are the retina mini and air the same power/spec-wise? is the option only down to tablet/size now?
There are really only two legit reasons to own mac products over android/windows stuff these days:abercrombie & fitch = status :heh
1) you do video editing and need access to final cut pro (which is less of a necessity nowadays than in the past, actually)
2) you're in the market for a handheld device and having access to gaming shit at launch is really important to you
That's it. The rest of it is just paying more for status, like people who only shop at Abercrombie & Fitch. Yes, the stuff looks prettier, but not $170 prettier. gtfo.
yeah but this is 2013If you were thirteen in 2003 like me it was :yeshrug

Yeah, why would a consumer want to save $170, won't somebody think of the APIs!
Android has better API's though.
Where's iOS intents? :heh
Hard-coding aspect ratios? Is this the 90's? :heh]Android has better API's though.

hah, really? must be why all the gheys love it so
ipad air :lol
also fuck a $400 mini, the whole point of it was smaller/affordable
at least the mini I have will remain somewhat relevant until they squeeze the last few pennies out of that iPad 2 processor
but choosing a regular resolution or high-res Retina is just one step closer to the Performa mistakes Apple-of-old made.you know what's great about buying a computer? choosing between random strings of numbers with letters attached at the end.

SO BAD
(Apple says that AirPlay requires a second-generation Apple TV or later and a 2011-era Mac or later. (http://www.macworld.com/article/2042936/hands-on-with-os-x-mavericks-multiple-display-support.html))
Would be a nice feature if, for example, Apple Maps didn't have the location of the I-40 crosstown in Oklahoma City misplaced by about four blocks.
I was hoping the non-retina 15" ones would have a cut...but they axed them.
I kinda want one to fuck around, but pricing is (as usual) totally outrageous. Two grand for 8GB mem, 256 GB (albeit fast) storage, and integrated graphics?
:kobeyuck
I've been looking around and actually played with them the other night. Going to get one probably next weekend, but debating on/still looking at options...
Right now it's between the mid-tier 13" (really like portability and form factor) or a refurb top of the line 15" retina from earlier this year (slightly beefier proc although not haswell, 650M)...price not too much more and would give more options. I am not sure I like the bigger footprint though.
I think I may lose out on the iwork etc for free, but I can get a 10$ copy of office through work anyway so no biggie. I have no delusions about its gaming capability, but I also have a shitton of steamplay games in my library, and would be cool to at least run more than basic stuff.
Just not sure. not terribly worried about the fact that it's a refurb because it's under warranty and have a year to throw applecare on it lol.
Played with an iPad Air today. Most Apple ballwashing reviews are full of hyperbole and bullshit, but they're not far off the mark with this one. It's crazy how light it feels, the difference over the Mini is pretty negligible. They didn't knock off as much of the side bezel as I thought, so you can hold it without your thumbs looking like a big toe pressed all over the screen. Was THIS close to selling my Mini and paying the difference. My hypocrisy knows no bounds. Then I went on Daring Fireball, and reading a page of that smarmy cockslobbering helped the sensation pass.

Oh man. I need to play with it. Maybe IT IS time to upgrade my iPad 3.
OS X Mavericks is free and amazing. Finally, real multi-display support.
Upgrade to my dick, fuckrag.
