nero playthrough = yes
dante = just one annoying filler
hope vergil won't be the same. I love his style but he was basically a skin in dmc3 special edition.
Why is that everyone's take away from this? Why can't there just be two series?I can see ninja theory handling the series forward with Capcom japan supervision. hopefully starting with the art.
Well...it's more like it was "here is SFIV Omega Dante who can do everything all at once but nothing really new, just overpowered and everything vs. everything you've already fought already". So while it was cool for a bit, there was nothing really new about it besides more combo chaining ability. He seemed a bit of an after-thought, like "our game is too short, let's just port in DMC3 Dante but unlock all his abilities at once and have him go through the game again but backwards!".
There's also not much reason to do the really high level stuff in character action games besides for showing off, combo videos, or a personal satisfaction of doing it. Whether it's DMC or Bayonetta or NG, you can pretty much get by on all difficulties with the highest ranking by just doing simple BnB combos and dodging/parrying all attacks.
DmC: The Fans Were Right Edition. Still not buying it.
A toggle for color-coded enemies is in, its in the press release. They refer it to as a popular PC mod and not something they added themselves though. :heh
color coded enemies is just the most barefaced (and comically obvious) flaw in DmC's sub-par combat system. I think the game turned out better than I had anticipated, but it's so far from being a Good Action Game that I don't think they should even bother trying to fix it. Try to do better with a fresh slate instead, whether they are given another crack at the DMC license or whatever else they end up making if not.
and lol at complaining about shitty characters and story. that's a hallmark of the series.
Honestly, if DmC's combat was in Enslaved, it probably wouldn't get as much backlash as it did.

TBH, I can't care about the "easy mode style system" since I never played Devil May Cry for the SSS-ranks. I always played it to juggle enemies into the air and use whatever weapons I could to create "combos" as I saw fit. DmC's color-system impeded that more than the "dodge+axe=SUDDENLY SMOKIN' SICK STYLE!!!!"and lol at complaining about shitty characters and story. that's a hallmark of the series.
Uncle Dante was at least charming in said shitty story. Along with Nero, Vergil, Lady, and even Trish.
DINO and his cast? Too "try-hard edgy" for my taste.
Like the last scene of the reboot is literally DMC3's downfall story but quickly done as a heel-turn for Vergil because "OH BUT THE HUMANS NEARLY KILLED YOUR LOVE INTEREST DINO! WE MUST RULE OVER THEM DESPITE THE FACT I SAID WE SHOULDN'T EARLIER! *mustache comb*" It's just... wat.
you care you lose

I seem to remember the DLC campaign for Enslaved, that was more stealth focused, being received very positively for having less (none?) combat.spoiler (click to show/hide)I don't hold out much hope that they are capable of turning out a strong combat focused game tbh. stop trying imo. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯[close]
And yeah, DMC3 and 4 had the dumb fun characters and story down to b-grade action movie entertainment. DmC's libertarian themes and 12 year old kid's idea of swearing is cool can be thrown straight to the bushes :yuck
DMC3 has a good story for an action game, I think. It's a mostly straight forward, shonen, coming-of-age-anime kinda story. The handful of characters fill their roles and get the prerequisite development, the cut scenes move quickly and are mainly placed at the start and end of each mission, etc. Not ambitious stuff, but well executed 101 stuff.
Bayonetta is like the opposite.
they fucked it up a little already. there are some glitches here and there. something with a Kalina Ann move not doing damage in 3

Yeah, but that's something (and the FMV) that can be fixed by a patch on PC, yeah? Or is there no plan to even patch that on consoles?
