About an hour in.
The movie is solid how can you hate it? I mean its not the second coming of christ like everyone was jerking to last year. But it is a solid crime thriller. Whats you deal?
And Himuro, you should really fucking watch The Wire. I only hope it's "gangster" enough for you.

Totally. God I love The Wire.
I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard that BET (who are now running the horrible censored episodes) are chopping a lot of the dockworkers storyline out of season 2 (so that the episode can fit into an hour with commercials) because it's not really catering to their audience. Again, I don't know if that's true but if it is, that's fucking awful. They shouldn't be running censored versions of that show anyways; the infamous "fuck" scene between McNulty and Bunk from season 1 was fucking MASSACRED.
Anyway, I still need to see Season 4. I hear it's by far the best. I can't even wrap by head around that possibility.
Wasn't some cable network showing censored versions of the Sopranos? Or was that just something in talks?

Himu is pathetic. Ban this filth
The Departed is a great movie. I gave it a 9.5, and it's one of my top movies of 2006, if not the best. Why do you watch an hour of a movie, stop it, and then post about it? If anything disjoints a movie it's that.

A&E has the Sopranos.
Bravo has Six Feet Under.
TBS has Sex and the City.
None of them make sense being censored.
You're the taco who refuses to watch Eddie Murphy movies.

I think it might be your fault, but sometimes I am tempted to watch Sex and the City.

To be fair, when's the last time Eddie made a good movie though? I stay away from movies with Eddie Murphy in them in 2007, but in the 80s I was all over that nicca!
Thanks for telling us how you feel about the first hour of the movie. Are you browsing the Internet while you watch it? Shut up.:lol
I was pretty adamant with my wife that I wasn't going to watch or enjoy Sex and the City when we bought the series boxset from Deep Discount in 2005, but I ended up loving it.

That show got pretty fucking bad by the end though.

I made a thread about Undeclared 7 minutes in. :)
Apparently I didn't notice or care. We ended up marathoning the final season, finishing at 4am on a Sunday morning because we were so into it.

"I don't think this movie is that good. I'm not that impressed by what I saw of it on tv. I only saw about 5 minutes though..."
Sound familiar anyone?
I know I didn't say that. Scarface is the shit, edit or no edit.
WTF IS THAT? Pizza?
Scarface does suck, unless there is some sort of camp value I'm not getting. And posers need to get those Scarface posters off their walls before I go postal.
WTF IS THAT? Pizza?
Scarface is a fucking cartoon. If you want reality, stick with TVC15.

Yes sir. I watched the true second episode, "Oh, So You Have a Boyfriend." It was so awkward and painful to watch at times, but yeah it was good.
Remember people, Himu likes "They Nutty Professor"

It was like 2-3 years ago, and the guy in the picture was eating and eating and eating, and drinking and drinking and drinking.
He was just sitting there, then BLAM, spewed all over. AND THEN after he threw up, he sat there again for like 10 minutes in that pose, doing nothing but chilling with his vomit.
It was utahsaints couch and we all felt really bad but I don't believe anyone offered to clean it up.
He also threw up AGAIN, I believe on a chair? In this picture, I'm actually behind the camera man.
At the end of the night, we gave him a plastic chair to sit in to calm down in the back yard. He broke the plastic chair and fell down like face first, and we left him there, checking up on him periodically to make sure he was alive.
the ending sucked because it just killed off a bunch of characters. don't get the point of that. the worst part to me in a crime movie is when somebody's killed because they were in a bad place at a bad time.
Remember people, Himu likes "They Nutty Professor"
Yeah because this thread is totally serious.
Sucks? Hell no. Its a very solid movie, if a lesser Scorsese work. But still a damn good movie.
Overrated and not Best Picture worthy? Yes.
pan's labyrinth and the last king of scotland, for starters.

It's good to see someone not only give Pan's some love, but also Last King of Scotland. I don't remember anyone on GAF or this board even discussing that movie, or the brilliant lead performance
Also, it was The Lives of Others that won best foreign language film. Has anyone seen that?
It was great because it came out of nowhere and makes me anticipate The Departed 2. Is it going to be a totally new story or a continuation? What happens with the baby? Was it Costigan's?I don't think there is a part 2. It's based on Infernal Affairs and it took a three part movie and made it 2 hours. Read the plot summary on wikipedia and the departed's plot will sound like shit.
wow, no shit?
watch the original, as it's considerably better, in every respect.
the departed is an overrated film that figured the inclusion of a number of big name actors would compensate for the shoddy script and uncharacteristically poor direction by scorcese.
that it receives so much praise, from the usual dickheads, is of no surprise to me.

What was more worthy than The Departed last year? Babel? Pan's? The Queen? Letters?

Letters, Pan, Children of Men, United 93.
united 93?
lol..
the departed sucked, unquestionably, but united 93 is a farcical embarrassment of a movie.
a lie of a movie based on a true story.
spoiler (click to show/hide)Little Miss Sunshine was higer ranked by me than The Departed[close]

I don't even think you saw the movie.

WTF
so i bought the ce and finally got around to seeing it last night.
from the beginning of the movie, you know you're watching a scorsese movie. the way characters get killed, the music, the strong language, it's scorsese alright. that opening sequence gave me a goodfellas vibe, which is a good thing.
after the sullivan/castello opening scene you follow costigno and sullivan in police academy (whatever it's called) and this part, which went on for about ±15mins, felt very disjointed. it's just felt like it was scene after scene and to be honest i kinda lost track.
after this part the movie is just amazing. dicaprio was awesome as costigno and i liked nicholson's acting, too. the ending was freaking awesome. basically, every main character (besides dignam) dies :lol. the way they die is so ****ing raw and unexpected. costigan is ready to walk out of the elevator and boom, he's dead. two more characters die in less than 10 seconds after and it's done masterfully.
besides the beginning being somewhat disjointed there were a couple of other thing i didn't like:
- castello being an fbi informant: this was left untouched in the movie and it would've been nice if they'd spent more time on this, because it seemed to be an interesting sidestory.
- the part where castello thinks castigno's a rat and then needs to make sure that he is or is not one, just felt so dumb. it was obvious that it was a trap and it made castello look a bit amateuristic.
all in all i thought it was a pretty good movie and i can't say whether it's better than infernal affairs because i haven't seen it yet, but i definitely will.
:lol :lol I wonder if that furby popped wood...WTF IS THAT? Pizza?

Who gives a shit? It was a fucking well-made movie, that's all I care about.
Do you realize how many stories are romanticized versions of actual historical events? Don't be so naive.
the united states shot that plane out of the sky, yet we have this movie treating it as if these brave passengers stormed the cabin and brought the plane down.

this movie wasn't mere romanticization.
this movie was an obscene distortion of fact, an absolute falsehood peddled with earnest sentiment.

what? i did see the movie.
if only to amuse myself with its gross distortion of fact.
