FF1 remake on PSP = banana in my pocket
« on: July 02, 2007, 02:13:22 PM »
:o @ the pretty effects and updated 2D sprites.

other than that, same game...  but it does make me miss the simplicity of old school JRPGs.  all the new item management, alchemy, skill system bullshit is too much for my JRPG weaksauce ass to handle. i'm hoping eternal sonata and bru-dragon are simple enough for me to get through.

ff1 isn't simple enough to get through? That's like..the basics. Nothing to deep.

:(  i've never owned a real copy.  i've played an emulated NES version, but that was it.  there's something special about this version on the psp... like whoa

The sprites look awesome and make me disappointed FFIII-VI weren't remade on psp.

Ok, I thought you had bought and played every other ported version out there. If you only played the NES, then this will do fine. Now you are forced to pay the same for FF2 (the awful one) if it comes out, rather than play them in a pack like... every other ported version out there!

Did that add a good amount of Bonus stuff? Cause I played through FF1 and I liked the Bonus Dungeons.

I'm gonna get this eventually, but I still think FF1 and 2 should've been at least paired together for the PSP for $30... buying this standalone just doesn't seem worth it, especially since I own FF1, Origins (definitely the best version of FF1), and 1+2 DOS. Does the PSP port have weaksauce difficulty and a high encounter rate like FF1 DOS, or is it more like the original FF1?

I have a problem getting into the latest RPGs mostly because of the glut of story sequences/cinemas and the fact a lot of them require bare minimum a 45-50 hour time investment. Sad, because that used to be my favorite genre, now I find I play more action/shooter/2D/classic games than anything.

the encounter rate varies really.   it seems balanced so far (about 3 hours in).

FF2 is FF4 in japan, as was said. That game is being remade for DS.

No, but I didn't expect them to make it look like an assy Korean RPG either.

Whatever I own an NES cart of FF1 and the WSC remake and that is enough FF1 for me.
