None. I was watching the game and my friend was like "how come he's not going crazy out there?" Initially I said he was calm in response to expectations that he'd be going crazy; bucking conventions and not giving people what they want is definitely his style. But the more I watched the more I realized this team is BAD...and he recognizes it. He realizes he's going to bomb and that Hoke recruited a bunch of over hyped trash players.

Next year when he had his first full recruiting class? He'll be going crazy.

YIKES at my Ducks' secondary today. Vernon looked stellar despite some not-Mariota-like mistakes. The late hit by EWU on their former teammate should have resulted in that kid being booted off the team, IMO.

First game jitters. I think Oregon is gonna be fine this year.

I don't know about getting kicked off the team but that kid definitely needs a few games off. It was clearly blatant.

My kid got his first game in. Didn't play but he had a blast.

Probably but that ATH player doesn't get early round checks bro. He's at best a 6th rounder currently. Don't get all giddy while he mashes up inferior competition. Let's see how he does when he hits a Minnesota or Michigan State first.

Strong is gonna fuck around and get fired early. Those boosters didn't like him from day one and clearly have no interest in giving him time to rebuild a team that was in SHAMBLES when he took over. That being said...Swoops gotta go. The problem is that the only other guy is a freshman. Team probably should have been looking for a transfer QB...

Texas is hot buttered garbage now. So weird.

I mean it wasn't even that long ago they had about a 30 year run finishing in the top 10 in the country pretty much every year. This is what happens when Saban, Harbaugh, Meyer, Fisher, and others come in and start taking your texas talent out of state.

Unbelievable.

Nah he'll get a chance to fire Watson and get a new OC. I think these boosters understand just how shittastic the Oline and QB depth that Mack left behind was.

Maybe if Strong was a white coach from a Power 5 conference. I really don't think he'll get a fair shake given some of the comments that have come out since he was hired.

Sort of reminds me of Rich Rod at Michigan. From day one he was destined to fail, they wouldn't let him put his desired staff together.

Dunno about that man. I agree with the announcers: you shouldn't be punished for losing a close game to a ranked opponent on the road. That being said I think Oregon was ranked way too high coming into the year. Oregon can still win its conference, or come close.

Your QB is going to need time to develop but he made some big time throws tonight. Obviously made mistakes as well, but he can develop into something good.

So everything is going back to how things were before.

That was an ugly game, watched a bit of it at a bottle shop while waiting to pick up pizza next door. Oregon has no defense this year.

I was thinking today, you know what would be cool? Every power 5 conference gets coupled with a junior conference. Every year, 2 teams get relegated to the junior conference and 2 teams gets promoted to senior conference.

BIG 10 and MAC
PAC-10 and MWC (WAC)
SEC and Sun Belt (iffy?)
ACC and C-USA
Big 12 and AAC

Obviously for money reasons this would never happen, but it would make college conference football a lot more exciting because you would remove perennial losers off your schedule. At least keep perennial losers honest, because they have to fight to remain in the league.

Michigan's win was quite impressive. I don't think Rudock is a good QB but he's managing games well. That run game is impressive and will only get better due to the o-line improving.

Harbaugh doing that work. Hope our back is healthy for the game after Maryland ' s punk ass loses by 20.

They have to recognize just how shitty Mack Brown left the program. Strong is a good recruiter and had a good class this year but it's gonna take time. He needs four years. Even Rich Rod got three, but should have gotten four. But if things don't look like they're improving next year...

He seems to have his QB, and the defense has potential. ST is atrocious.

It's going to be interesting to see how things shake out with Oregon basically having no defense outside of DeForest Buckner and Joe Walker. Ground and pound running game will get us past some of the easier teams in the Pac-12, but not against Stanford or USC. Hopefully Taylor Alie can keep making solid passes like what he threw in the 4th quarter so we can shake things up, but at this point our best shot at the conference title is outscoring our opponents hard.

