Codemaster's DiRT is a good example, while it is arriving a couple months after the PC/360 version it's not a huge delay and it appears that the time isn't being spent simply bringing the PS3 version up to the quality of the 360 version. No, according to a Gamespot interview, the time is being spent making the PS3 one better than the other versions. The developer espouses at length about how much better the PS3 version will be, saying that it "looks fantastic compared to the 360." He further explains that the framerate is better, that there is full support for all the PS2 steering wheels, and that they now have full uncompressed 5.1 surround sound -- something 'the 360 didn't allow us to do.'

Great news all around for PS3 owners frustrated about the delay of the highly anticipated racer. While it's always nice getting a game as soon as possible, getting a better game by waiting a couple months is a pretty solid trade-off. DiRT will be out this fall (around September) and according to the developer we'll also be getting a demo before then, so keep an eye on the PS Store for more gorgeous offroad racing.

the framerate and screen tearing on the 360 version really got hard to bear after a while

DiRT fucking rocked, I had such a blast with the 360 version... I'll definitely get the PS3 port after hearing these news

biased? come on, these times around the Internet is prone to some weird herd mentality when it comes to console gaming, and it really feels like when posting about PS3 games and PS3 hardware, if the post isn't immediately followed by mockery and predictions of doom and gloom, then it consitutes biasedness

all that because the PS3 is a bit more expensive than the Xbox 360

nevertheless I constantly post fair impressions of PS3 and 360 software devoid of partisan points of view, something that the near totality of Evilbore people here simply don't do

but the only reason I don't have some more PS3 games is because there's a way to get 360 games for very, very very cheap, so it's hard to argue with free next-gen gaming... I wouldn't put a dime on most any multiplatform 360 game because of the amount of DVD-ROM system noise and because of the hardware malfunctions

the DVD-ROM system noise is just an unnecessary distraction, it takes away from the experience on quiet games that don't have a lot of action going on and that rely a lot on a quiet atmosphere like Condemned or Oblivion... sure you tend not to notice it when you have a good sound system with your TV, but say if you want to take the 360 in your bedroom's small TV then it can overshadow the game's aural atmosphere at times

that's bad for those of us who want a true next-gen experience.

yeah, if you want to play an horror game like Resident Evil 5 where hideous monsters come out of nowhere screaming to shock you, it really doesn't matter to have some muffled hair dryer in the background

if you want to take a walk in Oblivion's world, and gaze at the grass and sky and forget the world you live in for a while, it really doesn't take away from the immersion

and it's currently unwise to stick the 360 in a compartment of a TV stand because the system can overheat and die out in these conditions

uh, there are a few minor objects in less around the tracks, probably due to the difference in available RAM (currently 84MB vs 32MB and which is being reduced with incremental firmware upgrades).... but that seems to be pretty minor

less bloom, but that's a good thing, the 360 version's was way over the top... other than that it seems that the 360 version has some strenghts, whereas the PS3 one has other strenghts, and it's up to the person's subjectivity to determine which of the strenghts makes for the better-looking game... I know that in most instances especially when it comes to ports, PS3 games look more rough around the edges because of the lack of EDRAM

and the framerate in DiRT 360 WAS extremely awful as soon as many racers joined you on the track, nice to see that it's locked this time

I don't buy many games, but think I'll get the PS3 version of DiRT when it's like 20 bucks, this is a quality game that's worth buying and after having nearly completed the 360 version I'd like to complete the game again with a proper framerate

Oblivion is such a quiet, atmosphere game with ITS CONSTANT EPIC MUSIC. About Dirt, I think rally games were never simply not very popular in America. And lol at Jotaro's list of awesome ps3 games he owns, 3 being playstation network games and one being a 13 years old fighting game. Also he forgot that japanese kiddy golf game he kept ~~talking~~ pimping about in just every thread when it came, praising it for its awesome gameplay or something. I like how he listed terrible games yet forgot to list it.

edit: can we just ban Jotaro? He's shitting up the gaming forum; it used to be an awesome place to discuss actually palying games, but now it's degenerating into 'LOL LETS ARGUE WHICH CONSOLE HAS THE BEST PORTS OF MULTICONSOLE GAMES' bs. He's just annoying and brings nothing to the table; he doesnt even play games and his impressions are pretty much 'yay I downloaded this game, and it has great music and sound effects 5/10'. I usually just skips those threds are they are completly worthless and empty in content.

whaaat? everyone debates which multiplatform game is the best one, it's the sole thread of that sort I've ever made on here, whereas some others like Drinky Crow have made like 15-20 ones; I've made in-depth impressions of games like Blue Dragon, Bioshock, Persona 3 and Minna no Golf 5 whereas lately some members have done like 8 frivolous Bioshock threads in a row

I contribute far more detailed impressions of games that are actually played than you do... but would actually find it hilarious to be expelled for no reason

360 version has the edge in lighting. PS3 version has better detail, framerate, better shadows, and less tearing.

Overall, both versions are good in different ways. IMO, fanboys around the net need to stop bragging over which version is better. They are both good IMO and neither a PS3 or 360 fan should be happier or ashamed with the version they get. DiRT rocks anyway.
