Pull ups and push ups mostly

Was enjoying just dance for cardio but moved the tv to a place with less room for such things

I've just been running.  Working myself back into shape for a 25k in October that likely won't happen.

I probably gained 15 pounds from the beginning of the lockdown in March through memorial day.  Then I realized my anxiety over Covid isn't going to help my chances of survival of I catch it, so I got back on Keto and back into running.

I was doing a lot of dumbbell exercises and pushups too, but put a pause on that after I injured myself (costochondritis) pretty badly picking my son up off my shoulders about a month ago.

So running is pretty much my only exercise atm.

Just lots of walking and biking... normally I'm big on just staying in my house all day but since WFH I've been needing to get out a bit more.

Lots and lots of walking for me.  Going to get back to doing some yoga too- I have some older DDP/YRG Yoga DVDs I used to use that helped me to lose some weight too.  Would recommend it if you want something easy to get into.

Been running like crazy this summer.. I’ve been focusing on pacing and distance over speed (pushing for speed is torturous for me). I’m up to 7 miles which usually takes me right around 1 hour and I am seriously hurting by the end. The route I usually run is all hills so I’d be really interested in seeing how far I could go on a track. Other than that just a few pushups and resistance band exercises throughout the week.

I've been walking for about a hour everyday. I've been trying to switch to running in short spurts.

I went for my first run in three or four days this morning. Got out before 7 AM, the weather was a little warm but not overwhelmingly hot or humid yet. It’s 10:30 AM, and that has all changed now. I’m glad I got out when I did. I think from tomorrow I can run a little harder than before.I expected more drastic fall off after the break I had taken. I’m happy it didn’t just vaporize.

Push-ups are fantastic, especially if you do them right and incorporate some progression.

I'm a lanky dude (everyone from my old man's side is), and I've always been very off again on again about pushups. But pretty much since the start of COVID I've been making sure to do reps every day and I can really tell the difference on my chest. The outline on the outside of the chest where your your arm rests clearly has some added definition. It's subtle, but also a world of a difference if I had taken a before and after picture.

Good work. Consider decline pushups, so feet elevated, to add difficulty. An angle that isn't too steep emphasizes the clavicular/upper muscle body of the pectoralis.

My locomotion has been hampered since I fucked up my foot last year. I was doing ok for a few months till I started having issues with my feet. Having no access to PT has really screwed up my recovery. So I started doing free weights and squats and now my knee is acting up. So I'm working on figuring out what works for me and listening to my body. Pushing where I can and retreating when necessary so I don't stress out any particular body part.

Shoes are a fucking nightmare for me. I have to get extra wide/half size and finding a good pair during these times are a crap shoot. I've bought 4 pairs in the last few months and only one of them was suitable for me.

The missus has her spinning bike (just upgraded it to 75 pound wheel) and a elyptical/stepper (I tried using this for low impact... yeah nah.) She's up at the ass crack of the morning 3am and we both get done around 5am. Which is nice since we clean up have time to have coffee in the morning before we have to start the rest of our day.

I just pulled a muscle hard in my midback on one side of the spine. Was not good, been feeling achy in that area after work out sometimes here and there, but stretching in general when it was achey cleared it up. I do beat saber for my cardio so a lot of flailing arms up and down and left/right very quickly.

Was on the last song for my workout and did a swing up and just felt sharp pain and literally collapsed on the floor. Took some pain meds, iced a few times, but basically left side of my body is locked into place. I had to cook dinner and clean a bit, and holy hell that was difficult while trying not to rotate/reach/bend.

If I don't move like sitting now and typing it's fine outside a dull ache pain, but a lot of movements just freak it out and instant 10/10 pain and cramping and freezing up. Breathing's a pain too because ribcage.

As much as this sucks, and hopefully will feel a lot better in the morning, I'm more concerned about long term issues and making it so I can't safely play beat saber for indoor cardio warm up. Would need to get a stairmaster or something (no room for a treadmill) since I need something indoor to work up a sweat for 20-30 mins daily. Don't want to fall out of shape.

I need to not play for a week or so and let it really heal up and then learn a few more back stretches to do as warm up before the warm up. It uses a weird muscle that you don't normally use, so the standard stretches don't seem to really hit that area of the off-center back.

Ok, didn't sleep much and was super stiff in the morning, but after moving around, definitely have more range and doing better this morning hopefully this tear/strain will heal up in a couple days to at least being a minor thing.

Still, I probably should find a new way to do cardio and probably avoid push-ups/dumbbell lifting for at least a few weeks to let my back fully heal. Thinking about it, there were a lot of telltale signs leading up on this muscle where it'd feel weird so I probably pulled/strained/tore it to a lesser degree weeks ago and then never let it fully heal because I wasn't really aware of it. Cardio + squats/legs only for a few weeks I guess. No Beat Saber for me.

Any recommendations for indoor cardio stuff that is not a treadmill that can work up a sweat in 20-30 mins? Before Beat Saber I used to use a stair stepper that I could Netflix or something while doing but I went through two of those over the years as the hydrolics always ended up leaking oil on the carpet. Could grab another and go back to that, but wondering if there's something else I could use. Would need to be something that is just lower body based for my current situation.

Been a home gymer for years so covid didn't really change anything for me.

But 2 weeks ago I suffered a pretty bad concussion and my wife wouldn't let me workout :(

But I got back at it today, feels good.

What's your setup?
