Second, Infernal Affairs is Chinese, not Japanese, lolz. Third, the Morricone tribute was so unexpected and fuckawesome. The only thing missing was a Leone tribute. Finally, it was great to see Marty get his 30 year overdue Oscar. I dont think this was the film he deserved it for (see my GAF thread), and it definately wasnt his best directorial effort, but still, no one was more in need of an Oscar than Marty. Loved the ovation. Best Picture was a bit shocking to me.

Also, I love how only going to the theatres 15 times or so last year is a sign of being a bad film lover according to Oogami.

Solo I always wondered, you being a huge fan of the dollars trilogy how do you rank/rate the eastwood westerns that eastwood himself directed after the "trilogy" films? Like Unforgiven, High Plains Drifter, etc...

None of them should ever be mentioned in comparison to Leone's, lets leave it at that. Eastwood, while a competent filmmaker, is leagues behind Leone.
No need to compare, I am just curious what you think of them.

And Unforgiven is on the same scale(barely) as Leone. It's the only one however.

What Unforgiven lacks in Leone's deliberately rough edges and heavy atmosphere, it makes up for with tighter pacing and vastly better dialogue. I agree that Leone is a better director when it comes to overall cinematography; however, Eastwood's a little less egotistical when it comes to the cutting room and that gives Unforgiven a serious boost.

I guarantee you that The Departed never sees a sequel. At least one by Scorsese. He'll do either Silence or Teddy nexy. Since its more studio-friendly, and Marty seems to want to keep on working with Leo, my bets are on Teddy in 2008.

What the hell was with that horrible sidestory involving Robert Downey Jr. and his hagbag hiding their marriage, when nobody cared - all the while taking away valuable screen time from David Strathairn's portrayal of Edward R. Murrow. The focal point should've been Murrow, but you never see him outside of work, nor do you see how the whole McCarthy showdown impacted his life.

It was like a highly stylized social studies film for kids, but with enough smoking cigarettes to give the Marlboro Man a woody.
