I just don't get it. How can one video game shit on 6 movies of a universally lauded franchise? It's got more interesting characters, more interesting situations, a better plot than all of them, and it doesn't act like it was written by and for prepubescent transsexuals.

If Knights of the Old Republic were a movie trilogy, it would own.

Hahaha. KotOR's characters are better than the majority of the characters in both trilogies.

KOTOR is my favorite Xbox game, it's fantastic but like every rpg it's plot is a complete joke other than that twist.

Empire Strikes Back is the only thing saving the entire franchise.

At least I can watch the movies to the end, shame for Kotor

KOTOR was good as a videogame story.  That doesn't mean it's story was generic but that it made you really want to think about what choices you made.  It was a lot more suspenseful than star wars movies and star wars movies should never be praised as doing anything remotely more innovative than KOTOR.

other than re-inventing a basically dead niche film genre on it's own

kotor had vastly better writing and dialogue than any star wars film. that's right; underpaid bioware monkey writers are better with the english language than that worthless hack lucas.

if star wars is any indicator, there was a reason it died: it was hoist on its own lack of worth and quality.

That's a genre I'd like dead.  Wait let me check.

*puts hands on crotch*

yeah I still got balls.

I don't like star wars at all and the only reason I took any interest in KOTOR was that it was set hundreds of years before the movies so it was obvious they weren't going to rip anything off from it.  OTHER THAN A SMALL GREEN MAN.

If you had compressed and distilled the KOTOR story into its best elements and made it into a screenplay, the movie would probably be better than a New Hope and just behind Empire Strikes Back.

Like Prole said, in terms of writing, dialogue and characters, Bioware's effort took a huge dump on Lucas' stuff.

Clambake reminds me of Jolee Bindo, the way he was always going off on some longwinded story that had little relevance to anything.

Well, until I found out that Clambake was a fraud.

He's not the only one, but isn't he the last one? As in, the only one who is supposed to be living?

It just makes no sense. I am not a big fan of Star Wars at ALL. I'm an LotR guy. But KotOR makes my penis hard.

LotR was worse because it actually tried to patronize the core manchildren audience.

I'm making a serious argument.

I didn't see a reason for movies like star wars or LotR to be made but at least star wars was first marketed towards kids.  Just looking at LotR's real swords merchandise and you die a little inside.  If you're going to make fantasy, it has to have a big reason.  You can't just say you want to make a ring that makes midgets insane.  I don't like fantasies where they say "this is a HUGE, good and evil kill for it now!"

The one thing I liked about star wars was that it really imagined a realistic take on better technology, alien politics, spirituality (force shit) but the movies failed because of the horrible plot and dialogue.

good fantasies are usually satires.  I actually can't think of one that isn't.

Yoda is the only saving grace for the Star Wars films.  He fucking rocks my balls off and then nuts on my face and then slurps it back up his nose like a line of coke.

Uh, because KOTOR lasts fourty hours. When you only have two hours to introduce dozens of characters, locations and spectacular events, it takes its toll.

There were so many expectations and standards for excellence on the fans' end that it was absolutely impossible to present films that would satisfy them in any way. KOTOR was made and people expected nothing of it, if not of it being a decent implementation of the Bioware formula for computerized Dungeons & Dragons games with Star Wars themes added into the mix.

I didn't have much expectation for the new trilogy at all and they were still dog shit.

Even prior to Episode I? Before TPM came out the hype for that film was unheard of and of absolute incredible levels.

I never understood the hate for the prequels.  I found the original movies to be boring and mediocre, excepting maybe Empires.  I tried to watch A New Hope 2 months ago and it was painfull.

I thought Episode 1 was going to be okay. I mean, I always felt there was no need for the trilogy. What would be learn from it? How Anakin turned to the dark side? Who cares? Star Wars stories are so damn black and white that it was obvious he just "swayed" to the dark side and why he went to it was irrelevant in my eyes, thus I didn't care. Still, I went to see it in theaters the day it came out with my best friend. It was actually the last movie he ever saw before he died, bless his heart, so it holds a special place in my heart despite being average.

I was a big fan of the movies as a kid, but by the time I reaches 7th grade (the year episode 1 came out), I realized that they weren't that great and was not expecting much of the new movies.

Poor lost himu

KOTOR is maybe the most overrated game of that generation.  Where the story is goign is evident from very early and the worlds manage to be full of people and yet not full of life.  It's an amazingly unexciting stale world with multiple bad spots.  When looking at Sonic RPG, I fear bioware has lost it.

KOTOR was good because on some worlds, you may kill half the people you meet (sith).

I also liked how the order you go in and the choices you make have so much freedom.