If Texas hires a new AD, he might want to bring in 'his' guy. I didn't think there was a way Strong was going to get fired this year either, but I didn't expect his record to be this poor. If he doesn't make a bowl, it'd be really easy for the new AD to bring someone new. The reality is that Texas is such a premium program that a lot of great coaches wouldn't be deterred by Strong only getting two years (same story goes with USC, and Sark is doing better there than Strong is at Texas).

Never knew USC alums were such uptight puritans.

That's not why it was a national head line. It was a national headline because he was clearly drunk as shit and he already had a history of rumors pertaining to his alcoholism.

That being said, USC alums are a weird mixture of pre Steven Sample and Post Steven Sample Trojans.

Pre Sample are all rich, old, white, conservative and largely from Orange County the bastion of left coast conservatism.

Post Sample is more ethnically diverse, intellectual and doing their best to shed the University of Spoiled Children moniker that sadly haunts us.

my prediction

MSU 23
UM 13

I'm amazed that so little of the conversation I'm hearing here (sports radio, work, my dad, etc) is talking about the QB situation. MSU has the superior, tested vet QB. NFL talent QB in fact, regardless of whether he'll be a good QB or not (more than likely not). Ruddock is still turnover prone, I still don't trust him. Yea MSU's secondary is probably the weakest it's been in years but that d-line is going to confuse and pressure Ruddock.

Dare I say...Michigan is being overhyped fellas. You got people out here claiming they can beat OSU. In fact ESPN's prediction model has them winning the Big Ten lol. Nah, all that fantasy shit ends on Saturday.

I hate look at the stats people.

MSU was outcoached continually and our defensive line plugged gaps all day.

But because you wanna go stats  18-39 out of your stud QB and less than 80 yards rushing. Yeah I can see where that complete domination set in....
Title: Re: 2015 College Football thread of Harbaugh Face
Post by: Phoenix Dark on October 26, 2015, 02:26:51 PM
Breh you can't be serious. MSU had nearly 400 yards of offense, Michigan had less than 300. MSU had twice as many first downs. Neither team could run on each other. If not for godly ST Michigan might not have scored a TD breh, let's be real.

MSU was so outcoached that...they won the game on a coaching decision. Harbaugh fucked up that punting choice. Punting is not the issue. Watching a 10 on 8 like that tho? L.

Ehh, we averaged less than 3 yards per carry (admittedly Utah has the best front 7 in the conference but still). We also looked pretty shitty in the red zone most of the day.

We won that game because a true freshman line backer had a super human day in pass coverage and Utah isn't really good at coming from behind.

That;s like the opposite of a Muschamp team. Hold them under 100 yards of offense, still lose.

MSU got what they deserve. Looked suspect all season, especially the secondary. I thought they'd be amazing this year but the defense is significantly worse than anyone could have expected. Granted they have a lot of injuries but the bye week was supposed to be their saving grace to get healthy. Well they got players back and still looked bad against a bad Nebraska team.

He didn't even watch the kick, had his back to the play and then just walked off. :lol

Attrition made MSU actually play some of the guys they should have been giving time and touches to earlier in the year like Scott, who was pretty decent when he had to play earlier. O'Connor even seemed like a better on the fly decision maker than Cook though it was just one game.

Dat play on like 3rd and 2 where the entire team basically just shoved OSU's line back and him across the first down line. :whoo

On the replay you could see one of the backs squeezing inbetween MSU linemen to get behind O'Connor and push him forward farther. :whew

Haven't watched MSU games regularly in years before this season, but Dantonio can get pretty nuts in a good way, like going for it on 4th and 20 or putting two QBs on the field and running it. An OSU looked completely confused at what the hell MSU was doing sometimes. Then the crazy shit works out in a lot of these games. Shame they had to blow that Nebraska game and won't be able to get crazy in the tournament against some actually good teams.

OSU will stomp Michigan. They have to turn in a convincing ass win and pray things work in their favor.

Elliot is pissed and rightfully so...but MSU was stuffing OSU's run game all day and I don't think that would have changed if he got more carries. IF anything I'd say Jones would have been a better QB to play in this game. OSU continually failed at 3rd and shorts all night...perhaps Jones could have made those easier.

