I think this is why it's his best movie. It connects both with the Linklater fans' love of his dialogue and unimportant plots and the general teen-young adult lowbrow audience. It's a damned good movie and an entertaining movie for just about everyone at the same time.

it's a comedy about this little kid named Hale (Hare in English I guess) who's mom finds this mysterious girl named Guu. Guu appears innocent and sweet at first, but then the next day she's gone insane and is completely different. She eats people, can shoot missles, and grow into a giant to kill everyone. Guu makes it her job to ruin Hare's life by eating, killing, or fucking up everything he's ever known.

One of the anime comedy greats.

it's one of the better-paced and well-written anime it seems. the comedy is wonderfully surreal, there's almost no fan service, and it's largely exposition-free. it's pretty much of a complete indictment of the average passive-aggressive geek's personality.

Guu's job is to turn him into more selfish, confident, better-adjusted human being who will actually take a stand for himself. Guu the character is some unexplained god-monster being who likes to fucking troll by literally twisting reality. She also likes afros, bloodshed, seeing the village doctor get raped by an elderly woman, encouraging alcoholism, fighting bears, and sucking folks into her transdimensional stomach, which is possibly the most fucked up place in the universe.

Who released this? If it's ADV, I'll wait for it to come out in box set form and for them to have one of their ridiculous 40% off sales, and I can probably pick up the whole series for less than fifty bucks. Sounds awesome.

EDIT: I looked at the boxes and it looks like a Funimation release. They're not nearly as good when it comes to sales/cheap anime. :/
