Does my cat have a cold?
« on: July 13, 2007, 06:22:58 PM »
Recently he's been making these "quacks" like a duck, usually 2-3 at a time. His tounge sticks out when he does this, and it's really weird. He's never done this before as far as I know. They seem like sneezes, they don't sound like the usual cough he would make if he was about to throw up or something.

I just take him to the vet and spend the $25 bux for an exam whenever in question.

I was going to suggest the opposite.  Start by taking its rectal temperature.

I'd agree that it sounds like hairballs.

Those quack-like things can be freaky as fuck if you don't expect them. I'd be on the lookout to make sure it doesn't puke on a carpet or anything.

That shit can easily run you over $100. If they actually have to do something, it keeps going up. If they're keeping them overnight, forget about it.

A vet will require you to pay for all the shots the cat needs if you've never brought it to that office before, unless you can show paperwork from another office that the cat has had the shots recently enough (which is fairly recent). They won't even look at it unless they do that, which is very pricey. There's no such thing as a quick trip to the vet.

I was just told by a cat "freak" - a friend of my mom's to rub vaseline on its tail and front leg area so it would lick it off and lubricate its inside so whatever was in there would come out easier, probably shit it out.
