GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) - A Mickey Mouse lookalike who preached Islamic domination on a Hamas- affiliated children's television program was beaten to death in the show's final episode Friday.

In the final skit, "Farfour" was killed by an actor posing as an Israeli official trying to buy Farfour's land. At one point, the mouse called the Israeli a "terrorist."

"Farfour was martyred while defending his land," said Sara, the teen presenter. He was killed "by the killers of children," she added.

The weekly show, featuring a giant black-and-white rodent with a high- pitched voice, had attracted worldwide attention because the character urged Palestinian children to fight Israel. It was broadcast on Hamas- affiliated Al Aqsa TV.

Station officials said Friday that Farfour was taken off the air to make room for new programs. Station manager Mohammed Bilal said he did not know what would be shown instead.

Israeli officials have denounced the program, "Tomorrow's Pioneers," as incendiary and outrageous. The program was also opposed by the state-run Palestinian Broadcasting Corp., which is controlled by Fatah, Hamas' rival.

The Hamas party is basically the most fucked up party.  They don't have the backing of israel, US, EU, or even russia because they don't "accept Israel's existence, renounce violence and adhere to past peace accords signed by Israel and the Palestinians".  Currently, the US, israelis, and europeans are trying to flood the west bank with cash (due to Hamas taking control of the gaza strip) so that they can keep Hamas from gaining power and have the president that the west likes (democratically elected mahmoud abbas) in power.  They also are trying to put the gaza stip on a limited diet of humanitarian aid to force the people to revolt against Hamas.  It may not work because if you starve people (consider israel is the gaza strip's source for 60% of its electricity, 100% of its gas supplies and 40% of its water) then that could make them madder and join Hamas.  Fortunately, the vast majority in charge of anybody having anything to do with this are smarter than gaylen, so hopefully there'll be some sort of agreement.  All I know is that Hamas seems far too radical for the average palestinian.
