Do people still play Halo 2 online?

I've begun replaying Halo 2, since I've forgotten a great deal about the story (but not the original's for some odd reason, just seems more simple or something) and was wondering if it was worth it to download those free map packs.  Does anyone even play it online anymore?

Um, yeah dude. They just recently released some new maps. Halo 2 is the biggest XBL title, having been topped recently by Gears.

I was under the suspicion that all the shitty 360 games have overtaken it.  I know Gears of War is the number one title.  Which I don't understand, because Gears of War sucks online.

Gears of War's XBL ranking isn't because of co-op, which is actually good, but because of its multiplayer.  Which is horrendous.  People didn't shell out the money for those new maps because of co-op.  That's disturbing, actually.

Kinda sad. The campaign is loads of fun, but the MP is pretty damn repetitive and boring.

I still play Halo 2 on XBL all the time with a buddy of mine. We both suck, but it's great fun.

A lot of people play online (if I recruit you to my clan, I rank up) and the new maps (the 2 new ones) are kind of crappy but they're required to play ranked games.  They also just added this thing called the H2 challenge, I don't know what it is.
