I think that we should have three forums:

General Discussion
Gaming
Stupid Fucking Internet Drama

This move would entail splitting the Hot Dog Bar into two forums.

- "General Discussion" would be for movies, music, relationship advice, internet pranks, homosexual subtext, youtube videos, cat macros, ans do on and so forth.
- "Stupid Fucking Internet Drama" would be for the OCD level "I know you are but what am I" threads that are popping up with increasing frequency, personal insults, post count comparisons, jokes about people's disabilities, and of course the photo thread. This is where people with super sandy vaginas can make beautiful pearls together.

In this way, people who think message board dickery is funny don't have to deal with the people who think message board dickery is SERIOUS BUSINESS. Because those people are oh so vocal in their angst and ire.

I further propose a subclass of Townie Leper that can only post in Stupid Fucking Internet Drama.

In fact, perhaps SFID could default to Comic Sans! That would make everyone's virulent posts about who has the less valuable life extra awesome.

the problem is that many threads that initially go smoothly end up turning into inane drama fests midway

not sure that it's a good idea to add more sub-sections to this place either, it's not a good idea to add too much clutter... nevertheless, yeah such drama threads and such constant meta-threads about other posters are pretty damn lame, but there's probably no real way to prune them

there aren't a lot of regulars here compared to other places, so as thread selection isn't that high and it's always the same people replying to each other's posts, it creates a lot of bickering... in other places people just get lost in the crowd

I agree with Patel on most parts...basically the SFID could work as a sort of baby dumpster that's accessible to everyone. It could work two ways: One, you could just start a thread that's meant to be irrelevant arguing in SFID. The other is, moving a thread that started out legitimately but has totally degenerated into inane banter/bitch-slapping (a la the Comic Sans thread). Once a thread is completely derailed and is just internet dick talk, it gets moved to SFID and the relevant parties can continue the thread there.
