS 3 gamers drink fine wine and play Journey...Minecraft has a weird set of fans. I really don't feel the general indie gamer is very far removed from the dude bro gamer at this point.
looks like xbox userbase likes this shit

never liked this artsy fartsy creation shit, never will
meh
:bow ELPRESADOR :bow2
pretty weird to see someone call an electronic lego set "artsy-fartsy"
Torches burn out in the current version? I thought they decided against implementing that change.
I kind of wish they'd patch in some sort of photomode. Not being able to easily share what you've done or have persistant worlds is killing it for me.
Never been interested in Minecraft on any platform. But it's nice seeing Fish get frustrated by Notch's success.
