I'd be down for a meetup, although I'm going to be out of the country for two weeks soon!

Stay away from the tourist trap Asakusa and go to Shibamata for your culture fix.  Also check out places like Kawagoe, Odawara, and Kamakura.

Team J-Bore has mobilized

only concrete plan is to go for Sausage Karaoke and sing Thin Lizzy's : "The Borys back in town" / "The Bore is back in town"

and , of course, to get cheap humjobs and catch the clap (before or after Ramen.... doesn't really matter either way)
Title: Re: Going to Japan for 3 weeks
Post by: Trent Dole on September 02, 2012, 07:30:23 PM
ooh, get the clap at a soapland! Bitches rubbing their soapy/lotiony naked bodies all over you is fucking hot. Aside from the whole getting the clap thing.

Let us crowd source an epic song :

to "The boys are back in town"

> = changed lines.

go for it people :

-------------------------------------------------------
>Guess who just got clap today?
>Those wild bromos that've been away
>Haven't changed, Haven't much to say
>But man i still think them Pollacks are lazy

They were askin' if you were around
How you was where you could be found
Told 'em you were livin' downtown
Driving all the old men crazy

>The borys back in town x8

>You know Borys' old PSP that he use a lot?
>Every night he'd be on the torz downloadin' what he had not
>Man I tell ya that was cool steeling what films were hot
>I mean.... he was streamin'

>And that time over at Bory's place
>Well this chick got up and she slapped Bory's face
>Man, borys just danced about the place
>If that chick don't wanna marry forget her

>The borys back in town

Spread the word around
Guess who's back in town
You spread the word around

Friday night they'll be dressed to kill
Down at Dino's Bar & Grill
The drink will flow and blood will spill
And if the boys wanna fight, you'd better let 'em

The Jukebox in the corner blasting out my favorite song
The nights are gettin' warmer it wont be long
Wont be long till summer till summer comes
Now that the boys are here again

The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town
The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town
The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town
(spread the word around)

The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town
(The boys are back, The boys are back)

The boys are back in town again
Been hangin' down at Dino's
The boys are back in town again

Hey Borys, if you and the waifu want to make a little offshoot somewhere else while you're there, I recommend taking advantage of this loco offer that ANA are rolling with right now

http://www.ana.co.jp/wws/us/e/wws_common/promotion/experience_jp/ (http://www.ana.co.jp/wws/us/e/wws_common/promotion/experience_jp/)

I'm hoping that they're going to extend this period for spring, at 10500 yenz I might just pop down to Kansai for a couple of days for the hell of it

If you're going to be there for three weeks, you might want to think about getting a rail pass and going to some other cities...three weeks in just Tokyo seems too long.

Finally got my plane tickets reserved. Going thru Frankfurt, Germany. Departure in Poland @ 10:00 AM, arrival in Tokyo @ 7:00 AM the next day. Gonna be a long trip.

Re: the AKASAKA hotel,

it got cancelled. It was too expensive (even with the discounts) in the end and we're gonna get the Client in Japan book us something else. Don't know what it will be :) I like surprises.

Cannot wait to touchdown on Japanese soil.

Only 5 days left!

Ah nice, Lufthansa flight? Going A380 over? When I booked my trip last week I was tempted to go with LH, just to get to go A380 there and A346 back. Hehe. But ended up going with Finnair, as always. More boring choice but cheaper and more practical.

Yes, Lufthansa.

Heard they are on strike this month. WTF is up with that? Luckily only intra-continental flights can be put on hold according to Lufthansa union. Inter-continental should be running as always.

For you Hyo:

Quote
There:
Flight/Equip.: Lot Polish Airlines 377    Embraer ERJ-170
Flight/Equip.: Lufthansa German 710

And back:
Flight/Equip.: Lufthansa German 7203    Boeing 777
Flight/Equip.: Lot Polish Airlines 354

OK, missing info on the plane to Tokyo there, but LH710 seems to be flown by A380 only: http://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/lh710 (http://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/lh710)

Nice! Will definitely have to try this flight sometime

There should be no more strikes at least until the middle of october, if at all.

Ok, got the hotel confirmed as well :)

http://www.floracion-aoyama.com/english/

From the description:

"There also have rooms prepared for the guests who work in Aoyama or Omotesando while they cannot go home due to the overtime work."

