This game looks so cool, but the gameplay is promising so much that I worry it'll fall short.

What I've seen of the game creeps me out. No thanks. Also needs less 'hands' and more guns.

In all likelyhood, this will probably be my game of the year. All of the impressions have been overwhelmingly positive and the core "shock" gameplay seems to have translated to the new environment perfectly. It's probably the only game I'll pick up all year the day it comes out and go out of my way to do so.

Ive been in on the love since it was announced. "Spiritual successor to System Shock" was all I needed to be sold.

Looked really cool and slightly disturbing from the trailers, it's definitely on my radar.

What the hell is Willco talking about? Most of EB has a hard on for Bioshock.

I'll be picking it up, as I should have a 360 by then.

I swiped a Bioshock faceplate from work and some card that gave me an exclusive 360 theme.  All aboard the hype train now!

Does it have stats like SS?  Does it have exploration?

Starbreeze made Riddick, which was one of the best FPS games for the Xbox last generation, so they got a free pass solely off of the virtue of that game. In contrast, Irrational is new to consoles and most 360 gamers never played System Shock 2, one of the greatest first person games of all time, hence the wariness.

Eh, people should know, though.  I mean the two versions are going to be pretty much identical, right?

Anyway, Bioshock is gonna be awesome.  Can't wait to take down some Big Daddys.

Exploration-yes, though the first area will be a bit linear it opens up big time about a third of the way through (much like SS2).
Stats - sorta, the plasmids are roughly a equivalent to the of the cybernetic module allocations of SS2, but more flexible. Honestly, the stat allocations provided in SS2 were rarely meaningful in my playthroughs of the game-they really only existed to unlock abilities, which is what the plasmids/tonics do for Bioshock.

Never, ever, ever assume that console gamers know even the most rudimentary things about PC gaming, much less knowledge of a game that came out eight (wow, time flies) years go.

BIOSHOCK is my most anticipated game this year for the 360.  It just seems so different from all the other 360 offerings coming in fall and winter.  I just hope it sells well as many are predicting that it would be ignored due to its release date.

I just watched a few movies and pics.. I'm not sure where you guys are getting those system shock vibes from. By reading this thread, I started looking for more infos expecting some really kick-ass pseudo sequel to SS in a cool neuromancer-ish world..

But i got a weird ass hybrid of Kiss Psycho Circus, Timesplitter, Blood 2 and that American McGree horror fps from a few years ago.. I'm not sure what to think.

Outside of the game's setting, the game is literally is a System Shock sequel-upgradeable "wetware" aka plasmids, story is delievered via logs save for one main character that points the path for your next objective (though it does have exploration), hacking, modifiable weaponry, varied ammunition, skills, stats, psionic-like powers, etc.

I have made a decision.  If Mr.  Frag likes a game, then buy.  If Mr. Frag doesnīt like it, then no-buy.  Iīll wait for his impressions on Bioshock, Mass Effect, Fable 2 and Fallout 3, whenever they come out.

EDIT:  FUCK!! I have just seen the PC interface.  AWESOME!!!

I wonder if a rig with 1g of Ram and a 256mb video card will run it at medium settings.  I could play it on my 360, but I donīt want to :(.

What 256mb card, specifically?

2G is optimal for any PC gaming nowadays (and it's dirt cheap too), but the GPU/CPU is the big question marks if you are thinking of bioshock on the PC.
