I've got a mono RCA TV. No stereo sound, no inputs other than coax. I have to run the composite cables from my gaming systems into my VCR's composite in, and out through the coax out.

I used to have a much older tv than this before. I think Ed saw it a few times but I'm not so sure. It really was from the 80's. We had the tv since I was a little kid.

I've got the NES/DC/GC on a Sharp 27" that's probably identical. The PS2 and Xbox are hooked up to the HDTV along with the PS3, though.

Fortunately, the PS3's upscaling and smoothening makes PSOne and PS2 games look extremely clean and sharp even on 1080p screens. So fuck CRTs.

If you're a slumming college student, I guess. But this TV is going to be lasting you for a while, as your TV from the 50s shows, so at least put some funding into it. I plan for my TV for at least 3 years, as I got 3 year warranty with it. By then newer (re: older) TVs will have dropped and I can get something better then.

anime hoarding is such a waste of ressources too... I have a *few* boxed sets, and they were nice purchases because they were discounted, and formed a lot of content for little money

but once they're watched, wtf are you supposed to do of them, they just sit there in a storage room... no one else in the mainstream would watch some shit in japanese with english subs, and it's too much of an hassle to sell it on some place like Ebay

okay, when you buy an HDTV, go for 720p, not 1080i or 1080p.

1080p isn't really noticable and there's only like 3 360 games and 3 PS3 games that are rendered natively in 1080p plus the technology isn't really there yet. 720p (while 10% less pixels) is said to have a smoother image quality than 1080i because it's not interlaced.

Ports the TV will need:
Component. You have a 360 and wii and that's the only way to get the best image out of both of them. I heard you can use VGA to get a 360 up to 1080p without buying a Elite and using HDMI.

SDTV can have left and right sound or mono. White is left side and red is right side. If there's only one cable then it's mono. Yellow is the video cable.