Whoa. :'(

Yeah, overtime in Japan sucks. That said:

People in Omotesando and not going home are just as likely to be needing it after a night of company-induced drinking, entertaining clients drinking, or meeting their girlfriend drinking.

Well, yes and no. The problem is cultural, I think. There's an assumption that, once you have a kid, you've got a different societal role to fill. We become "mother and father" instead of "husband and wife," which I've finally convinced my wife is utter bullshit.

well, yes, i've came to that conclusion too - i'm also burdened with a job that keeps me way too busy and a wife who works in a similar role at the same place.

2) Border Zone?

A mecha (gundam?) TPP online shooter. Standard arcade cabinet. They were like 10 of them linked via ethernet and you could play MP with other people sitting there. Looked like a modern version of SHOGO. Pretty nice game.

Border Break by Sega. I love this game so much. Too bad we'll probably never see a home release.

Aite I'm back in Japan so I'm down for any more meetups that you guys plan.  You should come to Ikebukuro so I can give you the grand tour of my stomping grounds!  Lots of good arcades!

Indeed I am!  I can make time on most days with a few exceptions, depending on my work and judo schedule.  Just give me enough advance notice and I'll be game!

You know I tested some weird food in Japan during the last 10 days (no one meal was the same) and ones tasted ok, others tasted not ok but Natto Beans is the most vile shit available in the food market. I could not eat the whole portion. For the first time in Japan (and I had a sea urchin before).

Gotta find some shark restaurant in the future.

I won't eat it, but you can eat whale in Japan.

If you also want something particularly blasé about its cruelty, there is iki-zukuri.

I always made a point to find whale in the grocery stores, but never tried it.

Get yourself some honest to God legit Kobe beef while you're there. You won't regret it.

Go to the Baird Taproom in Harajuku and drink some awesome craft beer. Pricey, but worth it.

I had whale once.  They served it for lunch at one of the schools I was working at and didn't tell me what kind of meat it was until I started eating it.   :lol :-\

Tasted like a tougher beef.

Yeah, I tried whale bacon once. I felt dirty afterward.

best place as any to post this mornings WTF - on my walk to work i see a lot of school kids (12-16 year olds)

today i was walking behind two girls - actually - i smelt saw them downwind through my binoculars from a distance of about 50m or so - and something was clearly wrong. Two girls, both around 15 i'd say. One wearing a long knee length skirt the other.... um.... well...

let me use the Vic Reeves patented measurement factor for skirts of "<measurement> inches below minge base"

this was NEGATIVE 2 below minge base - and the girl was wearing a thong

i ... i.... how does this work?!

I mean - her arse was literally just there and her skirt was above the baseline... how... what... why... whuuu

did my old scrote brain miss some news feed or something? is this the new fashion? How do school boys get any work done?

The massive irony is that i'm probably on a scale of 1 to 10 about a 58 on the "perv" scale but i sped up to get past because i seriously just didn't know what the feck to think (plus i have wing mirrors on my shoulders when i walk and wanted to get a front view (this is a lie))

Christ, I read Borys' quote without the quoted reference, and assumed it was about XFE's b'thonged schoolgirl. I was seriously confused.

All Japanese junior high girls wear typically wear their gym clothes underneath their uniforms.  Once during the daily cleaning time, I was standing outside and hear "HEY!"  I look up to a second floor window that's open, and see a girl who is purposefully letting the wind blow her skirt up.  She was wearing some pretty erotic underwear.  I thought about telling a teacher, but then realized that they would probably be wondering why I was looking at a girl's panties and forgot about it.

Yeah, I had one of those "Hey!" moments when I was visiting Kyoto. There were a lot of high school kids hanging out downtown at a fountain. There were several girls squatting yanki-style, and one of them met my eyes and pulled her skirt up to show off her panties. ??? Jesus, what a country.

Yeah, it's always been funny to me that westerners make fun of Japanese people for taking so many photos, and then when they visit Japan, OMG LET'S GET A PIC OF THAT! AND THAT! OH... AND THAT!

Fukuro Festival in west Ikebukuro is going on this weekend, if you want to see some traditional Japanese dancing it might be worth your while.

Probably would have been better to post this before today, whoops.

pretty shitty weather though. My whole family is laid out from 2 straight days of Disney Land/Sea so I'll likely just stay here. Might be up for something tomorrow though, since it's a national holiday.
