Abrams is a solid director, he doesn't stand out but he is very competent.

I can understand not wanting to see a movie due to a director but thinking a trailer looked cool depending on who you thought directed it is absurd and stupid.

I don't get what was so sweet about it. it was 2 minutes of no-scripted "lol naturalism" followed by a shot of the Statue of Liberty's head that would have been iconic if they had gotten the framing right and it didn't look like awful CG.

Whenever the trailer played before transformers, people were fucking freaking. It was surreal. Mostly eight or nine year old kids (because it's Transformers).

But I heard a few other people get freaked out too, and all this at the same time I was seeing it was fucked up.
