Or if you're engrossed in a well-supported ecosystem with thousands of developers constantly working and updating their apps, libraries, APIs, etc, and can't make the switch just for supporting the better overal company (Google).

Someone obviously hasn't worked with a shitload of third party developers.  It has been an absolute fucking chore trying to get shit like soundcloud, rdio, slacker, pandora, wham city, etc working in android apps via their SDKs.

Mostly true but Apple still has quite a few good games that aren't getting ported to Android anytime soon

I agree that this is weird and potentially bad. Seriously, most people can't stand making this many choices. Colored cases are one thing, and memory amount is probably a good choice, but choosing a regular resolution or high-res Retina is just one step closer to the Performa mistakes Apple-of-old made.
