There is no thread for the Doctor Who finale, Koregros?!
« on: July 01, 2007, 12:37:41 AM »
I stopped watching the show (and pretty much every other show) for nearly two months and only got caught up with the last 6-8 episodes this week.  Watching them all in succession was pretty awesome....now I'm home, BBC has aired the finale, and I'm 5 minutes away from my Usenet download finishing....totally pumped...

I really like the guy that plays the Master, even if he does chew the scenery a bit.  Can't wait to see how things will be resolved.

I forget, Border, have you watched Life on Mars?

I haven't watched the finale yet.  I have it sitting on my desktop, but my enthusiasm kind of lessened when I read some reactions.

I'm not reading any reactions then, I don't want to go in all biased.....

I haven't seen any of Life on Mars.  I'm not starting any new shows until I get done with all the ones I missed during my TV sabbatical (Veronica Mars, The Office, Sopranos are still left).

The dude that plays The Master is the main character of Life on Mars.  It's a pretty great show.  Make sure you check it out before the no doubt horrendous David E. Kelley US adaptation hits.

Just finished watching the finale.  I'd say it's relatively solid, if you just look at its parts rather than its whole.  Anybody that wanted to see Martha come into her own should certainly get a kick out of it.  Anybody that enjoyed the bizarro evil anti-Doctor whimsy of The Master will find more to like.

Is the "solution" to the crisis a stupid, unexplainable deus ex machina?  Yes, but it's not like there aren't 101 other episodes where something dumb resolved the conflict.

I'd be curious to know what the main complaint about the episode is......the only major problem I can see is that The Doctor is out of commission for about 3/4 of the show, but that's remedied by the fact that The Master takes his place.

I ended up liking that quite a bit.  Fuck the haters:  The Sound of Drums was a pretty tough act to follow.  The only things I really disliked in the episode was the Gollum-ization of the Doctor and the super psychic friends network thin.  Aside from those 2 bits, it was a good episode.  It just had the misfortune of having one of the best episodes of the new series air the week previous.

I sort of just group the last two episodes together anyways as a two parter, so both collectively together kicked my ass and gave me a blowjob.

I started watching some Torchwood, I don't see how I can wait until Christmas for some more Who. At least Stage6 has A FUCKING LOT of the classic series. And I mean A FUCKING LOT.

I just got finished with the fourth episode (the one where the Tarantino lookalike is trying to save her Cyberman girlfriend)

I found the finale too ridiculous.  The doctor going from ET to Jesus was a bit far.  Also, the fact that The Master kept the doctor around for so long, wouldn't kill himself, but would willingly do so a few minutes later because he had to be with The Doctor was not very swallowable.  But of course they show some mysterious shot towards the end just in case.
