Think he's referring to Dragon Con. It's always been quite the meat machine with easy hookups from what I've heard-I blame the Atlanta heat.

Yeah - If you assume they are all montrosities you are wrong...

Companies hire models, "booth babes" etc...

They are usually normal girls working in a sea of comic nerds...

Usually the hammies are show attendees.....Im talking about girls hired to actually draw attention to a vendor or product.

EDIT: My limited one time experience may not reflect how it is all the time - I have no idea.

Certainly you're going to have your share of whales in the ocean, but there are plenty of attractive girls who just go as fans too.  Look at all the cosplay threads for example.  Then you have the goth crowd, and they go to DC and a whole lot of them are real sexual freaks and deviants, I guess because it pisses mom off.  Whatever, I don't care as long as I can do twisted things to them!

I've met my fair share of women that would dabble in that stuff.  They're attractive and freaks underneath the sheets, but they're also looney.  A convention like this is your best shot to hit it and quit it, so you can get out of town before they get attached and bring their baggage.

I just always assumed the attractive cosplay girls were attention whores.  Never really thought of them as socially maladjusted.

No, they're crazy.

I dated this one Korean chick, she was pretty and certainly on the petite side.  She was also CRAZY.  And the first thing she wanted to do was dress up at some anime convention.  I jumped ship pretty quick from that one.

yeah lets be clear - partying with these female types and dating them are COMPLETELY different things.

I was fed up with emo baggage "I need a daddy" girl types by age 22.

Maybe things have changed since I last went to Dragon Con (I think that was back in 1999), but I don't remember seeing many "delectable-looking women."  I worked there for a few years in a row when my old store had a booth, and that shit was SCARY.  Gwar was always cool though.

Anime has gotten a lot more mainstream since 1999. I think I was one of the only kids in my HS (graduated in 99) to be into it in any measure.

Dragon Con isn't an anime convention.  There's tons of it there, sure, but it's a fantasy/comic con that's been going on for years and years.

I'm the same as you, Tiesto.  I remember the days when the only "Japanimation" that people knew were Akira, Ghost In The Shell, and Ninja Scroll.  My high point was back in the early-mid nineties...I was fucking NUTS for Ranma 1/2.  I had multiple fanboy orgasms when the first tape from Viz and the mediocre SNES game hit the U.S. in late 1992.   :lol  Shit's just not the same anymore.

There was this scary nerd-girl I found out about when I was a senior.  She was either a freshman or a sophomore, and called herself "Michi."  "Michi" claimed to be Japanese, even though Michi" was a white girl with blonde hair.  Apparently her great grandmother on her father's cousin's brother's side was Japanese or some shit.  Yeah.  "Michi" called herself Michi because she loved a fucking character in Sailor Moon with the same name.  She even dyed her hair green to match this character at one point.

This was one of my earliest tastes of actually being turned off to something I liked because of a super-nerd.  And then following this wave were the hardcore elitist prick types who would scoff at anyone not watching the latest fansubs, joining the game nerd pricks (ESPECIALLY fighting game players...incredibly fucking elitist), and you knew anime was here to stay.  I couldn't stand going to cons either; I used to go just to hit the dealers' rooms, and after anime exploded, it was easy to find and order everything on the internet, so no need.  I sure as hell didn't miss the putrid odors emitting from fat Son Goku cosplayers with cardboard hair, either.

Congratulations.

I have skipped the DragonCon film festival for the last couple years, but generally they have some pretty good stuff showing.....a lot of it isn't even nerd-related.  I think the event has been somewhat marginalized by YouTube though.
