Bruce Willis got me hyped. Every time I read anything about it, he was pimping the fuck out of the movie, comparing it to the original. Now I know that actors are full of shit, but still, Bruce Wills says something is badass, I sort of have to listen.

Your first idea sounds logical. This summer is going to be a clusterfuck of blockbuster movies so it's not hard to see why a studio would want a PG-13 movie; they'll reach a larger audience. But despite...I'm not going anymore

and this is so not gonna happen. It would be the most blatently stupid, self-defeating, shoot-yourself-in-the-foot thing a movie studio has done since possibly ever. Fox made a shitload of cash on Borat, has 28 Weeks Later lined up, and just put out Pathfinder and Reno:911. They've shown themselves to be not so hesitent about releasing R rated movies in the past, why start now on the highest profile shootin-and-cussin film series out there?

Fox fucked up X-Men.. all of those movies sucked.
They have a good chance of fucking up Fantastic Four, even thought the first film was surprisingly watchable and the second film has some pretty good trailers going for it.
Fox fucked over TWO franchises with one movie (Alien vs. Predator). They made it PG-13 and made it possibly the worst fucking thing of all time. It shat on the name of some of the greatest sci-fi films of the 80s.
And now, they are going to royally fuck up Die Hard by making the film PG-13. Hell, even the Mac guy and Kevin Smith didn't even bother me. I fucking love Kevin Smith, I think he's hilarious, and him being used in a Die Hard movie (sparingly) could turn out to be a good thing. But making it PG-13 would be like chopping the film's balls off. We might as well have Willis run around in a fucking dress singing Let Me Call You Sweetheart for two hours. Sure, it might not be that bad, but any film with the name Die Hard on it that isn't R might as well have this in it, because it's going to fucking suck anyways.
Hell, even outside of the movie industry they are fucking things up. Fox News is the worst news channel ever known to man and possibly the most hypocritical thing on television today. Hearing the fair and balanced motto makes me want to run to the bathroom and throw up shit every time I hear it on the news/radio.
What's next? Is Fox going to randomly decide to cancel 24 and House and replace them with full hour versions of Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader and even more episodes of American Idol?

I said this earlier. From a studio's perspective yeah it makes perfect sense. I wonder if they would have made a different decision if the movie came out last year when the only competition was POTC2.

Die Hard pretty much defined the action movie for roughly the decade after its appearance. it's a great, fun, flick.

Die Hard is one of the absolute best action movies I've ever seen. It's perfectly executed and paced. I'd put it right up there with Predator in the sense of it being a classic action movie.
The second reminds me of Temple of Doom in some ways. IMO Die Hard is the perfect action movie; there's a level of the badass-ery you need in an action movie, and there's also a great underlining of humor which keeps you entertained; this is mixed together with great characters. In short, it's the blueprint for a great action movie. Die Harder on the other hand seems like the blueprint for the over the top, dumbass action movie. I've said many times that Temple of Doom is basically the blueprint for modern over the top adventure movies (IE 2 hour chase n ride scenes).
With a Vengence is not nearly as good as the first movie, but it's a return to form nonetheless. It really goes a good job with the "buddy" action movie plot, which basically boils down to two guys who don't like each other getting into trouble, only to become great...buddies in the end. The action is tight, and even the over the top nature of some of the stunts are forgiven simply due to the chemistry between Willis and Jackson.
The trailers for 4.0 show as a few things. First off, it's clear there are going to be more over the top action sequences, more crazy stunts, and more insane "how did he do that?" moments. How else are they going to get the general public's attention away from POTC and Spider-Man? Second off, I think we can definitely say that the buddy aspect of this movie is going to be ugly. The Mac Guy is perhaps the most annoying asshat to grave the digital realm in ages. I hate him. The prospect of having to listen to him whine for two hours is NOT appealing to me. Why not have KEVIN SMITH in the buddy role and just let him improv all his lines lol? I would co-sign that decision

that was more because I always thought of it as a mindless action movie that people could watch if they were completely bored to tears and that people were getting pissy that he's not going to swear occasionally now. "Rated-R" mindless made me go BIG WHOOP when I was 5.
