Michael Haneke got snubbed with The White Ribbon. Better come correct this time Mr. Oscar!
-
Lincoln, DDL, Riva, Spieldberg
-
Argo, DDL, J-law, Spielberg
-
Lincoln, DDL, Lawrence, Lee
Great thing about the oscars is you can tune in about 10:45 EST and see all the big awards in about 20 minutes.
-
how many Ted shout outs are to be expected? im going with four
-
Argo, DDL, Lawrence, Spielberg
EDIT: I see Triumph shares my excellent taste in future-telling
-
i predict i'll be on steam while the wife watches this in the other room
-
I hope lawrence wins but chastian probably has it on lock down
was she really all that good in ZD30?
-
I wish Chastain would win but many insiders are predicting a victory for Riva and the oldies
-
Argo, DDL, Chastain, Spielberg
-
For the acting awards, you can generally predict them off of who won the corresponding SAG award, since the bulk of the Oscar voting populace for the acting awards are SAG members, who just got done voting on and handing out their awards. It's not 100% fullproof but it's pretty consistent.
J-law might get derailed because some lame people are sick of her and thought she was bitchy on SNL or whatever.
-
Argo, DDL, Riva, Lee
-
I've only seen Django of any of the major contenders. I'd cast my vote as a write-in for DREDD.

Same here.

*daps*

Dredd sweeped the indie spirit awards last night
-
Dredd sweeped the indie spirit awards last night*
*not really
-
If by "sweeped", you mean sweeped under the rug unacknowledged, then yes, it sweeped.
-
This the first time since the mid 90's where I haven't seen all of the best picture nominations. Only saw Argo, Beasts of the Southern Wild and Django.
That's what having a kid does for ya. You get picky about what you do on date nights and then wait for everything else to hit the home video market.
-
Dredd sweeped the indie spirit awards last night*
*not really
it could've. no one watches it. it's schrodinger's award show.

I always forget about it even though they tend to nominate more films I see than the Oscars.*
*Except this year.
-
I actually think Seth is doing really well
-
I gues you aren't Ben Affleck or Mel Gibson lol
-
christ gaf can't take a joke at all
they don't realize that seth's shtick is entirely meta
-
Is Dredd the internet darling this year? It's far more deserving than Drive last year.
-
What's the problem
-
harry potter wut
-
I think it's awesome so far. Very different from anything they've ever done.
I'm also watching the WOWOW broadcast from Japan, their announcers and dubbing people are confused out of their fucking minds!
-
I can't imagine why gaffots watch the oscars when they, every single year, bitch an moan no matter who hosts
-
I can't imagine why gaffots watch the oscars when they, every single year, bitch an moan no matter who hosts
Think about what you just said. They complain about EVERYTHING. It's the Internet way.
-

-
well hugh jackman set such a high bar all those years ago

-
Deakins losing and Brave winning is some shit
-
dear god please let this be the end of seth mcfarlanes career
-
Great hair and makeup on these two cougars
-
Eh. The dude doesn't even have really anything to do with any of his shows anymore. Creative credits only, does VO for like a day, then focuses on his film and singing career now.
-
I'm not watching, but all of my friends who work in the industry are all bitching about it on various social media platforms "wah wah wah please take our industry SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERIOUSLY!"
-
Poor Shirls.
-
Eh. The dude doesn't even have really anything to do with any of his shows anymore. Creative credits only, does VO for like a day, then focuses on his film and singing career now.
(http://www.the-coli.com/images/smilies/comeon.png) all these terrible, offensive jokes? a cornball sexist song? wiliiam fucking shatner? this is cutting room crap from family guy scripts
-
I've liked it a lot so far. It's meta, sure, but it's not that offensive and it's actually pretty humorous. Unlike Crystal's painfully innocuous hosting last year.
-
i predict i'll be on steam while the wife watches this in the other room

An AIDS doc didn't win the award?! Something must be wrong in Hollywood.
Edit: Prometheus ether ... Line of the night so far
-
Searching for Sugerman was amazing, well deserved.
-

-
"And the cast of Prometheus will come up and....explain just what the hell THAT was all about."
-
Chastain looks good and tiny next to Garner

WHO COULD HAVE SEEN ANNE HATHAWAY WINNING
Seriously though, poor Amy Adams. Everytime she's nominated, she's going up against someone who is the "it" nominee of the year or Meryl Streep.
-
she'll win soon
-
Was Hathaway really that good in Les Mis? So far in their careers, I'd say that Adams has been the better actress.
-
Her performance and that particular scene in the film single-handedly probably got the film so much love and press in the first place.
-
WHO WILL WIN WHO WILL LOSE
I didn't know you guys were such women.
-

Still kinda bummed she lost for Junebug. She was the film.
-
WHO WILL WIN WHO WILL LOSE
I didn't know you guys were such women.
Just give it to whoever had nudity in her performance and show the younger generation what it takes to win.
Everybody wins.
-
so this show has better music performances than all the other award shows this year
-
or, according to some around the internet, the most awful thing to ever happen since aids
-
be honest brandnew, do you think gaf is the most awful thing to ever happen since aids
-
I think my cancerous fascination with them is
I can't quit them. I should get help, seriously.
-
very unpleased at them honoring katzenberg. dude has ruined so many careers at both disney and dreamworks
-
Was Hathaway really that good in Les Mis? So far in their careers, I'd say that Adams has been the better actress.
She was very compelling; but really, her part has had 30 years of collective audience tears driving a tidal wave of support for the movie. And then there's the original book...
-
I hate barbra streisand
-
yes! Jennifer Lawrence!
-
Joaquin :lol
-
time to kill yourself brandnew
-
I ain't even mad
-
My twitter feed is full of people bitching about Obama. Explain, dirt people

I skipped the whole thing but watched Adele's performance on youtube. I'm glad that she's still got it and that she expanded like any normal new mother.
-
Lincoln, DDL, Lawrence, Lee
Boom, 3/4
Bullshit that Argo won.
-
I haven't watched Argo but I've been skeptical of its quality because Colin Cowherd can't shut up about how great it is
-
It's okay.

No a my łykamy to jak te głupie pelikany
-
Je bent zelf een domme pelikaan.
-

Lager, America's extremely disproportionate film-making success doesn't just come down to marketing. The America film industry is unrivaled when it comes to capital, history, infrastructure, personnel, and technical expertise.
-
Well Dutch means Deutsch in English. It's all germanic languages.
Danish, Swedish and Norwegian are really similar too in writing but not spoken. Even English has many similarities.

:bow :bow2
That was just a repost I partially agree but it has a cynical bit of truth to it.
The problem with European cinema is language, if we had one like the US we could have bigger budgets and audiences and everything that derives from that, but alas, the thing that makes us so unique is also our weak point.
-
If it ain't Dutch it ain't much :P
FP left prob over some dram prob. Dunno.
-
3 Pollacks in one thread :bow2
I miss FreshPrince :'( where did he go?
He was unintentionally murdered in the digital realm.
-
submarine with a screen door?

Ang Lee is a fucking asshole:
“I would like it to be cheaper and not a tough business [for VFX vendors]. It’s easy for me to say, but it’s very tough. It’s very hard for them to make money. The research and development is so expensive; that is a big burden for every house. They all have good times and hard times, and in the tough times, some may not [survive].”
[/quout]

wow, seth really pissed some people off, hunh?
maybe the film industry should realize that the reason nobody wants to watch their award show is because they've gone so far up their asses they've forgotten they're just making entertainment. you can have a stiff-lipped circle-jerk OR you can have good ratings, but you can't have both, so pick one and stop whinging already.
AP compared him to Bob Hope:
