I said this on GAF: Area 51 is allegedly the opening sequence, and in previous movies, the opening set piece is only tangently connected to the rest of the plot/artifact search. So basically, I think this could be true, but at the same time we are still going to have. . .Shia riding UFOs and being named after retrievers and whatnot.

From my spoiler obsessing, the opening IS area 51 reclaiming the ark but it has nothing to do with aliens, area 51 is where they store stuff that is secret. The ark is just the "cute" opener. A "HEY GUYS REMEMBER RAIDERS?" type of deal.

The movie is about 12 alien skulls. There are NO modern aliens in the movie, we see no living aliens unless something is hidden very well and not spoiled yet. The aliens in this are ancient dead ones who build aztech, pyramid...etc stuff

I enjoyed Spider-Man 3 (if it counts as "summer"), Transformers, and Die Hard 4.0 the most of all the summer movies.

In the end, these are all semi-mindless "popcorn flicks" that are fun to go and watch, and don't need a ton of discussion. I don't expect oscar-caliber flicks from any of these kinds of movies, and I don't see why anyone would, yet on the ol' internets, people disect these movies in every way imaginable.

Spidey 3 has been the most fun I've had at the movies this summer. I still don't get why people analyze summer movies as they would more serious films - one type of movie is intended purely as entertainment product, the other ostensibly has deeper intentions.

I went for the action, under-whelmed by it because the robots talked so fucking much. It would be better if all of them where like the car and that little one. Why the let the other ones talk as well , I haven't got a clue other than because of some cartoon I guess. It was cheesy.

I was insanely suprised about how solid the pre-action hour was being basically a cute rom-com with a car that had a personality.

Action wise I got a lot more out of Die Hard, ......talking robots fighting over a cube. $:-\$

But due to the first hour I enjoyed it.

I am judging it as a movie! It's not my issue I didn't watch a 30 min commerical as a kid.

The first hour was human dominated with a car that had a personality and some evil robot that couldn't talk really. After the first hour the movie changed gears COMPLETELY and was dominated by robots as the main characters rambling about some cube.

Willco I am talking about them sneaking around a neighborhood, the introductions in the street...etc

The whole point of the second half was about finding some cube. I was FAAAAAAR more interested in the LaBeouf/Fox romantic story that dominated the first half than that.

I went in for the action but found myself far more drawn to the teen-romcom aspect.

Yes! I went in for the action as I said but got so caught up in the rom-com aspect I got pissed off when they abandoned it to focus on optimus prime finding a damn cube.

My interest in the movie dropped significantly soon as prime was on screen basically. It was GREAT action, don't get me wrong but it stole away a rom-com I was enjoying!
