That's probably the best looking video game I've ever seen. Crysis included. Such loving detail on everything, it's just WOW.

Edit: Except for the ground textures on that last shot. :)

I wish GTR2 looked that good. :(

polyphony digital tunes their output for screenshots and stills. there's so many rendering cheats that target stills that they even based a "game" mode around it -- photo mode! in game, gt games always look a bit iffy -- when you can't fake bloom and light scatter with alpha effects and post-processing cheats, the low-fi textures, pseudo-reflection mapping, and aliasing issues shine through.

That was definitely true for the PS2 GT3/GT4 games. Is it the same way on the GTHD PS3 release?

put it this way: those ground textures and grass bitmaps ain't using any procedural or shader effects! heavy post-processing effects like anti-aliasing, DOF, and motion blur can hide the ps3's technical shortcomings, especially with regards to geometry, texture resolution, or shader quality -- and doubly so when you're generating out-of-game stills that don't hafta render every 1/60th of a second. :lol.

They aren't using much RAM either, obviously.  :lol

Thanks for the clarification. That white Ferrari pic is still  :drool , too bad it's more of a cocktease than anything else. :(

No car damage = unimpressive game.  We should no longer be forced to play ultrarealistic racing games where we are still driving Superman's INDESTRUCTIBLE CAR.  Gran Turloser

no damage also = significantly less physics to handle. DiRT is fucking amazing in comparison :bow :bow :bow

I started playing DiRT on my PC last night , I agree completely with the  :bow :bow :bow

The PC version is awesome, btw-being able to tone down the HDR to tasteful levels, good 360 controller support, and a few other simple tweaks for good framerates at high res really make the game nice on the PC if you swing that way.

If there are games to play in hell, I would imagine this is the only series available.

The yellow viper shot is ridiculous.  A couple of the shots make the cars look like plastic, that one looks real.

An SD video now!

Jesus, that looks insane! That game will probably be this generation's best-selling console game when all's said and done.

I talked to the guys that are working on it and that was all from the version coming out this November. And as far as going in and out of the car you can do that, you can play with the camera.