Honestly I think OSU and MSU can beat Iowa, so right now it looks like MSU can get to the playoff. That being said I could see the committee opting to give ND the nod, rewarding them based more on fanbase/legacy/money than merit. The Big Ten champ should get a spot this year, period.

Michigan could win an ugly grind game like last night but I'm assuming the weather will be decent, both teams will be able to throw, and OSU's OC will make sure Zeke gets a shit ton of carries.

I will say that Ruddock has improved quite a bit, to the point that I could see him getting drafted. He looks poised, has cut down on the turnovers, and just looks solid. Imagine being a highschool QB prospect and seeing what Harbaugh has done with him. Dude is gonna be molding some solid QB for years.

I like that Oklahoma QB, he's fun to watch. But the team is pretty mediocre outside of him.

In Tuesday night MACtion(!), Northern Illinois choked tonight, putting Toledo back in the drivers seat to win their half of the conference. A legitimate bowl is probably out of the question though (if they win out).

I know there are shady politics involved but I really like the playoff system so far. The best thing is that it's forcing teams to put more emphasis on scheduling, which means more good/great games during the season. And it punishes teams like ND who get by dodging challenges (ie cancelling their Michigan and MSU rivalries).

The downside to having successful season(s) in the MAC is that you quickly lose your coach.  I doubt the coach (who is 35 years old) will be around much longer.

Pretty ugly blowout. Michigan simply doesn't have the d-line required to stop OSU. I'm sure that'll change when Harbaugh gets his recruits in there but even then OSU will likely have the talent edge. Can't wait until OSU gets popped for violating NCAA rules again...

Obviously one spot will be determined by the Big Ten winner. But the thing that baffles me is talk that NC can get in if they beat Clemson. Just don't see the argument for them jumping 10 to (probably 4) given their weak schedule.

Assuming everyone wins out (plus Iowa or MSU) it's gonna be

Yea I heard about that last night. BTW Nebraska is a lot better than their record suggests. Real tough team, beat MSU and almost beat Michigan.

BTW I gotta say I'm pretty happily surprised by the commission. I thought they'd go for money over worth and put OSU in the Rose Bowl. Instead they did the right thing and sent Iowa. There was no reason outside of money/tickets for OSU to finish ahead of Iowa and thus go to the Rose Bowl; rewarding teams for not making it to their conference finals would be ludicrous. Grats to Iowa. They played really well last night.

So far the playoff commission has impressed. Really looking forward to seeing how teams continue to adapt to this new situation, especially in regards to scheduling. Quality wins are key, which means you gotta play somebody good. If Notre Dame wants to make it to the playoffs they need to join a conference.

Michigan looked good against Florida.

So did the past 6 teams that played florida

Completely different team from the midseason. But hopeful for next year. Sounds like he really turned our recruiting

That will probably be the only decent game this season.

Now that my wife's cousin is no longer a coach at Oregon, I can go back to enjoying Oregon losing.

Holy shit.

This year's coach-cast wasn't as good as last year. Didn't like the mix of coaches they had (Muschamp was probably the strongest) and who ever was running the video was driving me crazy by rewinding it even before the play was over, or repeatedly showing something pointless when another play was going off.

That was a great game. High scoring yet there were multiple great defensive plays as well.

Shout outs to Watson and Clemson, man. They have nothing to be ashamed of, they played their hearts out. And that white WR was balling out. He'll be catching TDs from Brady in a couple years.

Nobody dares speak about the Devil Saban for fear of a 55-3 ass whooping in the future.

One of the announcers said that  4 or 5 of bama's front 7 are 1st rounders in the draft this year.  :whoo

5 for sure. And a RB, WR, and DB.

I count 8 fucking first rounders. That school recruits for itself.

17 year old me would have signed that shit and personally delivered it to Bama on my own dime.

Any comment on your boy Jimmy Harbaugh running a mini Alabama recruiting scam and lying to recruits? It has become a national story over the last month.

Don't like the practice but it isn't against the rules. Michigan got a lot better last year, so quality expectations are up.

Fit or get bro. It isn't any worse than Saban's greyshits dude.
