Ugh, I know I am. But for some reason I keep clicking and reading all of the 9/11 threads. It's like a train wreck I can't stop watching :( It's awful, but fascinating at the same time. I'm just amazed at just how deep of an obsession some people have with this stuff.

I'm more entertained when they dabble in areas closer to my expertise, like when Hajaz starts going off about how FDR "lured" the Japanese into attacking Pearl Harbour.

I get tired of it, but then I realize that while most of it is garbage, if there is going to be belief in a system comprised of flawed individuals, there must also be disbelief.

Once you've seen a chair with shit on it returned to a retail store, you've pretty much accepted that anything can happen.

HAAAAAANNNNNSSSSS! :lol

Absolute bullshit. I don't think they understand how complex that conspiracy theory really is. You mean to tell me that hundreds of members of the government, air force, congress, etc pulled off this kind of attack, and there hasn't been ONE leak? Come on, just look at all the leaks we've seen from Iraq. This government would have to be VERY productive and brilliant in order to pull off such an attack, and looking at Iraq/War on Terror/Katrina/homeland security/etc it's clear that's not the case.

you can't blame people for genuinely seeking the truth, it's admirable to see individuals with this much resolve... who knows where this could lead, even if nowhere it's a thrilling ride... people blindly dissing posters like Hans for simply having contrasting opinions are kinda pathetic

there's probably a truckload of bull within that, but this is an attitude that IMO deserves respect, no matter what viewpoint you stand on... it's important to develop a lot of skepticism, the medias like to tool us like muppets... groupthink is dangerous, at the very least it helps us being aware of that

but how do they form any kind of group, when whenever they discuss these schemes, they're outnumbered by a ratio of 100 to 1, and viewed as if the word "LOON" was tatooed on their foreheads, as if everything they said was totally invalid before it was even typed? not fair

clearly they're in a vulnerable minority here

I do respect all of their opinion.  I think that's what makes America so great.  The people have the right to believe whatever they want!  I personally "DIS" hans because he's a total piece of shit person.  Everyone knows this.  He doesn't even have an engineering degree yet, and he thinks he's like some pro experts on the second and third tallest fucking buildings made in American history.  Gotta think about that one bud ;)

At least they have the right to voice their opinion, even if it's thrown out the window.  Concentrate on the freedoms they have... not what other people think of them.

Hans isn't as bad as most people believe IMO, he's got some weird morals but at least he has some and most of his posts do make a lot of sense.

Plus what's with these unrelated ad hominem digs, must that eternally happen to deal with strong contrasting views? It's always ridiculous, it wouldn't even belong if it'd be the religious worshippers of Santa Claus discussing. One day, you'll hold contrasting views, and you'll be frustrated of being blindly bullied like that. So why spread the same bullshit you'll hate?

You're assuming a lot of things here.  I think the guy is wrong, is not as intelligent as he thinks he is, AND is an asshole.  What's with the digs?  Did you not even see what he did to our wedding post on OA?  You think he respects our points of view?  Don't give a man respect while he's a hypocrite himself.  But you think you're like 900 fucking times smarter than me, so there's no point in even trying to prove a point to you anyways because you already think you're right and everyone else is an idiot.

Well, it's possible that these are partly deserved... still, it feels kinda awkward in the context in which they're handed, which is one of contrasting views, instead of open criticism towards one person...

I think that this wedding thread was strictly meant to harmlessly get a rise out of everyone.

And no, everyone is even in my view, whoever says anything is immaterial, inside I deem my views as the absolute lowest in terms of degree of sensibility. Sorry for the occasional smugness that erupts from my posts, if you say that sometimes ad hominem digs are crucial well others might have similar intents. I hope you'll forgive me, and understand that most any of it is well-intended sardonic humor. :/

There is something at the neurological level with conspiracy theorists. Due to our animalistic nature, we need to assess threats in our environment and deal with them in a state of paranoia .. or fear of the unknown.

In our society, where the threat of almost any danger has been eliminated or neutered ... some people seek to find enemies where there is none.

What they all share in common is the ability to see inconsistencies in individual instances. But fail to tie these things together into a cohesive arguement. Instead, tying the pieces together with random eyewitness accounts or other vagueries.

With the end of the Cold War, there is no invisible enemy to be worried about. So, people have created them.

I don't think he tried to bash you... just to publish the pictures on OA and make something entertaining out of it since Catzgirl had a few years long legacy there... sure you're not taking this all way too personally, and that you're not imagining dubious intents where there aren't?

Good post. That also touches a bit on the fact that these conspiracy theories rely so heavily on only a few witness accounts and quotes taken out of context. And we all know how reliable witness accounts are  ::) Just look at the Montreal shootings recently. Hundreds of witnesses and the initial reports were saying there were upwards of 4 shooters still on the run and multiple deaths when in fact there was only 1 shooter and 1 death. You just can't rely on any witness recounts to argue such a radical conspiracy.  Especially when it's the retelling of such horrific and surreal event as 9/11.

I think he could be some kind of sociopath, which would explain his actions.

lol, many of the OA posts are nothing but obvious zingers destined to get a rise out of you, don't you know that?

and didn't Catzgirl stand some 20x more heinous ones when she began posting from OAers like Gigmonger and Futami?

I'm tired of the 911 stuff, but I think people use 'conspiracy theory' to discredit questioners who threaten status quo. Plus, yesterday's conspiracy is today's fact sometimes.

I watched a 911 thing on Democracy Now the other day and wondered if one of the kids pushing it was Hans. It was about some film they were releasing.  There was a blond kid who seemed to be the head of it, and an immature dark haired kid who just responded to everything by calling others liars. They were pretty venemous to the two guys from Popular Science, who were supposed to be the other side of the argument.
